The portion sizes were excellent for the price. I was expecting smaller portions, so I was pleasantly surprised when my plate came out packed with food and definitely worth the value. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, especially the location near the Eiffel Tower. Great food, generous portions, and an overall good experience!

I came here on my first visit to France with my sister and brother-in-law. I had just finished my time at the Eiffel tower and walked over to this restaurant for a drink and a snack. I was seated immediately, waiting for the rest of my party. The staff were incredibly patient, allowing me to stay for the fifteen-ish minutes it took for my family to arrive. We, of course, ordered the hot chocolate topped with cream. It was incredibly rich, which was the draw. It was required that we each ordered our own teapot, which provided about two and a half cups of hot chocolate. This was a bit excessive, as the drink was heavy and I could only stomach a cup. I did wish the restaurant allowed us to split the pot amongst our table. Nonetheless, I enjoy dining at Carette and returned on my second Paris trip with my husband. Anyone visiting for the first time should try their thick hot chocolate at least once.

PdF in general would get a high 3 rating, next to 4 stars. However this specific PdF restaurant made me forget about all the good things I liked with this franchise. First of all the staff was really unfriendly, rather grunting at us and hinting with their head towards a table we could sit at. And also later on just following the ordering procedure and serving without a sign of joy for what they do. Being a waiter/waitress might not be everybody's dream job, but you should not show the world how much you actually hate dealing with people. In such cases you should do everyone a favour and find another job. Though my biggest issue (which might have contributed to the staff's discontent) was that the place did stink. There was this stench of sweat all over the place. After me walking around a bit it was obvious that this odour was part of the furniture. The benches which are covered with textile were emitting the smell of several thousand people who did leave their sweat there. It was quite disgusting. Sadly there was no free place outside so we had to stay in. Surprisingly enough the food was sub PdF standard as well (or maybe it was mas imagination after the influx of my quite negative observations at this point), the salmon was very dry, my raspberry and coco smoothie (my favourite at PdF) was very watery. It saddens me, my first PdF review having to be this negative as previously I only had good experiences with the one in the Velzy 2 mall. :/

As we had been traveling all day just to get to Paris for a quick trip, we were famished for something Parisian, ideally bread! In no way did this disappoint. Perfection. Pain au Chocolat Flaky with perfect crumb (holes from the gas between flaky laminated dough layers) and a smidge of chocolate inside. European buttery at its finest. You can't get this in the states. Baguette There is something about getting baguette in France! Warm and thin crispy outside with tender and fluffy crumb inside, and the flavor has the right amount of fermentation and texture is proofed perfectly. Excellente. They serve it in a partial piece of square liner so you can just bite the head off and enjoy while walking down the street.
