Hat is fenced off so there's no climbing or touching...it's cool to see for a couple minutes...but then it's time to move on. We took the trail down to see the ducks, loads of fowl residents right now, as well some deer hanging around near the bridge at the end of the pond. You'll find a massive amount of parking, and a large grassy area with lots of picnic tables and a volleyball net. Nothing spectacular this time of year I'd say, but it was nice for a quick leg stretch while driving through.

Mary and Wayne were incredibly helpful and accommodating of our family, as this was our maiden voyage! The place is well lit, but not intrusively so. The bathrooms are clean and have a shower area inside. It was a bit to cold and windy to swim so we took full advantage of the park and playground while we were here! We had a peaceful, pleasant stay here for two days and nights, and are looking forward to returning.

We are scheduled to come back in Sept for 3 night and are looking forward to it.

We had hoped to keep our tow connected since this was an overnight stop. Maneuvering around to exit would have been challenging or impossible with a tow. Convenient to highway, but very congested in RV park and gas station area. Diesel pumps on inside pumps and required going in to cashier. Went N on 84 to SpaceAge and easily fueled up.

Here there is a campground, large grassy fields (for doggies to run like maniacs), a boat launch, hiking paths, and bathrooms. I've been here to run my dogs around, attempt some fly fishing (we were skunked), and most recently to geo-cache. Oh, and apparently, you can also ride your horse around here as well. Interesting.

So I asked my husband...Iasnt it pelicans are suppossed to be in the Ocean? You know Salt Water Ocean? He said yes... And so today we agreed to go in there and to my surprised.."YES!" Theres alot of pelican in there and some other kind of birds that I never seen before here in the tri-cities.. I also saw some herons...WOW! this is the first time I saw pelicans and herons...really neat! I cannot really go so close but I told somepictures from the side of the water. It was neat. The park itself is not that big though I saw few trais and some camp site with RV Parking (with electrical plugs and water faucets)... each parking has a picnic tables too. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean even the park look like deserted. You should try to go to this park if you want to see something new.

The cabins have a cozy vibe but they are pretty standard cabins. I heard they are about to take out all the mini fridges inside the cabins along with the gas oven / 3 burner stove top on the deck. That feature has been a staple for us. Not bringing our big @$$ cook stove was awesome but no more. That's fine. We'll be bringing our big @$$ stove.

Well internet, IT EXISTS and I survived to tell the tale. The campground is in Desert Aire which is a little community south of Matawa on the Columbia River. lf you're interested in boating or want a base to explore the rest of the area this is a great place to stay. During memorial day weekend the place was full (so reserve online ahead), the people there were mostly families and it wasn't very noisy at night. If you have a boat, the boat launch was rebuilt this year and is really nice. Couple of downsides to keep in mind: there's only pit toilets and no showers, there's one water tap from a well near spot 14, it can get windy in the evening so if you have wind protection you can put up bring it, the grills are near the lake and not by the camp spots so if you have a portable grill/firepit etc. bring it too. Closest big grocery store is in Mattawa, but there's a gas station and convenience store in town.

Oh yeah - seeing the stars from the hot spring pool was dreamy. I'm not sure this would be a pick if the place was full of - the sites are kind of close. But I imagine many families create a lot of great memories here. Make sure to get off at the correct exit or you'll be driving for what seems like a couple miles on a gravel road. But it does immediately put you in the campy state of mind.

Like WAY FIRST CLASS. Price is also very reasonable. Checking -in after hours is very smooth. Now let's talk about the hot springs... There are two pools and they are extremely clean and comfortable. Here's the bad part, they add chlorine. This is just an absolute no, no, no for me. I come to a hot springs for pure chemical free water. I totally understand why they do it (The pools are a distance from the water source -which is located at their resort next door).... which requires they add some chlorine). I get it. But now that I know... i know and I just can't soak in chlorine. I will, however, stay at their luxury resort next door because those tubs are completely chemical free. I'll let you know how it goes in the event I can ever afford a luxury hot springs resort.

Amenities: * All sites have electricity up to 50 amps. * Sewer and water (not all sites) * All sites have fire pits and aluminum picnic. tables. * 1 Central bath house. * Small marina and boat ramp. * Day use area with kids play and swimming area. * Dump station. * Open grassy areas. Posatives: + Very clean and well maintained. + Sites are nicely spaced apart. + Check-in process is simple and easy. + All sites have electricity up to 50 amps. + Quiet, relaxing, family atmosphere. + Pleanty of trees for shade. Negatives: - Bugs! Come prepared. - No direct access from the RV park to the marina and day use area. Long walk or quick drive around. Other: & Alcohol is not permitted in the park. & No Wi-Fi Conclusion: Excellent destination stay.
