The address on this listing, at 1831 Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh, is for Troop C. In North Carolina, there are nine troops with the letter designations A through I. Each troop is based in a different city and has jurisdiction in a different set of counties. Troop C covers the Triangle. I often make the drive from Chapel Hill to High Point to Charlotte and on into South Carolina and Georgia, and back. The drive takes place on I-40 and I-85 and spans, I believe, four troop jurisdictions: C, D, E, and H. I haven't seen too much activity from Troop C over the past ~2.5 years. I think the most activity I consistently see is from Troop E on I-85 in Davidson County, near Lexington. That part of the interstate is easy to speed on because of the numerous lanes and low volume of traffic. It's also a great place for the State Highway Patrol to set up speed traps. I see the traps regularly. People also love to speed between Durham and Greensboro, which I believe is mostly Troop D territory. I'm a little surprised I haven't seen more people pulled over on that merged stretch of I-40 and I-85. It's relatively dangerous because of the higher volume of traffic between the Triangle and the Triad. State Highway Patrol is a Law Enforcement division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Thank you to the State Highway Patrol for keeping us safe on the highway.

It is apparently the longest pedestrian bridge in the state. Bringing the House Creek Greenway Trail over Interstate 440 and joining the Museum of Art with Meredith College. From the Museum parking lot, follow the blue trail and continue south and east until you get to the bridge. You can also listen for the sounds of traffic. Note that the trail is not lighted at night. As I walked by snagging some pictures I saw an inviting sign so decided to walk in. Free to the public and did the self-guided tour. It was such a nice detour and so glad I did. The old Library inside, rotunda, and old Senate chambers were especially cool to see. I tried imagine of what it was like in those halls in the mid-1800's. I would recommend stopping in and check it out.

The Raleigh Police Memorial was established in 2009 to keep the memory of alive of the men and…read morewomen who made the ultimate sacrifice serving Raleigh. The memorial currently honors eight individuals who died in the line of service. The officers showed a commitment to duty, honor, service and safety for those who live and work in Raleigh. The memorial is in Downtown Raleigh at the Raleigh Municipal Building near Nash Square. The memorial has a water feature and 21 pillars that represents the community from which the water flows. At sunset, the water table reflects the sky and illuminates the names in blue. I've not seen the memorial at night but will make sure I stop when I am in Downtown Raleigh at night to pay tribute to these officers.

The Memorial is in Nash Square in Downtown Raleigh and across the street from a fire station. The large memorial is a bronze statue with four firefighters. Three firefighters are rescuing a fourth that was under a steel beam. The names of the fallen heroes who have died since 1902 had to be redone as they ran out of room as unfortunately more names needed to be added. They also include those who have died of heart attacks and car accidents. If you are near Nash Square make sure to stop by this memorial.
