I made contact with Vicki at Top of the Ridge Kennel. I told her I was calling about a puppy on the web page and told her I was interested in the female. She said I don't think I have one and then she replies, "oh ya I do." She said it would be available about the 21st (the web posting said "ready Oct 21st") I explained I would like to pick up on the 28th as I had several days off work to acclimate the puppy to our home. I asked about the puppy's parents and she told me they were there. I asked for photos of the puppy to which she never said she would send. She just continued to tell me to send the money for the deposit. She went one to explain the puppy was to eat a boiled egg, lunch meat, and Vienna Sausage. I was skeptical this was appropriate but she was very convincing. Let it be known I knew another couple who got a puppy there. I told her I would send the deposit. She had me send it through "Cash App". I did this and I asked for more photos of the puppy. When I did she told me, "maybe next week my mom is in the hospital." I found this odd that I would have to wait a week. I was beginning to wonder who was taking care of the puppies if she wouldn't even be avail to send me a few photos of the puppy. She sent me one photo of the puppy seated on a purple blanket. I texted her and explained I would like to know what the puppy is eating and asked for a picture of the bag of food to ensure that I had the correct food and the exact food the puppy was eating. She again told me boiled egg and lunch meat. Then she told me Nutra Source. I assume now that she could not send me a picture of the bag of dog food because she did not have the puppy on site. I texted her on Monday and asked what time I could pick her up on the 28th. She told me that was an estimated date and "we go by eating." I explained to her I wanted to narrow down the time and she said she would text me when puppy was ready. Vicki was continually evasive when I asked questions. She would change to subject to "oh my mom is calling from the nursing home, I have to go." I tied to call her back an hour later and she would not answer. I left a message asking for her to email me pictures of the puppy and explained I wanted to see the parents and that I wanted to stop in either Friday or Saturday. I did. It ask for a call back as I was at work and just calling leaving the message as she was avoiding answering the phone. She claims that she tried to call me 8 times and could not reach me. She never tried to call me at work. I did not receive any messages. If she dis call me the 8 times like she said I would have clearly gotten at least one of those messages! She also told me that she was with her husband who was at the doctors office and that is why she could not talk. So which one was it really. Was it her mother calling or was it her husband. She cannot keep her lies straight. Later in the evening she tells me that I should only use one number to call her not two. She told me she was texting me at a Work number and told me she thought I was being mean not returning her call. That phone was a land line and does not accept a text message! She did text me one more picture of the puppy again sitting on a purple blanket. Clearly she took this photo or was sent this photo from someone else. At this point I told her that I was no longer interested as she does not give me any straight answers and that I would like my money refunded back to me. I also told her I read reviews and I would write the BBB and she told me that nobody would believe that anyway. The reviews on Top Of The Ridge are horrible. They pretty much mirror my experience. She told me that was before she owned it. What is odd is the web page does not list her as a owner. It states that she was the owner but now Kalob is the owner and she is the manager. It just does not add up. Again I explained I would like my deposit of $400 back and she told me no. I sent photos of the buyers agreement I found on line which list A&E as where the dog came from. This is a puppy farm. She told me no refunds and she will resell her. She continued with, "your poor kids are gonna be mad at you." I explained my children are not her concern and her concern should be refunding my money. Vicki is just a rude individual who told me that if I did not have the money to pay for the puppy I shouldn't take it out on someone else. Her entire story and the poor reviews all add up. She has no dogs except for the ones she buys from the puppy mills and tried to pass off as her own. I would stay far and far away from this lady. I have been honest with her that I would be placing a review, contacting an animal rights group, the BBB, and I will take her to small claims court if she does not return my money. The top of the ridge kennel is a first class operation all the way. I have looked long and hard for my new lifetime companion and finally found him. Vicki was very responsive to my requests including a number of texts. Their pricing was fare and my new best friend is terrific. When I arrived to pick up my guy I noticed the very clean and squared away operation. There were a number of people in the kennel store and taking delivery of their new buddies. Each animal is teated like their own. The place is spotlessly clean and the couple of people working there seem to love their job. This operation will not allow shipping of their animals. That says a lot right there. They want to be certain that each little guy is going to a loving home. This is the kind of operation that is needed when it comes to breeding and selling animals. read more

First, we got a Cavapoo from this place. Luna was and still is (3.5 years later) absolutely terrified of almost everything. Not sure if she was mistreated as a puppy or if it's in her nature- but it was different at first as this is not my first dog and know they shouldn't be THIS scared. Throughout the purchase process, we also received pictures of other dogs that Vicky claimed was ours. Luna has multiple health issues. To start off, Luna is constantly throwing up blood or just in general. At least every other day. Yes we went to the vet & are still in the process of treating Luna, but it's been a rough 3 years seeing a puppy in pain and throwing up all the time. Then, not sure how it crossed my mind to get another dog from them but it did. I purchased a shiba inu poodle from them and like Luna, she is terrified since day 1. Nova also came with some problems. Upon our first few weeks with her, Nova almost lost her life due to parvo. Nova also scratches her eyes & ears to the point where there is no hair, as somebody else in the review mentioned. So then I took it upon myself to see why both dogs have health issues. I checked all of the information I received when I purchased the dogs. I wanted to check who the vet was the examined Nova. The vet is nonexistent! I checked every Wisconsin vet database & nothing. I wonder if it's just a forged signature. So then I checked Lunas vet - A FELON FOR MALPRACTICE. I'm sad reading these reviews. I got my Teddy Bear dog from top of the Ridge Kennel in April 2018 and he's the best. Toby has the best disposition of any dog I know. He's happy healthy smart and the sweetest dog ever. He attracts attention every where we go. He's my emotional support dog and I take him everywhere I go. I take him to the dog parks and he plays with all the dogs big and small. He runs with me on my bike. Everyone who meets Toby wants a dog like him. He doesn't bark like a small dog he doesn't mess in the house like a lot of small dogs. He's just the best! read more

i am so pleased with the pup we bought. She is named Zoey and will four years old this July. She is very smart and is our sweatheart. She is honey colored with four white paws and a white "beard and "mustash". Everyone comments comments on how cute she is. We are so lucky to have her. Hats off to your kennel and your breeding. Please read this if you are considering buying a puppy from this breeder. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone and want to save others from having a similar experience. June 24th I texted Vicki and told her I was looking for a female toy cavapoo and she said she had two left. She sent the photos and when I said I wanted the one with red coloring she said she had to check to make sure it was still available. Why would you send a photo if you didn't know if it was still available or not? She texted me it was and so I placed the deposit. After placing the deposit I received a different picture of a younger cavapoo and I texted her back asking if that was when she was younger and she said no that's two weeks old. So clearly two different dogs and I wasn't getting the initial dog that she had to "check to see if it was still available". The second photo she had sent had the white coloring on it that I liked so I let it go. This was the minute I started questioning purchasing from her but since a family friend had purchased 3 dogs from her daughter (autumn) I trusted that it was fine. From there she said they would do photos every two weeks and send them to me. Week 4 came around and I never received any photos. I texted Vicki asking for them and she said pictures weren't till the following week. The next night I received a text with ONE 4 week photo. Confused again, but once again let it go. 6 weeks came around, I asked for her photos and Vicki replied "I'm on vacation till Oct 2nd please text then" (this was in July) I panicked and texted her back and said "I'm supposed to pick up the dog Aug 10th?" She replies "I'm back then and I always text when the puppy is ready". I then replied "im not understanding". She calls me and when I ask her about being gone till October 2nd she says "I didn't say that" I said yes in your texts. She responds "oh sorry I meant aug 2nd, I can't send photos and the person there doesn't do that, they just take care of them." At this point I had a bad gut feeling and was incredibly frustrated wondering would I even get the right dog at this point? Or a healthy one for that matter that has been well taken care of? A week later (last week of July - not aug 2nd like she had said) I received her 6 week photo. She was adorable so I was relieved to see her and excited again and tried to keep telling myself it was fine and would all work out. Thursday, August 6th I texted her asking when I could pick up the puppy as she was 8 wks that week. Vicki said on Saturday the 8th or Sunday the 9th. I had asked if I could get her Monday the 10th and she said yes. Friday the 7th I received a text from Vicki saying that she didn't wean great and we would have to delay a week. I was disappointed but felt it was best for the dog so fine. The weekend goes by and I don't hear anything else. I texted Vicki on Tuesday the 11th at 9am asking how she was doing and if Monday the 17th would be ok. 245 that day I receive a text saying "she's not doing good at all, she has fading puppy syndrome and might not make it. I didn't want to call yet but if you want to talk we can" I was completely shocked, heartbroken and felt like this whole thing was a TOTAL scam. You didn't want to call me and tell me about this? A puppy I was suppose to pick up in ONE week. I spoke with Vicki and she said I could pick another puppy and I said please refund me my deposit. She responds she will when she gets reception. The next morning (Wednesday the 12th) I texted asking for a receipt that the refund had been processed. I get no response. 130 that afternoon I text again saying "has the refund been processed?" She texts back saying she texted me asking for the last 4 digit of my card number and I never responded. I've never had a problem receiving her texts at this point and based off her communication, I have a hard time believing that. She then asks me when I put the deposit down. Hard to believe she doesn't know or keep track of that either but ok. I ask her how long it takes to receive the refund and to send me a receipt showing it was processed. She says 3 days and that she keeps "clicking send receipt" but I'm not getting it. I let the weekend go by and on 8/17 still no refund.Texted her early that morning about it and no response. Called my bank that afternoon and there was no refund pending. Texted her again at 130 that afternoon about what my bank said and no response once again. At 350 she finally texted back "OK". I quickly responded "has the refund been processed or not?" She then texted me a screenshot of the refund and I asked was that processed today or last Wednesday like you had said you did? She responded with "I sent it again today" So you sent the refund twice? The refund was back in my account this morning 8/19, so she never sent it on 12th like she said she did. Horrible business ... someone called to see if they could get a Shitzu pup - said they didn't have one. Two weeks later they call back and say they have two litters to choose from. (Coincidence? Please keep in mind it takes 63 days to whelp a litter) When asked if they could see the pups parents, they said they couldn't. Not only did these people still buy from them, they have had to pay over 3 grand to have a liver stent put in because the dog couldn't pee. THIS IS NOT GOOD BREEDING, PEOPLE. This is the DEFINITION of a BACK YARD BREEDER. Hmmm... seems to me they're buying dogs from the puppy mills around the area and placing them in their own kennel to pop out MULTIPLE mixed breed litters, or whatever people are calling and asking for. (Not to mention has already been reported to the BBB for ADMITTING she buys puppy mill dogs and sells them as her own). If I could give them a zero review, I would! Trust me, you do not want to get a puppy from this scam artist. Nothing but problems! This is a puppy mill with a storefront! Disorganized, kept switching puppy pictures before pick up and had all kinds of excuses when she was questioned! Purchased food from her that she claimed puppy had been eating....he would not eat anything we bought from her. Ended up bottle feeding him so he didn't die!!! Do not purchase a dog from this person! My retired mother on a fixed income used money she was saving to buy a puppy. Paid $800. Got a puppy that needed dewormer and had diarrhea for 2 weeks. Took pup to the vet and spent over $200 on medication and special food. She felt rushed to get the puppy and had to decide right away. Bought a "purebred" but not given papers. After all the issues she looked at Better Business Bureau and found other people, one in particular with almost same story. For example she was told they were going on vacation so had to take puppy on a certain day. Lady on BB site said same thing! Coincidence? Not! This is their trick to make people feel like they need to decide right away and get a puppy or they will miss out. The puppy is better. My mother has bonded with the puppy and we feel will be a good companion eventually but hind sight is 20/20. Do your homework. Its obviously a puppy mill. Go to a shelter and adopt. read more

I have to give this kennel at least a star because I truly love our puppy. She has a great disposition and is a very sweet, healthy girl. But, (and a that's a BIG BUT) the more I uncover about this kennel the more I'm concerned. As I read through everyone's google reviews the one thing that is missing from most of the comments are your thoughts and feelings about the professionalism and ethical practices of this breeder. I don't want to toss around the term "puppy mill" because this is a very serious accusation. But, this facility is not transparent about there practices - which raises red flags. If you don't want the term puppy mill tossed around than you should be more open and honest with your customers. Red flags! They sell many different breeds of dogs at their facility. I know they have a handful of adult dogs pictured on their website, but those pictures definitely don't add up to the number of breeds they sell. Another red flag, when I asked for more information and pictures of my puppy's parents (which I never received) I told they are not "onsite"? Eventually, when questioned further the owner of the facility explained that they work with "local breeders" but did not elaborate further. It was like pulling teeth to get this information. I chose not to push this issue further because they already had my $200 dollar deposit. In my opinion, working with other breeders if fine.... but why aren't they more transparent about this with their customers? Why aren't these "local breeder" mentioned on their website? How do we know these "local breeders" are certified/licensed and caring for these dogs appropriately. Although the facility seems nice and clean, we have no idea where the parents/puppies live, how often the dogs are breed, and the type of care they're receiving. How do we not know that Top of the Ridge Kennel is not jut a pretty facility for unrepeatable "breeders" to sell their puppies? Again, the owners might have answers to all these questions but than please share this with your customers. If we are buying a puppy from a "certified/reputable kennel" we should be provided with all this information up front, and the owner should be able to answer these questions easily. My final concern is with the lack of professionalism from the owners. They are quick to respond and have you place a deposit, but once that occurs they're slow/vague to respond to your questions or concerns. I spoke with two other couples that purchased their puppies from this kennel. Both had frustrating experiences. One reports having a "battle" with just picking out and visiting their puppy after placing their deposit. They wanted to pick out their puppy in person and the owners completely pushed back. She also reports receiving extremely vague information about parents and breeding practices. The other couple had their pick-up date cancelled 2x. They lost multiple weeks they could have been caring/bonding with their pup. Please be a responsible consumer. I've definitely taken my time to educate myself of breeding practices and what red flags to look for since my experience. Hopefully, my review is helpful. Last thought, if the pricing seems too good to be true...it probably is. read more

On July 20th I placed a deposit for a female Bichon/poo. On Sept. 3rd I picked her up, but she seemed unwell. I took her to my vet in the Dells and her sugar was low. Vicki had mentioned she wasn't eating well. All that night she got worse and the next morning I knew she had to go to a vet. I couldn't get into mine so took Violet to Middleton Emergency vets. She stayed and I was informed through out the day of her condition. At 10 the evening of the 4th I was told nothing could be done and we let her go. Frankly, it's still hard for me to talk about the pain of seeing the puppy suffer. I told Vicki, she said I would get a different puppy. I just asked for the cash I had given her on pickup. I didn't ask for deposit, or the $2000. in vet bills. She told me no, a puppy or nothing. Finally I agreed. I had her pick a puppy as long as it was healthy. When I tried reaching her later she was on vacation, and seemed to be gone several times on vacation. As far as I knew I was getting a replacement puppy. I had given her all the notes from the vets as she requested. On October 13th I got a text from Vicki no puppy for me. So she kept my $1000, plus I'm out $2000 for vet bills. I filed a complaint with the state and the report said Vicki claimed to get my puppy from Kaleb Meltesen. She told me in a text that I have that she wouldn't breed that pair again as she had problems with them. So she is lying to someone. What honest, responsible business owner does this? My dog is AMAZING! Vicki has her puppies already using a doggie door and going outside potty! I brought my 9 week old Shichon puppy home and knew exactly where to potty! AND sleeping perfectly in a crate at night from DAY 1!!!! THE perfect puppy! Super friendly puppy. Its best to communicate via phone and not text. Its less confusing for everyone. People complaining that they got an unhealthy puppy from them. My puppies were all healthy and I understand the shots at 4 weeks. It's to protect puppy from disease. What a bunch of dipshits that think puppies don't need shots until 8 weeks! That is the wrong way to raise pups! People, don't believe them reviews about poor health pups! This isn't a review per say. But I did get a cavapoo from top of the ridge Kennel. She was born on August 28 2017. She has developed epilepsy and we have done many tests and see no cause so it could be genetic. So far she is on Keppra and phenobarbital but she is still having seizures. I was wondering if any of her siblings or any other dog purchased from here have the same issue and is there anything that worked to get rid of the seizures. read more

This is a horrible business, I was lied to and the owner was deceiptful. I call to get a puppy for my elderly parents for Christmas and was told They had one puppy left (a lie) andvI needed to send 200.00 to hold. I immediately sent 300.00, (my share of the payment for the puppy between my brothers and myself. Going to my parents to tell them I had found a puppy they freaked out and said they could not take a puppy it was to much work. I tried everything to see if I could convince them ( I was traveling across the country to come and see them), no luck convincing them. I told the owner what had happened by the next morning and told her I would not be able to take the puppy, she was so horrible to deal with from this moment on. She told me absolutely no refund even though I paid extra she would not give any money back and told me the puppy would be sold the next day ( another lie). Things just got worse from there and I never got any money back never got a puppy and was told I could not put the money toward another puppy either. I highly discourage anyone from dealing with them . I have dealt with reputable breeders who would never be like this. I have miniature Australian Labradoodle that is the love of my life and got him thru Primetime Labradoodles in Ferndale WA. Dorothy Monroe is the owner and amazing to work with. I can honestly say this is the 1st time I've had to write a negative review of a company. Unfortunately, my families experience with this breeder has been so poor I feel obligated so share my experiences. First off, we received the wrong dog compared to what we had picked out. We were in the market for golden doodles. The puppy we picked out had furnishings in the face. When we went to pickup our dog the owner was extremely scatter brained. Bringing up random information that left us feeling very rushed. She even brought out a male brown golden doodle at first. She did realize once he was in the play area that "oh you guy's got a female." There were 3 dogs remaining in the back room to get picked up. The brown male, and 2 vanilla colored doodles. We did not realize that our dog didn't look like the puppy we picked out until down the road. I'm sure someone were to ask, how didn't you know? Well when you are in the moment after waiting several weeks to pickup your pup, you're filled with excitement and not wanting to wait to bring her home! When we reached out to the owner we were met with a notion that we were making this up and lying about the situation. I would NOT recommend this breeder to anyone. If your budget allows for it, spend $250-500 more and purchase from a reputable breeder. DO YOUR RESEARCH. There are several unhappy customers. Do not fall victim to this place. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Vicki! She was very accommodating and patient while we tried to pick the best teddy bear for our family. We brought home Mr. Kyrie Irving on January 20th. He was one day shy of 8 weeks old. He is the sweetest boy ever. He is so smart, well taken care of, and above all, healthy! We had such a great experience that we are picking up another teddy bear male on March 9th from Vicki. Mr. Kyrie and my 4 kids will be welcoming Mr. JJ Redick and we can't wait!! I found Vicky online while searching for a goldendoodle. I have never been one to read reviews, or write them for that matter, but I wished I would've read them prior to putting a deposit down on my puppy. I put down my deposit after being shown some photos of male and female puppies left, I chose the one female that was left. Vicky was somewhat responsive when asking for updates on my puppy, sometimes she answered sometimes she didn't. She was always in a rush or going on vacation. I drove 2.5 hours to visit my puppy when she was 4 weeks old, we were in love. The next 3 weeks Vicky sent a few photos when asked, nothing too crazy. Fast forward to when it was time to pick up my puppy. We got there and no one was around, I called multiple times, no answer. After waiting for about 15 min she came to the kennel, no apology, just opened the door. She went to get our puppy and when she brought her out I knew it wasn't the right one, this puppy was dark red and mine was lighter cream.....then we went to hold her and I was POSITIVE it was not my puppy, it was a male. We laughed it off and she went to the back and grabbed the last female that was there, she did not have a collar on, like the others did, so that concerned me, but we were so excited to get our puppy we didn't pay it no mind. We paid her $1550 for the puppy and purchased a bag of dog food and headed home. A few weeks later we were noticing that the puppy we got just wasn't as "fluffy" as the one we had visited and gotten pictures of. We looked back at the pictures and it was at this time we were pretty sure we did not get the puppy we chose and paid for. We waited until the puppy reached 7 months before contacting Vicky, as we were waiting to see how the puppy would mature to; if she had the "look" we wanted(and expected) I would have let it go. I contacted her and let her know about the mixup and she blamed ME called me a liar. I would have respected this woman a lot more if she would have owned her mistake but instead she placed the blame on me, even thought I have the proof which I sent to her that she gave me the wrong dog. Please read reviews before buying anything from anyone!!!! This woman is extremely flakey and not organized. She rushes and is not compassionate. Her dogs looked healthy. I'll give her that, but she does not treat her customers well and when she makes a mistake she doesn't own up to it! Find a different breeder to buy from!!! read more
