The first place that he insisted on stopping at was the Illini Union. When we visited, this was a hub of activity. Illini Fest was going on this weekend. We went to the basement, which was home to several restaurants, a recreation center featuring a bowling alley, and a live band playing music. I really enjoyed seeing his old stomping grounds. If you're on the University of Illinois campus, I recommend going to the Illini Union.

Museum was well staffed with security. Superbly clean. It took us a little over an hour to walk through the various rooms. Several of the rooms were empty, awaiting new exhibits. I'd probably come back again when the academic year is in full swing. My favorite part of this visit was the Blue and White Ceramics exhibit they have on display. There are many great pieces of art to see, though. Ellnora Krannert was extremely generous and numerous pieces in the museum are thanks to her. I wouldn't recommend this museum to children under 13-14, unless the kids/tweens/teens are really into art, art history, etc. I just think the little ones would be bored. You can visit KAM's online calendar to see if they ever offer children's programming. (Head to the Spurlock Museum if you're on campus with little ones instead.) Highly recommend KAM to anyone else. We're very fortunate to have an art museum of this caliber in our community. Summertime is the perfect opportunity to explore these locations on campus. I could of seen replacing us if we all did terrible job or never showed up but that was not the case . They put Micromanagment and profits in front of people and I bet its matter of time they ruin the country club .

It is so good to have an event center here in Champaign, IL like the City Center, Space can be rented out as well for other events.

The bands who performed were Cold, Awake for Days, and University Drive. This was my first time attending a show here. I drove from out of town about an hour to get to this place. I used the map on the City Center's website to find the venue and the venue's parking. The map was easy to read and helped me find the place very easily. Very easy parking. I would consider this a medium size venue. It's larger than a small bar but smaller than a larger arena. It is small enough to still get that intimate experience at a concert. If you want to be as close to the stage as possible, be sure to purchase the "Party Pit" ticket. There is a barrier in between the Party Pit and the General Admission. I went with the Party Pit ticket to get as close to the stage as possible. The sound system sounded great for all three bands. The bar is good size and the service provided was good. No complaints at all. They also have some upper balcony seating, but I did not venture into that location so am unable to comment on it. December 1, 2019: I attended the Static-X Wisconsin Death Trip 20 Year Anniversary tour. Bands that performed were Static-X, Dope, Mushroomhead, Wednesday 13, and Raven Black. There were some sound system issues while 2 of the bands performed. The band members became a bit upset, but the venue/sound guys resolved them pretty fast. Rest of the show the sound was great. General Comments: The venue does a nice job of bringing in a variety of different music. Strengths include the size of the place. It is not too big and not too small. Nice bar that is well stocked (satisfied my IPA desires) and it provides good service. Great stage with a nice sound system. Security staff was very down to earth and accommodating. Areas that could be improved: While I never had to wait that long for the bathroom, the bathrooms are not that big for the amount of people that attend shows. Larger bathrooms would be nice to reduce wait time. Serving food during the shows would be a nice add as well. I'll definitely be back to future shows here.

Dare I say this might possibly be one of Chambana's best kept secrets…read more My husband and I just moved to Champaign five weeks ago and I stumbled upon the Staerkel Planetarium while using Yelp! to find "things to do in Champaign." Yay! What isn't there to love about a planetarium? (unless you're prone to motion sickness :-P) We visited at 9pm on a Saturday night for one of their Pink Floyd shows. The young woman selling tickets was very friendly, as was the gentleman (i assume a member of Parkland's faculty) who took our tickets and introduced the show. There were about a dozen other people of all ages in the dome with us. Plenty of seating. Show lasted an hour. Honestly, this is the best $6 you'll spend in the entire county. Talk about a great family friendly, friends or date night out, students, scout troops and more! Appropriate for those aged 1-101. My husband and I would like to see all of the shows they're offering throughout 2018 You can save $3 if you buy tickets to 2 back-to-back shows (total $9 per person). I think we'll do this next time. Facility was very clean and well-maintained. Big parking lot next to the planetarium. Three different shows are offered on Friday & Saturday night at 7pm, 8pm & 9pm; matinees offered during week beginning in June. Check Parkland's website for exact show titles. You can also pickup a 2018 summer show brochure at the planetarium if you're on campus. We'll definitely return. We're so fortunate to have this in the community!
