It's a great place to have a meal with a larger group of people, and relatively quiet too. I ordered the fried haddock with baby potatoes. It was prepared quite promptly, and the service was friendly too. The portion sizes are huge! If you don't have a big appetite, just get one portion and share. The tartar sauce is also made in house. They have any veggie options so vegetarian people can enjoy too! The fish itself was very fresh, and it was quite delicious! Despite the portion size I was able to finish everything! They don't seem to be hand cut but they do taste like proper chippy chips rather than just deep-fried frozen fries. Fish is always fresh and there's the usual range of pies (Pukka), sausages and saveloys. Food is cooked to order and so you may have a wait at all but the most peak of times. This can't be a bad thing though, can it? Parking on the High Street is impossible and so you'll have to use the car park down the side of the CoOp. It's not too far to walk though! It's not my first choice chippy but, if Seafarer is closed then this will do!

The building is old and lovely, almost iconic. If you know this area, you know Superfish. I think this is where my family always got their fish and chips when I was little. I used to tear all the batter off my portion of haddock and scoff it down in three bites. Hang on, I've just realised why I was a chubby kid! Now the menu has got a bit more healthy. They even do grilled fish. As well as pots of tea, they serve wine now - chardonnay, pino grigio and rioja. My friend and her family took their dad here for his birthday and brought champagne to drink with their fish and chips. Now that is class. They also do a very nice looking lunch special for £5.95, which is scampi, a bread roll, some salad and a soft drink. It's gotta be had!
