Unlike the mighty S-Bux, they make their coffee one cup at a time with a real espresso maker! I know it's not something to get too crazy excited out but it's a step up from many of the coffee chains. Their carrot cake did a pretty decent job of tasting both fresh and not mass produced. Not the strongest endorsement, I know... But it was pretty tasty! Last time I sat there I was panhandled by some fellow who was randomly approaching tables. Not cool. The coffee is decent. The treats cabinet is great for my waistline as almost nothing in there appeals to me. Been that way for years. Sbux treats are much better. I haven't eaten non treat food there in years but I recall it being pretty good, though quite pricey.

One thing I also found a bit different about this location is the great wall art, on one wall there's a mural of "The Coffee Belt" on the adjacent wall they have a really cool mural of Calgary, and then on the next wall there's some hung paintings. Great art element at this location! It's not obvious that this Starbucks is here as the signage is small outside, I'm guessing it's because it's a licensed non-corporate location. Luckily this means less people, a quieter café and quick/efficient service! As a licensed location there are some downfalls; they don't redeem rewards and don't typically take part in corporate promotions, however you can still earn stars but they'll have to manually enter your card number if you don't have the physical card and only have the app. This also means they don't participate in the free refills benefit given to Green and Gold Members. They do still have all the usual offerings at this location including La Boulange, but their ordering process with corporate works a bit different so they may not be as well stocked as corporate locations. They do open quite early at 6am on weekdays, 7 am on weekends, but they close fairly early as well at 6pm. Not easy to get parking around here either unless you're a guest at the hotel. This is a great Starbucks location, they have some of the better staff I've encountered in all my visits to various Starbucks stores. There's the cool wall art factor, it's quieter and it's a nice place to hangout away from busier crowds. There are some downfalls with being a licensed store, and I probably would have given them 5 stars if they had all the corporate benefits, but they still have all the great usual offerings if you're okay with making a non-promotional order that would fall under the My Starbucks Rewards program.

I do not care how long I had to drive to get one, I would pass 2000 cafes to get to THIS soy chai latte. I think about it and dream about it, I have to have it. Great location inside Market Mall at the top of the food court. I may drink coffee elsewhere here and there but nowhere else do I enjoy this particular latte more. Prices comparable to Starbucks but they do offer a rewards card. What I like about their rewards card at Second Cup is that to get a point towards a free drink, you do not have to have money already loaded on the card. You can pay cash or whatever and just swipe the card which records your purchase. Way better system IMO.

After standing there, waiting a good 20 minutes, I finally got my turn. I empathize that there was only ONE guy working there, but still! The number of times I considered turning around and going somewhere else baffled me. The only reason I didn't is because there is no other coffee joint in the food court and I didn't want to walk across to the other end of the mall to hit up the Starbucks. Although they were clearly understaffed and although I did end up waiting close to a half hour for my chai, I must say, it was tasty & hot. There's nothing worse than waiting that long only to get a luke-warm chai. My heart goes out to the guy that was workin' it as fast as he could, but hopefully their giant hiring sign will get some attention and they'll get a few more worker bees in there. It's great that they even know my order and I never have to request it I don't even there all the time maybe every 2 weeks. I'm always blown away with the customer service from the staff. I have since had the opportunity to use this second cup to do some catering for multiple work functions and it was so handy they even delivered. They called the owner. The owner said they have nothing to do with the artwork, despite them getting a commission of the art sales, and confirmed the art was not there... Despite the artist having personally dropped their art off for sale purposes and was helped by a Barista on where to put their work for storage until a sale was made. TopDown... These people don't know what's going on. The team of staff obviously don't communicate well and aren't on the same page. It's a shame when wanting to support local artists and a local, independent, business gets in their own way as well as the artist's. Not to mention a complete waste of time and money venturing down there only to be met with such unprofessional service.

Seems to be a newer Starbucks because it wasn't on the map...just happened to come across this…read morelocation. The inside looks nice but slightly small and narrow. They also have a small outdoor patio setup in case you want to have coffee on the sidewalk under the trees. The staff were very nice and pleasant and my coffee was made to perfection. This location is not the easiest to access with no Drive Thru but it's nestled in the middle of the building with plenty of parking.
