It's a tiny Churrería, with only a couple of tables and the bar. It's not a tourist place, it doesn't have a shiny sign above the door, and all the customers are people from the neighborhood. Everybody knows each other so the place has a warm and personal feeling. The chocolate is thick and delicious as Spanish chocolate should be, and the churros are the best I've tried in Salamanca so far. The only problem is that the opening hours are short. You may not know that Churros are for breakfast in Spain, but it's true, so it opens really early in the morning (not sure about the time), but closes at 11.30am!! Get up early and start your day here like a real Spanish person!

They have that here too, but sometimes what a girl needs while traveling is a good latte. Although the clientele seems almost exclusively Spanish, travelers from North America will find some familiar offerings here. Between the cappuccinos, fruit juices, bagels and wraps, and donuts, I could easily stay here all day. The vibe is cute and young and the primary barista (saw him several days in a row) was very tolerant of my horrible attempts at Spanish. Check out the cute mural on the street too!

The postal was interesting but needed something more to stand out. The calamari was off, like they weren't really calamaris and were some type of mcnugget version of calamaris. They lacked that snap of the skin when you bite into a calamari and the texture wasn't what you expect of a normal calamari. Looking at the inside looked processed. Fortunately our waiter noticed our two of our plates had a lot left on them and asked us why. He took the calamaris off the the bill and I appreciated that. That gesture alone brought this rating to a 3.

I'm going to make this at home! With hunks of fluffy bread and wonderful Portuguese olive oil. Great spot to people watch and rest your tired tootsies!
