Only thing I wish would change is having classes stacked. For example, for 3 classes, it's spread across 3 days. I wish they put two classes on one day to make work life easier. In the end, we have to pay for the school and have to work. If that could be fixed, it would be perfect for me. Love you Sumner!!

Go to Concord! Seriously, Sumner's PN program is a bag of jokes. The leadership has apparently been…read moredysfuntional for years and doesn't seem to care as long as the money keeps rolling in. Feedback from students is essentially ignored by leadership. Their nursing department head is located out of state and the lack of department oversight is obviously contributing to the failure of leadership. They have no clue how to make accommodations for students with disabilites. Their practicum placement is terrible. It is week 5 and one of my fellow students finally got her practicum placment that was supposed to start on week one. More than a handful of us had to wait until week 2 for our practicum placements, mind you we have an hours goal that we have to meet with less time than our peers. Their labs and facilities are so out of date. Broken mannekins, limited disposable supplies, and teachers who don't teach! The nursing course work is also terrible. Instructors can't adjust curriculumn and the curriculumn hasn't been updated in at least a decade it seems. Had some really terrific teachers but they don't stick around because of the dysfunction and it seems like its getting a reputation which is why places are refusing students for practicum. They no longer do full onsite clinicals, instead they use a program called vSim, but they don't use it as it was designed so it is also pretty bad. There is NO communication from department heads regarding changes they are implementing, such as grading system changes or moving to online instruction or not doing 8 weeks of in person clinicals and doing online simulations instead. If you have to spend this much money, spend it where you will get a quality education with quality labs and good clinical and practicum placements and not at Sumner.
