I jumped to the conclusion that the overbilling was intentional and made a huge stink about it. I was wrong. Kevin showed me the website of his payment processor and it looked like my account as cancelled. He was able to get it all figured out, once he knew what the problem was. If you have a billing issue, especially when ending your membership, go to Kevin directly and give him the chance to make it right.

Prior to signing up, I had no experience in martial arts, but had a vague idea of what I was looking for. As a fan of MMA, and always enjoying the fighters with a Muay Thai background, I knew that's what I wanted to train. I also knew I didn't want to do "cardio kickboxing". On the flipside, I didn't want to train somewhere that was 100% focused on training active fighters! I wanted to learn *real* muay thai but in a somewhat casual manner. Guy Chase's gym is utterly perfect for this. Guru Guy will teach you the real thing. For instance, you aren't just going to hit bags repeatedly merely for the sake of bringing your heartrate up. He's going to make sure you're utilizing your range properly and not lowering your guard while you throw punches. You'll learn proper form, combinations, blocks, counters, etc. Everything is very practical and designed for maximum efficacy in the ring - like what you'd be taught in a gym in Thailand. I was also worried that there would be pressure to partake in hard sparring. There is sparring, however it's light and technical and you only partake if you want. As someone who is competitive and wants to put what I've learned to the test, but also doesn't want to eat heavy shots to the head, it's perfect. Best shop I've had the pleasure to work with!!!…read more I've been out of the archery scene for awhile due to life changes, injury, etc. Decided I wanted to dip back into things and needed the bow tuned along with some new arrows etc. I'm a target archer...not a hunter....and decidedly out of practice. It's a touch embarrissing to walk into a busy shop with so many capable archers and be so shaky at full draw. (My fundamentals are okay but I need some conditioning.) The new owner Jon (and, it must be said, his supporting staff) have simply been fantastic!!! Zero judgement!! Didn't make me feel small for not arriving with a camo painted 80lb hunting bow that I could hold at full draw for 10 minutes LOL (despite it being the start of hunting season when they're undoubtedly buried with work from that market segment.) His staff was welcoming & friendly to a person and he himself took a direct interest in my target gear, my target focused setup, and he spent more time than I should have expected talking setup, next steps, making recommendations, offering choices, and discussing with genuine interest, my goals and objectives on the indoor range. I'm a fan! If you are into archery, have thought about it, or just need something for your setup....these guys (and ladies) are the real deal matter what your focus might be! One encounters such good service so infrequently these days that I'm looking for more to "support my local sheriff! Gratitude to Jon and his staff!

New Ownership within last 2 years…read more I could not be happier with my crossbow and the service I received going in to East Coast Archery. Jon sat me down and showed me the options and compared the different models showing me the differences, pros and cons. They have a huge selection of crossbows and compound bows. He had me shoot the final 3 crossbows I was trying to decide on. He again sat with me to make sure I understood how to properly use it and then we the used a Chronograph and dialed in the cross bow. Prices are excellent and service is second to none. If you're looking for a great shop East Coast Archery is the place for you.

In July I started attending classes. I had no martial arts training or experience…read more I found that I enjoy 90 minutes of jiu jitsu training much more than other exercise. I started with the attitude that I would go once or twice a week. This week, I look forward to attending four lessons. Last week, I went to my first open mat that this gym offers every Saturday. I did loose 10 pounds since I started. 10 pounds does not excite me, what excites me is that I've been able to keep those 10 pounds off. This morning, I weighed in 12 pounds down. What I didn't really expect was the quality of the community that this dojo supports. People have been friendly and supportive. I believe Kevin is responsible for creating, incubating, and growing such a positive environment.
