I've been a loyal Starbucks customer since middle school. I love starting my day with a coffee before work, grabbing one before road trips, or stopping by during errands. But the Otay Mesa Starbucks continues to disappoint me, time and time again -- to the point where I feel the need to write this review in hopes that someone in management takes action. This isn't about a single bad experience. This is about a pattern of consistent mistakes and poor customer service that I've put up with for far too long. Nearly every time I go to this location -- whether through the drive-thru or via mobile order -- something is wrong. I'm constantly receiving the wrong drink, missing items, or food that isn't mine. I've even been handed entire orders that weren't mine at all. What's worse is that I've actually had to leave work on multiple occasions just to go back and get my order corrected. And I only do that because I work 12 to 14-hour shifts, and on long days like those, I just want to enjoy my morning coffee -- the one I paid for and expected to be made correctly the first time. Some might say it's not a big deal, but when you're dealing with this every week, it becomes a huge inconvenience. I shouldn't have to waste time and energy fixing a mistake I didn't make, especially not during a workday. To make matters worse, the customer service is equally frustrating. There's a tall Hispanic man with a beard who regularly works the drive-thru window. He rarely greets me, almost never smiles, and speaks in a tone that feels dismissive or annoyed. On one occasion, he scanned my phone aggressively fast and when I said I wanted to use my rewards stars, he said, "You should've told me sooner, I already scanned it," as if I was the problem. No apology, no effort to fix it. Another time, he got my drink wrong again and still charged me for an extra add-on I didn't even ask for. By the time I realized, I was already at work -- and again, couldn't leave to go fix their mistake. I keep going back to this location only because it's close to work, and unfortunately, there's no Dunkin' nearby. But I'm honestly at a breaking point. Being treated like an inconvenience when I'm a paying, loyal customer is unacceptable. Starbucks is a brand built on consistency, quality, and a good customer experience -- and this location is falling short on all three. To the management: Please take this seriously. Your team needs better training, more accountability, and a reminder that customer service actually matters. This store has potential, but right now, it's leaving a very bad taste in people's mouths -- and I don't just mean the coffee. read more

Two stars for effort, but this Starbucks was so extremely dirty the restroom I don't even wanna talk about it. The whole floor is disgusting. We did get attended by Melly at the register and she was very sweet though. read more

This Starbucks could really benefit from a consultant or training focused on improving customer service. Please consider hiring staff who are skilled in customer service everyone here seems more like they're just hanging out with friends rather than focusing on their work. read more

4/13/2025 around 2:50pm. I HD a restroom emergency and cashier refused to give me the restroom code until my party placed the order. I pleaded with her and told her it was an emergency she said she would be disciplined harshly if she didn't follow strict orders she held to the restroom code like if it was her lifeline until the very end. When she finally gave the code to my daughter because for some reason she didn't want to address me, maybe because I talked to her in Spanish and she was answering in English I asked here if she didn't speak Spanish and she said she did but for some reason she was choosing not to use it that day. This is by far one of the most disappointing Starbucks locations I've ever visited. It's situated near an international border and is constantly overwhelmed with people -- long lines, chaotic atmosphere, and a complete lack of cleanliness or customer support. Let's start with the most basic issue: the restrooms are always out of order. Not occasionally, every single time I've stopped here, the restrooms have been unavailable. For a location that serves hundreds (if not thousands) of travelers every day, that's just not acceptable. People stop here on long trips, expecting a clean and functional space, and they're met with a locked door and a flimsy "out of service" sign. Then there's the dirty, sticky tables and overflowing trash bins. It's clear the staff can't keep up with the traffic or simply aren't trying. I had to wipe down my own table with napkins just to sit down. Not exactly the relaxing coffee break Starbucks advertises. To make things worse, I attempted to leave feedback directly through the Starbucks website, but it was completely unresponsive and no way to submit a review or contact the store directly. That's what brought me to Yelp. If Starbucks won't listen through their own channels, maybe they'll pay attention here. Good, friendly service. I got my drink pretty fast within 5 minutes, as there wasn't much of a crowd. It's more spacious that most starbucks, although there's only one co-ed bathroom stall. I got the vanilla bean frappachino which was pretty good. read more

This Starbucks location has by far been the most consistent at screwing up all the drinks I've ever ordered. There hasn't been even one instance where the drink was actually made right. The workers definitely need some help or re-training of some sort because none of them know how to make any of the drinks! Please send someone to help them out! read more

I was waiting in line when I saw 2 workers called Oscar and Sebastian(I got their names) complaining and yelling at other staff and cussing out customers. Once I get to the front they take my order with attitude and they got it wrong. I go to talk to a supervisor called Suly, who was incredibly useless and did not help in any way. I finally decided to ask for a manager seeing as no one is helping me with my order and everyone here has horrible attitudes. A lady called Marilyn comes to help but once again she is of no use. This is honestly the worst Starbucks in SD. I've come here multiple times thinking that maybe they've just had an off day... every day must be an off day. A few months ago I came by and ordered a cake pop and it had a gross purple jelly and a seed on it. When I let the workers there know they said that was "normal"??? Normal?? For a cookies and cream cake pop to have jelly and a seed on it? Gross! Then today I came by for a tea and the first sip I take is full of the stuff inside the tea bag. I take it out of the cup and see that the tea bag was sliced along the seam. I find it hard to believe that they didn't know when putting the bag inside the water. Service was Awful !! The store on Google maps and maps say's it closes 10 pm, it does not specify if pickup indoor is closed even though the app let's you do a indoor pickup. My only option was to order through drive-through i did so, my order was supposed to be done by 9:10 and instead had to pick it up 30 min later, i asked for a refund since the wait time was longer than expected both supervisor and barista had an attitude and didn't seem to give me a refund, i ended up getting my order later on, i do not recommend this place !! I came in here a blended strawberry açaí lemonade. I've NEVER had an issue ordering this at any Starbucks. When I placed the order as usual, the cashier never said anything about it. Once I received the order this is what I got and when I told the guy I asked for it blended he said they don't do that at that location. My friend and I went to this Starbucks location around 7:45pm and the doors were already locked. We we're shocked because we checked the time before heading there and it said that this location closes at 9pm, We tried opening the doors but right when we we're heading to the other door an employee ran to the straight to the other entrance and locked it so we couldn't get in. I am angry and disappointed because she saw us coming and ran to the door, and locked it as quick as she can. Instead she should've just said " sorry we're closing up and we're no longer taking any orders ". I am No long coming to this location every again and especially when their supposed to close AT 9 but cleaning up an hour early and locking the doors also AN HOUR EARLY like I said NEVER coming here again. read more

I saw all the line being taken care off and my coffe still wasn't made. Women's hair in my iced venti chai tea latte. I go here every day at least once since it's right next to me work and most of the time it's good. Although today I have to pour out half of my drink because of hair in the middle. The lid has a very small opening and my hair is super short so I know it wasn't mine. I come here because it's convenient and close to work, but after giving it so many tries I have given up. I like to place and order online to avoid long wait times but even while ordering online I always wait 20+ minutes for a single drink. I do not recommend it at all. Workers are slow and look lost. Customer service is very very bad at this location, I came here with my mom to order coffee and the cashier (Viviana) was very rude when we got there she didn't even approach us we just ordered our coffee and when we asked the girl if she can show us the sizes of the drinks she was in a attitude to show us the cup sizes to see which one we'd like. Website says it closes at 9pm and we arrived 1hr before closing time. The drive thru was blocked by a semi-truck so we tried entering the actual building but the doors were locked on one side of the building. One of the employees noticed us outside and ran to the other set of the doors to lock them. Very rude and unprofessional as they could have told us that they were closed instead of going through that trouble to sprint to the other doors. read more

This Stabucks Location is very convenient for me since I cross every day to work from Tijuana. Nevertheless it is the first time they use Regular cow's milk instead of soy Milk, from first glance you can never tell what kind of milk it is but My body does recognize the diferente since I'm lactose intolerant and regular cows milk makes me sick.
