I'm so happy with the cut and blonde, partial highlights that I got from Grace at Statements. She did a great job and I recommend her. It's not easy to find a person who does blonde well. She's very grounded and professional. Her IG is @graceinpdx I messaged with her on Instagram to book. The salon has a wall of windows that give natural lighting. They also gave me complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and candy snacks, which created a nice vibe while I was there. The salon has a parking lot in the back. This is a fantastic feature because the last four Portland salons that I went to had incredibly inconvenient parking. At Statements you can relax during your service without having to stress about a parking meter. read more

This place is under new management. Carlie is running this place and the vibe is great! I just became a client earlier this year when I was searching for a new stylist. I decided to try my local neighborhood salon and am so happy I did! Carlie listens to what you want and makes it happen. I have shoulder length hair and like texture on the ends, which she figured out immediately. I highly recommend this salon!! Jonni at Statements Salon has been cutting/coloring/perming my hair since 1988! She does a fabulous job of listening to what I want and making suggestions when I'm not sure where I want to go with my hair. She takes pride in what she does, and it shows. She offers to do touch-ups and follow-ups on whatever we've done to my hair and I've never needed to go back to have her fix anything. She's very reliable - it's extremely rare for her to reschedule an appointment and she can usually accommodate if I need to move an appointment. Even when I lived in Salem, I'd drive up to Portland to have Jonni do my hair, and I'd definitely recommend her to anyone! read more

I was turned on to Statements several years ago by my coworkers. I had hair halfway down my back and was more than ready to let it go. Jonni gave me the world's greatest short haircut and we were off and running! She is a great listener and able to weave a client's ideas/inspiration with her expertise to deliver a style/cut that not only works in the moment but also grows out well. Speaking of that, we're now growing my hair back out (and coloring it blue/black, which is super fun!). I've never had a long hairstyle that I've liked, so the challenge is on! Jonni's rates are incredibly affordable and she always offers complimentary touch ups if something is not right with the cut after a few days (I've never had to take her up on it). The salon's atmosphere is way relaxed and easygoing. No pretense at all, just high quality, down to earth hair management, minus upscale pricing! read more

Dawn has been styling and coloring my hair for more than ten years. She is a true professional and a master of her craft. I have naturally curly hair and, in the past, was traumatized by hair cutters who would take too much off, leaving my hair an ugly mass of cowlicks. Now I will not let anyone touch my hair, except Dawn. She knows her stuff, and I can be assured of perfection every time. Dawn recently cut and colored my hair, and I am so pleased with the results! read more

I read reviews here and went and saw Johnny last week. I had a poor curly hair cut about 8 months ago from another stylist across town - that stylist tried to correct what I didn't like about the cut and it got even shorter. I waited several months to see someone again hoping my hair would grow out! Johnny is a kind woman with a large amount of experience and competence. She herself has difficult curl with a mind of its own. She was conservative with the cut with me, letting me know she would rather me come in a few days asking for more to be cut - than the alternative of too much cut. My hair the next day after the cut was such a better shape! The flatter areas are bouncy and curly again. The back by my crown looks great too. I trust this woman! Woot! read more

I went to Statements Salon for the first time last week and loved the experience. All the stylists exude a kindness and the energy is really great in the salon. Jonni cut and styled my hair and she is just awesome. She really knows hair, so well that she can see the difference of how my hair curls on each side of my head (my right curls up more than my left) and adjust the cut accordingly. And overall, she is a cool, wise person. I have found my stylist and couldn't be happier with my hair! read more

Dawn is great! I have been going to her for 4 years now and I've never been disappointed. She does amazing highlights that grow out so gracefully. There is never a sharp line that is obvious when you have grow out, which is something I think is super important. read more

Jonni is one of those rare stylists who gives you a great cut every time. She is not only great with her scissors, but she UNDERSTANDS what you try to explain to her about what you want! The way she works is with you, not to you, and I have never gotten a bad haircut from her. I am sold! Nicest place and nicest lady ever. I 100% recommend her for a cut! read more

Statements Salon is a modest yet personable and professional full-service salon. Sheli gives me some of the best cuts & colors I've ever received. I travel quite a ways for the service, but it's worth the trip. Sheli is thoughtful and precise about her profession. I have been going to Statements Salon for years. My gal, Patti has been cutting and coloring my hair just the way I like it. We have ALL been to hairdressers who tell us what we should do with our hair. Patti and I discuss options and go from there. If you need a warm comfortable place to get your hair done, do a little hair product shopping this is your place. Patti also carries the Miche Handbags, which are very cool! Check these ladies out! read more

Patti has been styling my hair for over 30 years. We have gone through perms (the quickest wrap i have seen) with the least amt of frizz. In the 80's we did the big hair thing, boy can this girl tease hair. In the 90's we did short and sassy. I always got complements on my short hair styles by Patti. I have really enjoyed having highlights and color. Sometimes Conservative and sometimes a little wild. Over the years I have tested other salons, you know the ones, with the upscale looks and upscale pricing but I have never found anyone that came close to the talent that Patti possesses. I have fine, thin, limp hair that is not naturally beautiful but if you could see my hair now it is Beautiful (I just had some highlights and a cut done). Patti is really gifted with coloring. She listens to my needs and works her magic. I have had my husband, son, mother-in-law and other friends see Patti and have heard only praises. Patti was so patient last year with my Mother-in-law. She was 90 years old and can't really say what she wants but gets so upset if it's not done the way she wanted it. When Patti was done Mom had a big smile on her face and was quite pleased. We had to move last fall to Houston. My son had several haircuts over the school year (Middle school), after the last one he wanted to wait to see Patti on this visit to Portland for a "really good cut". She also gave him some highlights that look so natural and he loves the way his hair looks and feels. If you are stuck in a rut or simply want to try someone new, I would strongly suggest you give Patti a call. She will listen to your ideas and have some of her own. Patti really is the best of the best. read more
