I was able to make the appointment online which was convenient. Brett was personable and suggested a plan of attack given the ample time I have until my spring wedding. First the shoulders will be taken up. That was less than $50. Next he suggested we do the hem (about $200 for a multilayered lace dress). Then the simple bustle will be added to the back for about $150. Finally, I am to come back in February for any final adjustments in case I lose weight. Prices were well in line with my expectations. And my fiancé Paul will be ordering his rental suit from Brett in February. Will update as we get closer to our wedding date. Updated version Hi All,…read more  I know that everyone is different & everyone has a different notion about suits & what to buy.   But, if you need and are looking for a new suit and you are not an off the rack fit or perhaps you like made to measure (MTM) suits that are well constructed (full or half canvas) and that fit well, then please consider Art Solop of Benchmark Clothiers.     Art is a very nice friendly gentleman who knows his business & he offers very good MTM suits at reasonable prices.     I've tried to have MTM suits made by highly rated online vendors & even at one vendor at a brick & mortar location in D.C. and they can't compete in quality, amount of customization & fit. He can do almost anything from different types of pockets to styling to various linings and other many varied customizations all at the same price.  He doesn't even charge differently for different fabrics unlike many others.   My father was a custom suit fitter for Barneys NY and then for a custom uniform company in NYC for many years & he taught me all he knows about how a suit should fit. That's made me pickier than most when it comes to suits, how they fit and their construction for better or for worse. So believe me when I tell you that Art Solop is good & his suits are really well made. Unfortunately had a terrible experience with Benchmark Clothiers. After the initial…read moreconsultation/down payment, I was informed that the suit would take 5-7 weeks to be ready. After not hearing any updates by the 7 week mark, I called and was informed it would be another 3 weeks. 2 Weeks later (total of 9 weeks of production time), I was told the suit was ready for pick up. After going in to pick up the suit, the suit was not made to my specifications with multiple discrepancies based on what I remember discussing at the initial design. I was also told the detail sheet we worked on was now proprietary information that I was not allowed to see anymore, so I had no way to show it was what we discussed. No solution was reached to remediate these discrepancies, and left with no suit and out the down payment. I will say the suit was a nice suit, but I was paying good money for a Custom suit to my specifications, not just a nice suit.

To differentiate between the two locations they are calling the downtown Annapolis store The Cottage on Main and the Severna Park store The Cottage in The Park. The inventory between the two stores seems very similar. I can almost always find something to buy at this great local, small business. Here are some of my most recent finds: - Avanti greeting cards often featuring funny animals. They are the best! - Keva leather jewelry. It's light and so comfortable to wear. - Farmhouse Fresh lotions and soaps. Great quality and not overbearing scents. - Hobo purses and wallets. Awesome colors, practical designs and yummy leather. - A variety of thoughtful and sweet baby gifts. Lots of pretty prints. - Boho bandeaus. I really like these for working out in the yard. - Rifle Paper Co. stemless drinking glasses. Seems great for anything. - Although not personally a favorite of mine, popular brands like Vera Bradley, Kendra Scott and Swig. Since this location is in downtown Annapolis parking is a consideratoin. On an early weekday morning you might be able to grab a metered spot our front. The Noah Hillman Parking Garage is nearby too. The best vibes came when I talk to Tom. I enjoyed learning something about the first kilt I ever owned. I learned I could aquire buckle extenders for my kilt that no longer fits me. Yes, married men tend to get a little pudgy as they get older. I am doing my best to control this tread so belly and butt don't get out of control. Back on track, I talked to Tom about acquiring a utility kilt or cargo kilt. Something I thought would be very beneficial when acquiring my first traditional kilt. My first kilt is made out of wool and is for everyday use. My second kilt is for formal dining or settings. Both of these kilts need Sporran to hold your personal belongings. Now for those of you who don't know about Sporrans, they can be very basic to very fancy. All of them if not properly secured can back and attack your manhood. This goes doubly so for guys that go True Scotsman way. Some women who have worn a Sporran might have experienced this Nunchaku like experience. If I lost you, I will explain "The nunchaku is a traditional Okinawan martial arts weapon consisting of two sticks, connected to each other at their ends by a short metal chain or a rope. It takes lots of practice and respect to use this weapon. The moment you do don't show respect for this weapon, you will be smacked by the very weapon you were holding. The True Scotsman way is very liberating I might say, but there are others who find it "Childish and Unhygienic." I once wore my kilt after the Scottish Games to nail salon. The lady or ladies working on me or near me had this smile on their faces. The woman giving me the pedicure obversly knew what she was doing to get a better view. I am digressing again... Tom informed me this shop tried selling the cargo kilts, but they were not big sellers at the time. The fact that cargo kilts generally are not traditional kilts and don't tend to be clan affiliated, I can see why the cargo kilts didn't sell well. Nevertheless, my next and only kilt will be a cargo style kilt. It will either be all black, heather grey or two tone of black and purple. Tom told me of a fragrance they sold (name escapes me right now) and it smells delightful. It comes in a big bottle, which you should not try to take through the airport or it will be confiscated 99% of the time. I think my wife and I will be acquiring a bottle or two the next time we are in town. I liked the Guinness Jerseys did not feel compelled to by one for nearly 100 dollars. I might have if I hadn't already bought a sweater at another store. My wife and I enjoyed our time at this store and look forward to coming back here again. Tom made this experience here well worth it.
