(Driving from Houston, TX to Taos, NM for a week) Hubs is over here gushing about what a fantastic morning it's been, part because of the adventure of a new place and lower humidity, but also, this is a GREAT cup of coffee! Drive thru is hopping on a late Saturday morning, plenty of parking outside and seating inside. Ordered the usual (decaf flat white, heavy cream) and it came out HOT and quickly. That first sip is like heaven on earth. Hot. Creamy. Coffee forward. They've got the ratios just right and this is a splendid beverage. Friendly staff inside, wishing us a great day as we left - felt very genuine and kind. We'll bookmark this place for the return trip(s). A bit far to become regular customers here, but definitely worth the detour off I40 for a local spot!

I hit the one in the Summit shopping center, and on my way out of Amarillo back to Austin, I stopped at their original location in Canyon. What a cozy spot that it was. Summit and Wolflin feel so established with their black walls, tables, and decor while the Palace in Canyon has this timeless feeling. Inside, the walls have a floral wallpaper, the lighting feels classic, and the ceiling looks like it's been there for decades. I ordered a hot Bluebonnet at the suggestion of my girlfriend and took home a whole-bean bag of their Monarch blend to try at my home in Austin. There was a decent buzzing crowd in the main space with plenty of seating in the back room. There was a group of older gentlemen next to us enjoying their coffees together. What a life. The baristas here during the morning we went were all so friendly and conversational which seems to be the norm at all Palace locations. There's just a level of sweetness in the atmosphere I get at Palace that I don't feel like I get at most shops. Their merchandise is excellent (not valuable to the review, just thought I'd share) and it seems like they truly care about the entire coffee experience instead of hastily throwing out drinks. Palace really stands out as a top tier coffee shop in Texas. Every community needs a place like Palace, and Canyon y Amarillo definitely benefits from them. My daughter and I went through to get a coffee, all of a sudden we hear a loud pop, my car relays that I have a flat tire at 0% air. I move the car 2-3 feet to the 2nd lane. A worker comes out asks if we are okay due to the noise they heard of the tire popping in their drive thru lane. She was super nice and APOLOGETIC. She brought my daughter a free coffee, she felt so bad, saying they knew the pothole had to be fixed. I had to have the car towed to discount tire across the street as it was not drivable without damaging the rim. Went through an entire process with Dutch bros insurance and they told me they couldn't help me because they couldn't prove the tire wasn't flat in their hula hoop sized pot hole in their drive up ordering lane, despite the works coming out because they heard it. The insurance woman said it could have happened on the main Street (Coulter) and I could have ran over a nail and I drove in like that. Then how did the workers "hear" the tire pop. I don't know how it happened, I wasn't going fast, I just didn't expect a huge pothole there and drove in it and pop. Did they take responsibility? No. Do they now have cones around it? Yes. So $149.10 down the drain because Dutch Bros. Doesn't want to take responsibility for not maintaining a safe drive thru lane. Unfortunately I will not return as a customer, not because I don't enjoy their drinks but because they refuse to admit that it happened on their property and instead blamed me and tried to say it happened elsewhere. Yes because when your tire is completely flat any normal person would risk damaging their rim on a completely flat tire to still go and order a coffee. Shame on Dutch bros.

They definitely had the largest selection though. The girl who was working there was very knowledgeable about all their various teas and I learned a lot that I hadn't previously learned from watching YouTube videos and passed on a little bit of information back. I was going to limit myself to $20 but ended up spending $50 because I found so many items that looked interesting, plus wanting to order a drink there to try out. The place is very nicely laid out and the teas are sold by the ounce. I like that because I could buy a little bit of this and a little bit of that to try out and then I can always go back to get more if I like one better than the others. The atmosphere was very comfortable and welcoming. If you don't want to buy loose teas they have drinks available you can buy, everything from your basic flavored teas you can pour yourself in the back room out of standard dispensers to specialty teas using the loose teas they offer for sale. The place is very easy to find and visible from the street. If you need a landmark it is across the street from Dickey's Barbecue and The Lazy Gator shopping strip. There is parking available right in front. The only reason I took off one star was because I got home and found that there was no receipt in my bags. Most places if they aren't planning on giving you a receipt will ask you if you want one and I always say yes please. If I'm going to spend that much money in a store I'd like to have a receipt to compare against my credit card bill and remind me how much each purchase was. It may be the girl just forgot because we were talking so much or they may not be in the habit of asking. Later I found I had received an email with the information but I'm old school and would rather have a piece of paper I can look at. If you want to break away from Lipton tea bags and try something special, check out their large selection! In fact, I found teas here that I didn't find at Natural Grocers and Market Street and there isn't a blessed tea bag in the store. Oh, and they also have tea making utensils, pots, cups, travel cups, DIY tea bags and strainers you can put the loose tea into and a few more exotic Tea Brewers & dispensers, even some of those honey sticks that you can put in your tea to stir it around and sweeten it at the same time.
