My father is a patient at this UMC clinic. He had an appointment which had been scheduled for a few…read moreweeks and always makes it a point to be punctual. The day of his appointment we were 10 minutes early, checked in with the receptionist, and the man who handles insurance, and payments. During our long wait in the waiting lobby we had inquired about the length of time waiting to be seen, but weren't given any explanation as to what the delay was. The doctor informed later, while my father was being seen that he was running behind, and was playing catch up for the days appointments. The lobby being rearranged and set up for a Chamber of Commerce event taking place later on seemed to be of more importance than patient care. Professional, business etiquette is lacking at this facility. Getting phone calls returned in a timely manner, and keeping the patient informed in regards to their care is not a top priority here either. To expect this kind of service at an establishment other than a 'professional medical' office is standard in DR. To get this kind of service at a healthcare facility is truly disappointing.

The nurses, doctors, lab techs, etc. (anyone behind the front lobby) are all wonderful and helpful…read more They are kind and understanding and they listen and engage in a professional and comfortable doctor/patient relationship. The negatives are the front desk employees. They usually act like they have somewhere better to be. They bill incorrectly until suddenly you have racked up a huge amount of charges and they can't even explain where those charges came from. The girls who make the appointments are sweet, but the employees in the very front are those that have made my experience less positive. Also, no one ever answers the phone! So: Pros: Great actual medical care Cons: poor customer service with the front desk administration

The problem I have is with the girl who does appointments. 1. She never answers the phone when she's supposed to. I have seen her ignore it and I have tried making appointments through calling with no luck. 2. She chews gum in the office and rolls her eyes the whole time you're making a follow up appointment. She is completely rude and acts like she doesn't want to be there. I wish they would fire her already.

I had taken home a sleep apnea device a while back, then took it back the next day. When I called…read moreabout the results, I was told it showed I do have sleep apnea but the device only tracked my apnea for a few hours, because it came off my face sometime during the night while I was asleep. When I stopped by to ask if they could put my results in writing, they called the dentist to talk with me in the lobby; he then reiterated what I'd already been told by his staff. When I asked him if he could put that in a quick memo for the VA, he stated he couldn't because my sleep study was "inconclusive." So did he think that I would just suddenly NOT HAVE SLEEP APNEA if my study had lasted another 4 hours?! He couldn't just write that the study showed that I do have sleep apnea which was tracked for x amount of hours? As many times as I had previously gone there to get my teeth cleaned I really didn't think I was asking too much. So unfortunately I can only give this dental practice 1 star, if I could give it zero stars I would.

I reside in a small Central Texas city about 130 miles from Del Rio/Cuidad Acuna, Mexico…read more While I became in urgent need to replace full upper dentures, I was shocked to discover that local dentists were charging up to $3,500 and requiring wait times of up to nearly two weeks. So, I contacted by direct phone my former dentist, Dr. Juan Ortiz Ramon in Cuidad Acuna -- Del Rio's sister city. ( Incidentally, I had once resided at Ft. Clark Springs, a senior retirement community near Del Rio/Acuna, where folks w/o dental insurance had highly recommended Dr. Ortiz). I called Dr. Ortiz and he scheduled me for the early afternoon following day. I arrived expediently at his modern clinic after a two-hour drive that included a quick border crossing time and easy street directions. With no waiting time in the clinic's comfortable, well-appointed reception area, Dr. Ortiz took denture impressions and rushed them off to his mould technician/ The next morning at 10, I was perfectly fitted with a new set of upper dentures. Snug, tight and smile-right! Dr. Ortiz' price: $675.00....NEARLY 1/6th THE US PRICE in a faction of the delivery time!!! Totally satisfied. Here's Contact Info; USA Telephone: 830-317-1345 Cuidad Acuna location: about 11 blocks up the main downtown street , Hidalgo, to its major intersection with Serdan. Gotta have a US passport and driver's license. Expect long lines returning to Texas (up to 1 hour at peak traffic). Pee beforehand!! All best, Bob Parvin
