With a little time before Third Eye Comics opens its doors, my wife sends me to Starbucks for the following: 1 or 2 Venti Hot Mint Majesty Herbal Teas and 3 rolled and steel-cut oatmeals for the week: add blueberries and nut medley; add a splash of skim milk; and add honey blend. Regardless of what I order, there is an expectation and a rapport, a call and a response, that happens whenever, and with whomever, I place my order. Each time, I give my real name (SCOTT!) rather than an alias or a nom-de-plume, knowing that the soon-to-be-perfect transaction will be cordial and without drama. But what if, instead of falling in New York City, the meteors that turned out to be ships holding terrifying aliens, bent on using echolocation to find and consume humans, fell at the College Park Marketplace Shopping Center instead? Would the service of this particular Starbucks remain excellent and the lattes and the Herbal Mint Majesty teas still be served steaming hot? Would they take orders during claps of thunder, downpours of rain, and howling winds? I'd like to think that if any Starbucks could navigate the rules of A Quiet Place and still provide unparalleled service to spouses of soon-to-be-contented customers, it would be this one. read more

This Starbucks is always jumping! Located in a busy shopping center where Shoppers Food Warehouse is located on Cherry Hill Rd in College Park. I typically hit the drive through which is a little tricky because you're forced to circle the back of the building which is also a couple of lanes for a bank maybe ATM service, once you receive your order. I feel so welcome here by the workers. 5 stars for how well they treat neurodivergent folks. Service at this location is the worst I've ever experienced at Starbucks. Minutes before anyone even acknowledged me to take my order. Extensive wait for 1 hot and 1 cold beverage. Wait was at least 15 minutes for the cold drink such that I apologized, indicated I need to go, and requested a refund. The barista said, "I'll just fix it." Handed me my drink and never made eye contact or acknowledged me or the delay after I said thank you twice to her. This location has a drive thru. Exceptional customer service is why we Yelp right? Then this location deserves all the praise for amazing customer service! You see, this SBUX is one of the only ones in the area open late(r) than most, so I used the app to order a White Chocolate Mocha Latte from here around 9:15 PM on a Sunday. Imagine my horror when I arrived close to closing time and the baristas told me that they didn't have my order - though I had already paid in the app. It wasn't until I doubled checked the app and noticed I had put in my order to another SBUX in College Park - and not the one where I was standing. To add insult to injury, that location was closed. The lady serving on Memorial Day 2024 at about 9:20 pm. Slim light skin girl. She had no sense of hospitality. Realising I'd been given coffee instead of hot chocolate, I can back along to the drive through window. She claims she didn't really hear my order. And so that's why she gave me whatever came to her mind. She didn't apologize for not confirming at the window when I came for pickup. She then replaces it with hot chocolate. I tell her thanks and she simply shuts the window without a word. That's not the kind of service that takes me ever to a Starbucks. I go to Starbucks because I expect the Starbucks tribe hospitality. Very poor service this morning. I stood by the register to place my order. A young lady behind the counter was cleaning her headphones. Hovering in the space between the drive through and the cold case. She looked over saw me, didn't interact. Look my again and again nothing. Looked at the young lady who I presume was supposed to be on register but she was washing containers in the sink directly behind the register. The first one proceeded to continue cleaning her headphones. The young lady who was washing containers in the sink asked her to take my order because she was busy. The first one walks over looking bothered takes my order. I wait for the order, it is placed in the counter and no one says anything not a name, a beverage type nothing. Mind I was never asked for my name... I understand each Starbucks location is different, however I think there should be some consistency with hot waters are dispersed to patrons once they are ready. Ordered 2 drinks on the app one of which was a matcha green tea Frappuccino. I don't know what I got, but it was not the drink I ordered. I proceeded to go back inside and no one was at the cash registers. I had to wait several minutes before being served. The person who greeted me was not very customer service friendly at all. While I waited on my drink I went to the rest room. It was absolutely filthy!!! If I can figure out how to post a picture I will. Most of the time, the line of cars stops people from entering the side of the parking lot where the Starbucks is... but they do move quickly; and they usually have more than enough staff on hand. Five stars for genuine care and the most amazing costumer service in the Metropolitan Area. I needed to spare some time so I figured to go to Starbucks because I love their coffee and rewards program. I never thought I would get the most caring costumer service. I asked for a Venti Caramel Latte. The barista prompt some questions to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted and told me what he was giving me. He nailed it! I ended up spending more time there than I originally thought so I ended up ordering a venti tea. Barista took his time to explain me the different teas and caffeine levels, also when I requested hot water and not boiling he had no problem making sure it was exactly how I wanted. This is a great drive thru location, where the line usually moves pretty fast and the drinks are always made perfectly to your specifications. This location also stays open to 10pm most nights, which is later than most other locations in the DMV area. Upon standing in line, I notice the employees chillaxing, singing, and hanging out while making drinks for the drive-thru customers... to each their own....as long as they get their job done.... not very professional in my book... As compared to other Starbucks clones, this one has more tables and outlets to charge your device than most. That plus its proximity to U of MD are probably why it's usually pretty full. They do pretty well matching staffing to demand, so even with the drive thru there is seldom a long wait. Why 3 vs 4 stars? The WiFi didn't connect until I opened my browser and watched a short sponsor video - or rather set my phone down and had a sip of my venti latte until it was done. This is what I would describe as your average Starbucks. It's always busy, the staff is decently nice, and it's clean enough. For such a strange location for Starbucks I actually couldn't believe how busy it was. I did love the inside of this location they had lots of room for people to sit and people to work if needed. The bathrooms were pretty dirty but it's hard to expect super clean bathrooms all the time. It's a shame that I still go to starbucks even though I work at a coffee shop that sells the best coffee in the DC metro area. I mean, if Murky wasn't so far away, I'd go there to get my coffee fix. If you're looking for a Starbucks to sit inside and get your free wifi on, this is a great location. It is relatively large compared to others in the area. I frequent here especially when I work remotely because it is spacious and they have varying seating available. There are comfy chairs, small cafe tables, work tables with outlets and a standing work table. The service is usually really good other than a few mishaps, but it's pretty standard. Many of the staff seem to have pretty positive relationships with many of the regulars. They also have a drive-thru, which is a plus. read more
