I quite like to sit in Starbucks working from time to time. This branch has a nice view from the top floor, looking out over the fountain at Plaza de España, comfy chairs and plenty of table space. Starbucks seems a little expensive in Spain compared to the US, but that's just how things are. What causes me to give this one a bad rating, though, is the problem with petty crime. Whilst I was sat there with my stuff on the table in front of me a young girl, no more than 10 years old, walks up and starts begging for me to buy her something to drink. She waves a menu in front of me, then turns to walk away. As if by magic, there is now an iPhone sized gap on the table. Thankfully I was able to grab here and retrieve my phone before she got out the door. But chatting to locals later I came to know that Starbucks has a bad reputation of this problem, with several friends not being so lucky. read more
