Once that contract is signed, if anything unexpected comes along, it's considered an extra and will cost you money. My entire experience with Rescue Data was just one extra fee after another. In addition to that, they are not very good. They do not do the work in house. They send the hard drive to China, and a Chinese firm does the recovery. Rescue Data are just middlemen. When the work was completed, they sent me a screen shot of the "recovered" data folders. It looked good, all my subfolders were there. But it was only a screen shot, so I couldn't open the folders to inspect the files. It was only after I paid and was able to actually open the files that I noticed about 1/3 of the folders were empty! They didn't actually recover the contents, just the folder names, and made sure I couldn't detect that until after I had paid $1000 in fees. For what it's worth, the customer service was fine. Staff were polite and easy to get a hold of, but it just doesn't compensate for paying for something I didn't get.
