When I stopped by to ask if they could put my results in writing, they called the dentist to talk with me in the lobby; he then reiterated what I'd already been told by his staff. When I asked him if he could put that in a quick memo for the VA, he stated he couldn't because my sleep study was "inconclusive." So did he think that I would just suddenly NOT HAVE SLEEP APNEA if my study had lasted another 4 hours?! He couldn't just write that the study showed that I do have sleep apnea which was tracked for x amount of hours? As many times as I had previously gone there to get my teeth cleaned I really didn't think I was asking too much. So unfortunately I can only give this dental practice 1 star, if I could give it zero stars I would.

Based on my research the zirconia arches are under a $1000 each and implants are available for under $100 each. I let them know on the phone that I had a hard limit of $20k for this procedure but they still asked me come in anyway. After pleasantries, I reiterated my hard limit and they continued to go through the imaging process. In the end they presented an itemization that added up to over $72k and then graciously reduced that, by doing nothing, to just under $50k. The Hippocratic oath indicates a doctor should do no harm. That should include psychological and financial harm. Based on my calculations they are attempting a profit margin of ~1000%. Had they been honest and transparent I would have respectfully accepted the fact they could not meet my price point. Instead they had me take a day off work, drive 5 hours, and waste my time. This office needs to respect their clients more and reconsider their ethics. example retail dental supply pricing. I encourage you to do some web searching to explore the supply side pricing of these components. Be warned; it will infuriate you. I was told that the temporary crown would last 2 months before it needed to be replaced. It's fallen off twice in 5 weeks. So i pushed up my appointment to have the permanent one installed to today. I confirmed that change with the front desk staff 4 separate times on the phone. 4 times I said "September 2nd, Friday, right?" and 4 times I was told that I would be seen today. When I show up today, I was told they have scheduled me on September 9th, that the doctor wasn't in and that my old appointment was filled so now I have to wait a full week with half a tooth to get it repaired. And they acted like it was my fault that they wrote down the wrong day on their calendar. Incompetence is one thing, but incompetence with an attitude is just plain unacceptable. I'm sure there are other decent dentists in this town, but I will never go back to Louis Cadena Dentistry after they finally put my crown in. Poor dental service and horrid customer service. The day of the procedure I went to San Antonio where my teeth were removed by Dr. James Mazock of San Antonio, who I will review later in a separate entry, while Dr. Taylor traveled to Dr. Mazock's office from Del Rio to install the implants. The procedure took a full eight hours, but I had no concept of time as I was well sedated the entire time. Woke up with a terrific new set of teeth, and best of all, no pain. If you're like me and have been putting off going to the dentist, there's no reason not to now. Dr. Taylor and his staff will have you in good hands.

He prefers to do a root canal in two visits but did my son's in one visit, painlessly. As for technology, he has more than either of the two Texas dentists I went to. After major dental work, he might give you a Tylenol is all. I was shocked, expecting a large amount of pain, but I was fine. I've been going to him now since 2007, I believe, and I'll be his patient for the rest of my life. He speaks English fluently, has an American cell phone number and a P.O. Box address across the border (3 miles) into Del Rio. He's very accommodating for office hours when necessary. Acuña is a very safe little town full of dentists and cute little shops. They cater to Americans so it isn't like some towns you hear about. You're safe. Oh! His rates are about 1/4 to 1/2 of what American dentists charge. You don't wait a month to get your permanent porcelain crowns. It's next day service and he demands perfection from them. I love going there!
