I hit the one in the Summit shopping center, and on my way out of Amarillo back to Austin, I stopped at their original location in Canyon. What a cozy spot that it was. Summit and Wolflin feel so established with their black walls, tables, and decor while the Palace in Canyon has this timeless feeling. Inside, the walls have a floral wallpaper, the lighting feels classic, and the ceiling looks like it's been there for decades. I ordered a hot Bluebonnet at the suggestion of my girlfriend and took home a whole-bean bag of their Monarch blend to try at my home in Austin. There was a decent buzzing crowd in the main space with plenty of seating in the back room. There was a group of older gentlemen next to us enjoying their coffees together. What a life. The baristas here during the morning we went were all so friendly and conversational which seems to be the norm at all Palace locations. There's just a level of sweetness in the atmosphere I get at Palace that I don't feel like I get at most shops. Their merchandise is excellent (not valuable to the review, just thought I'd share) and it seems like they truly care about the entire coffee experience instead of hastily throwing out drinks. Palace really stands out as a top tier coffee shop in Texas. Every community needs a place like Palace, and Canyon y Amarillo definitely benefits from them. Brandon is a man who frequently takes his anger out on his employees. If Brandon had a bad night the night before, everyone in the store will be having a bad day the next morning. He verbally berates, screams at, and sends people home with no warning. He shows poor judgement when it comes to handling workplace harassment. My girlfriend has been an employee at the canyon braums for almost 3 years. She was always a favorite employee, one of their only full time (versus part time) employees, and has held multiple manager positions. She has experienced multiple instances of sexual harassment at work, not from Brandon, but from his other managers and staff. The most recent time, one of her managers, Katrina Bible, had been texting her explicit messages and then non consensually showed my girlfriend a nude photo of herself at work. When my girlfriend reported this, she had HER hours changed and was told by Brandon and corporate HR that nothing could be done because "since they were both women, they could not prove it was harassment". My girlfriend is 20 and her manager is in her 30s. To make things worse, when my girlfriend put in her two week notice as a response to this treatment, she was immediately fired. Brandon did not supply her with any documentation of this firing, she found out from fellow employees that she had been removed from the Braums system. The manager harassing her still works there and simply received a write up. If you care about the safety of women in the workplace, you would not support this company.
