My wife and I decided to head out to Tysons Galleria and check out CMX Cinemas to see Digger. We…read morechose this theater because you can actually have lunch or dinner while watching your movie, and it turned out to be a great experience.
We arrived just after 11:15, but the theater wasn't open yet, so we walked around and checked out some of the other theaters while we waited. I was impressed with the setup. The largest theater I saw held just over 100 people, while the smallest had a little more than 70. All of them had comfortable recliner seats with a small swing-out table and plenty of room.
They even have some special seats between the regular seats that they call social seats. They move and play sounds during certain parts of the movie to give you a more realistic, interactive experience.
Once our theater opened, we found our seats and got settled in. The recliners were very comfortable. Shortly after, a server came in and explained how everything works. You order whatever food and drinks you want, and they recommend having your order in within 30 minutes of the movie starting so they can deliver it to your seat before the movie gets going. If you need refills after the movie starts, you have to go out and get them yourself.
My wife ordered the chicken bowl, and I had the Wagyu sliders with fries. We also ordered a large popcorn and a large Coke. You can also order wine, beer, or pretty much whatever you want from the full bar.
Our food arrived just as the previews were starting. Everything looked great and was served on real plates, even the soda came in a nice glass, and the popcorn came in a bucket. Most importantly, both meals were really good. Honestly, we were surprised at how good the food was for a movie theater.
There were only four people in our theater for the 12:10 showing, which made it even better. No one talking around us, no people constantly getting up and walking in front of us, and no distractions. It was a very relaxing way to watch a movie.
One heads-up: going to the theater is expensive enough already, and if you have your food delivered to your seat, there is an 18% service charge added to your bill. It's something to be aware of before ordering.
Overall, we had a great experience at CMX Cinemas Tysons Galleria. The comfortable recliners, food and drinks delivered to your seat, and the overall atmosphere made it much more enjoyable than a typical movie theater. We were especially impressed with the food, and we will definitely be back again.
