It is one of the first espresso bars in Utrecht combining the possibility of drinking coffee with shopping. Blackbird uses Koffieslab beans which are nice but sometimes have a sour note (don't kill the messenger, it's a personal preference). Apart from coffee Blackbird has a small menu with breakfast, dessert and refreshing drinks options. Baked goodies are made from biological products and are quite ok, but unfortunately very inconsistent and definitely not the best in town. I usually get a red card which I think is about 25,50 euros for thirty credits. Small coffee is 3, medium is 4 and large is 5 which you can then customise to your hearts desire; extra shots, different kind of milk, it all falls under the same amount of credits, so really much cheaper if your an extra this kind of person or can't have cow's milk. Now this bit is true for all coffee companies, which makes them greatly convenient wherever you're visiting. My husband uses his card in Den Haag in front of his office building and I use mine here or on the Nachtegaalstraat because why would you waste your time on shitty office coffee? So back to this coffee company. They have a good amount of comfy chairs and couches to sit and relax and a nice large table where you'll mostly find the working crowd. I enjoy both options and it's always nice to have a decent loo nearby when working and drinking coffee. p.s. the red velvet cake and turtle brownies really don't hurt either..

I've been meaning to visit, but the hours made it tough to plan a visit. I wish they would stay open a bit later on the week - I would come to work here. Nice, fresh interior. Good coffee prepared multiple ways. What more can you ask for?
