You'll see a large parking lot and start to ask yourself what all this church stuff has to do with coffee. Or, for that matter, all the sports and activity resources. Well, they don't. Serenity is a coffee-getting SPACE inside a SPACE that offers all kinds of other things within its SPACE, like a game room, among others. Calling it a "coffee shop" is going too far. But very convenient if you're craving caffeine and don't feel like driving out of your way to reach Ugly Mug or deal with the maddening weekend conditions at Cultivate. (Speaking of which, they use Cultivate beans here. So that's a win.) It's charmless, tucked inside an echo-laden, hall of many shades of gray and not a window in sight. Huge and accommodating, with work tables rocking multiple outlets per person (!), there are good things to say, for sure. Like the barista with the kind demeanor. The churchy feel is pretty overwhelming. If you're not into that or have a problem with it, think again? Idk, it's obvious that the coffee aspect rings as an afterthought, what with everything else going on. If you're looking for a coffee house situation, you won't find it here. But if you want an uber-quiet, enormously spacious, wholly uninteresting place to work, give Serenity Brews a shot. Fair warning, though - the wifi is paltry, so don't bring any demanding work.

Unfortunately the atmosphere was a bit overshadowed by being overcrowded and several kids running around. The atmosphere inside the coffee shop feels like a modern vibe but nestled within a small town. I ordered a strawberry glazed donut and a vanilla latte. I wasn't the biggest fan of the donut as it didn't taste the freshest and the espresso shots weren't pulled correctly as the latte tasted a bit watery/thin. This coffee shop is crowded as it's really the only option in Fuqua-Varina but may try it again if I'm in the area again.

They used to have a manager there who made baconated bourbon, he rendered bacon fat into it somehow, and they had this bacon whiskey cocktail and it was amazing. It was the best thing on the menu and almost always sold out. I was told that manager left along with the secret of the bacon whiskey so we're likely to not see it again. Bartenders could use some customer service training. They don't greet you. They don't acknowledge that they see you waiting. They pretty much ignore you until they have time for you which is behavior I don't really like. They seem to have more of an attitude of "I'll get to you when I can on my terms and then you'll tip me $2/drink because I'm an awesome cocktail lounge bartender and entitled to tips." Just looking at someone and saying, "I'll be with you in a moment" goes a really long way. I gave this establishment 4 stars but please understand I'm rating in regards to Fuquay...anywhere else this would be about 3 stars.

This past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings I performed my usual routine of stopping by Starbucks in Fuquay-Varina. Each day I was greeted at the drive thu by an arm extended out of the window, which I assumed was a gesture for payment. The employees enjoyed conversations amongst themselves rather than interacting with their customers. Each item was handed to me while the employee looked in the opposite direction. To wrap up my unpleasant experiences (with one last chance at redemption) the window was either closed in my face, or the employee resumed their conversation with the next customer, or fellow employee. Three strikes and you're out! The personal atmosphere, and over friendly employees (who write my name on my coffee cup =) are what has kept me paying exorbitant amounts of money over the past 10+ years. Take this away and I'd rather pay $1 for a cup of java and a smile at any fast food restaurant. Well, I'm off to post the same on Facebook, Twitter, and email the corporate Starbucks office! Poor staff the have VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS.... I ORDER my drink when it was ready it wasnt what i asked for or paid for so i asked if they could fix it. the girl gave me a BIG problem. then she turned to tell who ever made it and he said " OH WELL!" seriously i spend $6 on ever cup you should make it rite.. poor staff the managers a kid so he dont even know how to fix and problems his self i will be taking my money else where and i use to go to starbucks everyday!!!! read more

Eek. Methinks not. Why drink Starbucks when you have The Mill and the Drive Bru. Starbucks is overrated, overpriced bathwater with nothing but the logo and preppy white girls to keep their company alive. Seriously. Maps included the "Coffee Shops" icon for a reason. If i am going to spend 5$ on a coffee it better be bigger than a grande. read more
