So, I contacted by direct phone my former dentist, Dr. Juan Ortiz Ramon in Cuidad Acuna -- Del Rio's sister city. ( Incidentally, I had once resided at Ft. Clark Springs, a senior retirement community near Del Rio/Acuna, where folks w/o dental insurance had highly recommended Dr. Ortiz). I called Dr. Ortiz and he scheduled me for the early afternoon following day. I arrived expediently at his modern clinic after a two-hour drive that included a quick border crossing time and easy street directions. With no waiting time in the clinic's comfortable, well-appointed reception area, Dr. Ortiz took denture impressions and rushed them off to his mould technician/ The next morning at 10, I was perfectly fitted with a new set of upper dentures. Snug, tight and smile-right! Dr. Ortiz' price: $675.00....NEARLY 1/6th THE US PRICE in a faction of the delivery time!!! Totally satisfied. The day of his appointment we were 10 minutes early, checked in with the receptionist, and the man who handles insurance, and payments. During our long wait in the waiting lobby we had inquired about the length of time waiting to be seen, but weren't given any explanation as to what the delay was. The doctor informed later, while my father was being seen that he was running behind, and was playing catch up for the days appointments. The lobby being rearranged and set up for a Chamber of Commerce event taking place later on seemed to be of more importance than patient care. Professional, business etiquette is lacking at this facility. Getting phone calls returned in a timely manner, and keeping the patient informed in regards to their care is not a top priority here either. To expect this kind of service at an establishment other than a 'professional medical' office is standard in DR. To get this kind of service at a healthcare facility is truly disappointing.

He is always so patient and gentle, and he will always make sure that I am comfortable. He is also really good at numbing! I have had doctors who are so rough with it and then have to go back and re-numb the area because they didn't hit the right area or inject enough. He always gets it right and is gentle about it.
