At one point we were coming here all the time but then we started to noticed a little weight gain from all the sugar. That being said Caribou sells an amazing product that taste delicious and is a great treat for every now and then, at least for my wife and I. I ordered the hot Caramel High Rise and my wife ordered a iced Turtle Mocha. Both of which were great! At the time we had our German Shepherd, "Shepherd", with us, and the clerk gave her a dog treat which was so nice. It's a very nice and welcoming place. Our kids certainly don't mind either because every now and then we will treat them to a hot chocolate or hot apple cider beverage. With great service and a delicious product, it's no wonder we like coming here. Hope you all enjoyed my review. You know when you're on the bus surrounded by people who smell like vegetable soup and stale beer?…read more And then, this one guy gets on, and you can tell he's not from here. He's got to be European or something, judging by his strange shoes and the way he carries that stylish man purse with confidence. And you're intrigued. How did this man get here... on a dirty city bus with all of these people, who are clearly not as worldly and dashing as he is? That's what the Natural Harvest Food Co-op is like. Now, don't get me wrong. I don't think Virginia, MN, is the equivalent of a dirty, stinky bus. There are hard working, genuine, honest people there. The thing is, they eat at McDonald's and consider "organic" to mean that the chemicals used weren't disallowed by the FDA until the 1990s. Natural Harvest Food Co-op just doesn't fit the profile is what I'm saying here. And, yet. There it is. A natural food co-op in the middle of a small heartland town. It's an anomaly I was glad to find when my family went looking for organic milk and healthy snacks while camping nearby. Five stars for the vast array of choices, the friendly staff, and the fact that it blew my flippin' mind to find it there.

My wife (a former townie) was enamored, and we returned twice more during our trip (though they were closed on Sunday morning), to the detriment of Caribou and Starbucks. Lattes were very nice -- though we requested extra hot on our second visit -- and served in an appropriately sized china cup when requested. Our breakfast selections were consistently yummy, unique and filling (though a bit pricey). On the other hand, the two baked goods I tried were dry and not very good at all, which cost them a half-star. The interior was pleasant, not overly crowded nor too loud. We spent almost an hour each morning visit to chat, catch up on the news, and play our games. I'm taking off another half-star given the demeanor of the wait staff...certainly not surly or impolite, but just did not appear to be that interested in working there. All in all, we'll be back the next time we visit.
