I previously written this review on 26/12/16 but due to a listing issue where the branches on the West and East were incorrectly merged, I write this again.
Starbucks at Hartshead Moor is the 55th Starbucks store I have visited, which adds up to make 4.5% of all reviews I have listed being a Starbucks Coffee store, most of which being in the United Kingdom where the company has 808 stores, which is a fraction of the 13,548 locations in the United States and Canada.
This branch of Starbucks is located in the Eastbound Hartshead Moor Services, and it is over two parts, one of which is a rather nice, newer part of the store away from the concourse which is mainly a drive-thru, and there is also an older branch actually inside the services on the upper floor, which is either up steps or a steep ramp.
For the purpose of the review, I grabbed my coffee from the smaller stand inside Hartshead Moor Eastbound services, which had traditional Starbucks seating, within reason but it was a shared seating area even for customers of Burger King and Subway elsewhere in the services.
The staff members didn't seem too friendly, he even overfilled my drink and as I didn't realise, I had spilt some of it down me (Luckily it was Iced) which basically covered me in coffee with only a limited time frame to get to the KCOM Stadium in Hull ready to watch my beloved Manchester City defeat Hull City 3-0.]
The coffee quality wasn't great either, it was average and slightly below that. I did order a Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato, as this is one of the stores that had stopped doing Christmas flavours, although my two local branches in Rochdale and Manchester St Ann's Square do still have it, it seems to be something that "once they're gone, they're gone", this is a shame but must be expected from festive flavours.
There was a small selection of sandwiches and merch.
As this store was more expensive, where my drink cost £4.40 rather than the normal price of £3.90, this is an increase of £0.50 which is nearly 13% more mainly down to the location being basically in "the middle of nowhere" and it being a service station and a franchise store, I presume owned by Welcome Break. I used a voucher for a free drink, and I was even lucky to use that as this store did originally refuse to accept Starbucks rewards which is a really poor policy as you could still use your card to acquire points.
Overall, this branch is quite poor although some parts of it such as the newer, drive-thru part are quite nice and it is basically a decent place to grab a coffee if you are in a rush, with no other places being nearby in either Westbound or Eastbound, unless you'd want a coffee from a machine, hence location earns this place an extra star while supported by the nicer, newer drive-thru part to earn two stars, I am also pleased to add that after a recent experience with the Westbound store, this is the nicer branch in Hartshead Moor as a whole, excluding the Drive-thru which is also in the Eastbound, which I'm yet to visit. read more
