Overall a good place however there is a team member female who is very very very loud. She is constantly talking to everyone and is mostly walking around restaurant not really helping at the counter where they can use help during busy hours. Not a great location as the staff allows 90% of the homeless population to loiter inside and then when you come through the doors your nostrils are permeated with the stench of violent body odor and pee and you're eyeball assaulted the entire time you try and quietly eat your lunch in peace. Also half the time I order ahead on the app, they're out of what I ordered. While waiting to get my car worked on I Ubered to this starbucks to work on some things and read. I ordered a latte and bought a cup. After sitting there for 2 hours and drinking coffee I naturally had to use the restroom. I asked one woman working what the code was for the PUBLIC bathroom and she rolled her eyes and proceeded to tell me faster than i could process and walked away. Another customer tried to give me a code they used the day prior. It didn't work. I asked another employee and she said "sorry we aren't giving out the code today". I like the outside seating option and the their location was conveniently close to all the hotels nearby downtown and all the attractions , visited here multiple times and it didn't disappoint! Bottom Line: A fairly typical Starbucks in downtown Sarasota with indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, this Starbucks seems like a pretty typical Starbucks. They offer coffee, tea, pastries, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, etc. They also have Starbucks merchandise like coffee mugs. My go-to is a Pike Place brewed/drop coffee but I've now also fallen in love with the dipped sugar cookies. So good! Aside from having seating inside they also have a nice patio. I like that the patio area is fenced in and only accessible from inside the store. It helps reserve the space for Starbucks patrons. The employees are friendly but being located in downtown Sarasota I can see where parking would be tough. read more

A good break The streets were quiet this morning as I made my way around Sarasota, eventually ending up at this Starbucks. Image my surprise when I walked into a room full of people and a line several people deep. I was looking forward to splurging on a Frappuccino so there was no internal debate about not waiting. Turned out they had 2 registers going and the line moved along nicely. In much less than 10 minutes I had my Mocha Frappuccino in hand. They have a small seating area outside, facing the Sarasota Library and Five Points Park. That's where I headed and there was an unoccupied metal table. For the next few minutes I relaxed and enjoyed my drink. My Mocha Frappuccino was delicious, chocolaty and quite cold. My interactions with the Starbucks staff were fine. The person at the register, once he got my name, referred to me by name and was pleasant and efficient. The person who dropped my drink off at the pickup spot did not refer to me by name and just called out the drink. The small crowd that had been waiting for drinks had dispersed and there were just a couple of us left, so there was no confusion. It was a good break, and I headed back out. read more

Alright, so I am absolutely on the Starbucks bandwagon. I appreciate that all of them are basically identical, the convenience of the online app and loyalty card have me hooked, and there is always a Starbucks wherever I travel. My go to drink is the chai latte with peppermint. My go to food is the spinach feta wrap. This particular location suffers from two issues that keep it from 5 stars. First, they have very little actual seating. There is an awkward, long skinny table with high chairs on either side-but if you sit there you will knock knees with anyone sitting on the opposite side, plus it is the table that you must walk around to get in line-leading to a constant stream of people passing you. Then there are two 2 seat tables, and a 4 chair table that is designated handicap accessible. The 4 chair is the only one that has a nearby outlet, so if you want to actually work on your computer, you have to be the douche-nozzle sitting at the big table, encouraging other people to sit with you with eye contact so they don't silently curse you for sitting at the largest table available. Second, there is a steady stream of homeless that drift in to use the restroom, or talk...to....no one...or at you. They tend to stay outside and congregate around the gate, but every so often they will come inside. Now, most are actually very nice and keep to themselves, but a few scream, shout, and unload the entire contents of their bags onto the floor. It's a little unsettling. I avoid coming to this Starbucks at all costs. Reason 1: Parking. Good luck finding a spot! Be prepared to circle more than a few times unless you happen to get very lucky and find someone leaving. Reason 2: I'm an open minded person, but the amount of bums that are hanging out outside, laying on the ground by the front door, using the electrical outlets, and letting their pets inside is unbelievable. Keep in mind that they are not purchasing anything, they're just there loitering. Reason 3: Don't bother using the mobile app because they never get your order. I've never had an issue with any Starbucks not receiving my order EXCEPT for this one. I've stood there and waited for 15+ minutes and my drink never comes out because they "don't have record of my order." To flag down a staff member to ask is pointless as well because they don't even bother to pay attention to you. Reason 4: Slow. Line is always out the door. Visit any of the other Starbucks in the area for a better experience...trust me. read more

So I started coming to the downtown location almost everyday for the last 3 weeks. My coworkers got me hooked on the lavender cream matcha. Yesterday when I came in one of the girls told me that if I wanted it to go in a carrier and bag that I could tell the cashier that I wanted it to go and to put it in the delivery bag. Which was perfect, the reason that I need it that way is because I ride my e-bike over here and I need it packed that way to travel to work. So today when I came in I told the old dude at the counter that I wanted it in that bag and he said no. I proceeded to tell him what the girls working yesterday said and he comment was that the store manager said no. Well I'm a paying customer and my coworkers are very into Starbucks and I can promise you that we all will not be using this location again. This dude just wanted to have the lady say. The ONLY thing this location has going for it is just that, the location. I have yet, in the year and a half I've been working within walking distance, to get a correct order. Today I ordered a pumpkin cold brew with no ice ($4.45). Instead, I got a pumpkin iced coffee... with LOTS of ice and LOTS of milk ($3.45). Of course, I was charged for the more expensive item. I ordered a bagel. No bagels. So I said fine, I'm strapped for time, I'll take a pumpkin muffin as is. They threw it in the bag and I was on my way back to work. I got to work and discovered I had gotten a blueberry muffin. I hate blueberry muffins. I ended up giving my breakfast away to someone at work. I ordered ahead, but I still had to wait in line. For the first time EVER I was offered a gift card for my troubles. For $4. This doesn't cover half of the cost I lost through getting incorrect items and this is a recurring issue. Typically, my experience includes ordering ahead via mobile, going to pick up my items, and finding that no one is paying attention to the incoming food item orders. My drink is there, but no food. Then I have to wait. Sometimes I've waited for a certain sandwich, someone in line orders the last one (which I ordered 15 minutes prior) and I have to figure something out at the last second... after waiting in line AGAIN. This is especially difficult when I order the only vegetarian option and have to pull the meat off of whatever sandwich I have to settle for. I've consistently had the wrong milk in my coffee (I can definitely tell the difference between almond and whole, especially when I'm violently ill afterward) and have had staff ignore me when I try to point out that my order is wrong. Then I get in line, wait through my entire break, and am finally told that I can wait for a new item, get a gift card (which takes forever) or just deal with it. I've heard people complain that their drinks are taking too long to make so they just take the mobile orders that are waiting to be picked up. Which then forces the person who ordered ahead to come in, notice that their drink isn't there... wait... try to ask if they got the order, get ignored, wait some more.... finally re-enter line, get told that the order was made and someone took it. Depending on the item, get charged for ANOTHER one... wait some more... now you've spent $10 on a coffee and have wasted 20+minutes. This is a PRIME location and should be staffed as such. It is the only bastion for many people who work downtown and don't have time to get all the way to Kahwa and back. I wish Kahwa did order ahead. They make a great cup of coffee and a nice sandwich. But each person that worked there seemed so sad and depressed to be there. Nobody was helpful or happy. They also possessed little knowledge of their product. It was the most depressing Starbucks I've gone to. On the plus side, it's in a beautiful area with very nice customers. I am not a coffee drinker, but my husband purchased a Java Chip Frappuccino. I tried it as knew there was chocolate in it. Unfortunately for him, I liked it. It may now become a shared drink in the coming warmer months. We will try to remember to ask for either the light version or ask for it to be made with non-fat milk as it is a very high fat drink. A very consistent location. Consistently friendly, consistently slow, consistently get panhandled for money by the homeless. I've never felt unsafe, but each time I've been here I haven't been able to keep to myself and read without getting someone begging for money... and they linger. Orders don't come out together (at least the one time I ordered food with my drink), so when I ordered a muffin, sandwich, and a water, I finished my muffin and was halfway through my sandwich before I got my tap water. And I wasn't eating quickly. There was one employee making the drinks who was being a bit too friendly chatting with customers. Starbucks could've trained me how to make the drinks quicker than he was pumping them out. When in the area (in my car) I'll be making the effort to drive to a different Starbucks. I would only recommend stopping in if you are on foot in the area and have plenty of time. Don't use the outdoor patio, that's where the homeless beg. read more

As much as I love Starbucks coffee, it is never lost on me how much a cup of "Get up and Go" costs. When I go into one these legalized, addicting drug stops I know full well that I will be paying an arm and a leg to get that high. At some point though, I draw the line. When an establishment that already charges premium prices makes policy that "nickels and dimes" its customers there will be fallout. I've tried ordering ahead, waiting in line, going in when there's NO line and ordering, and it takes 20 mins to get a drink no matter what. As it has become clear from my other Starbucks reviews, I don't drink coffee and therefore I save money at Starbucks* and I only go there for its wireless capabilities when I am away from home. This particular Starbucks suffers from many things although the service is usually acceptable enough. The first problem is the indoor seating. There are only two tables with more than 2 seats (1 of those is earmarked for handicapped access) and since they chose to have at least four armchairs taking up space, it further limits the seating area in terms of overall capacity and efficiency. On the other hand, there is ample outdoor seating which is quite nice when it is not extremely hot outside. The issue with the outdoor seating however is that many people choose to go out there so they can smoke while they inhale their other addictive substance simultaneously and this makes for a disgusting seating area if you are not into the inhalation of noxious fumes from other people's cigarettes. The second issue with this Starbucks has nothing to do with the company, but the location. I am not against people who have found themselves homeless at all, but this is not a commentary on the United States' issue of homelessness, it is a review of this Starbucks. With that said, this Starbucks is in the corner of an area of Sarasota that has always been home to several homeless men and women during the day. The honest truth is that some people can find this to be an uncomfortable situation as they often use the bathrooms and sit in the outside area. The service here is friendly and usually efficient, however, lines can form pretty quickly at this location. As Starbucks go, this one is lacking due to its layout and location, but it still serves its intended purpose. ______________ * At least I think I do because a Venti iced green tea is only like 3 bucks and I believe similar coffees in the ginormous size are like $16.50 or something like that. read more

Went to this Starbucks after an event in Sarasota because it was going to be a long way back home and I needed some energy before heading out. I have to say the location was really pretty, it was in the corner of the street and it had tables and chairs set up outside. When the weather is perfect I can't imagine not sitting outside and relaxing, reading, having a meeting or whatever while having a nice cup of coffee. The baristas were really friendly and quick to service you. My order was done right and made in a timely manner, so I can't complain. This is a really good Starbucks! read more

First and only time visit, so take that into account. My wife wanted some supercharged variation on chocolate milk, which is kinda what they do. Expressly said she did not want chocolate drizzled on the whipped cream. That was the only instruction. So what does the server do? The opposite. Seems an ear cleaning is in order. So she did it again and got it right. Bravo. Maybe they charge so much because they waste so many orders. Didn't catch the name of the server, but a card I picked up on site had the name Habib Massari, district manager. Seems he needs to better manage the front line staff.
