This is literally my first review, but I have to do Ann a solid, after only meeting her once six years ago when I bought my beautiful Ragdoll from her, and seeing the post below.
I had grown up with cats all my life, usually from the shelter. When I grew up, I did the same, but admittedly I did not have enough time for that cat. That was a mixed Russian blue, gorgeous, but difficult in the behavior. I gave him away to a friend who had a lot more time for him, and that was a wise decision for everyone.
After months of getting over the heartbreak and doing a lot of research I was able to identify the Ragdoll breed as being perfect for my personality and lifestyle.
Enter Ann.
I was quite determined to get a specific set of fur color and pattern in a specifically female cat, in a specific period of time. I called everywhere at least one state away from me and nothing (I was in Minnesota). When I found StarliteRags online they also did not have the specifications I wanted, but when I talked to Ann she gave me the option of this one kitten she had that fit my ideal kitten (that she actually did not put in her site because she intended to keep this perfect cat for breeding). Ann was very professional in our interaction.
She gave me a market price, which was fair, considering Ragdolls are super expensive and I knew that. She was a responsible breeder, only letting me pick up my kitty after the 12 week period. She made me sign a contract to not de-claw. She feeds her cats high-quality food, which I continued to feed. She had taken care of vaccinating the cat and spaying her. When I arrived at her house, I was able to see a very clean and cat friendly home. In retrospect, it's amazing how clean it was since Ragdolls do shed a ton when past the first year (in my experience). She allowed me to spend some time with my new kitten so she could acclimate with her new person, before taking her to my home. This was so long ago I can't remember much else and might be missing other/more important positive parts of the experience.
My cat is now six years old. She is extremely healthy, including weight. Her only issues are dental, and that is my own fault for not being more on top of it, and we're taking care of that now. I lived in an apartment until recently, but did take her to the park when climate allowed to get her to see the world a little, included other creatures and pets. I'd put her on a leash for protection (although I was sure she'd never actually take off), and allow her and dog pets to meet her; she didn't hiss that I can recall, she was just, well, briefly curious. Now I live in a house with a huge backyard and she is very curious, (tries to be) athletic, and is very happy. We live with another cat, a maine coon mix male, who is very friendly too and they've known each other intermittently in the past six years. After a short period of adjustment of living together full-time, they are very well together. We are hoping to welcome a puppy soon and are sure she'll be able to manage the changes just fine (obviously, provided adjustment periods, which are normal). My cat even nicely tolerates very long road trips (7h+) without making a fuss. Her temperament is excellent. She follows me everywhere I go, and is a pleasant companion.
She has never given me issues, that weren't my own fault as an owner. She is just what you should expect from the Ragdoll breed specifications in terms of temperament, health, and behaviors. The only thing she doesn't do is the "flop" down when you pick her up, like I've seen in internet videos, but that is not why I wanted her. read more
