I highly recommend Eyal and the team at Star Steel! Our gate motor had been giving us constant problems and even almost hit my car. Since the motor was over 15 years old, we knew it was time for a replacement. A friend of mine had previously worked with Eyal and highly recommended him, so we reached out. Eyal came out promptly, explained everything clearly, and gave us a very fair and reasonable price. His team replaced the motor quickly and did an excellent job. They were professional, reliable, efficient, and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. If you're looking for honest service and quality work, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Eyal and his team. Thank you again! read more

The owner of this company was extremely unprofessional while working at the apartment complex next door. He parked directly below my window with all four doors of his vehicle open and blasted music at an excessive volume for an extended period of time. I politely asked if he could turn it down, and instead of responding professionally, he made rude comments. He told me, "If you think this is bad, wait until Sunday," and dismissed my concern by saying, "It's already 11 a.m." People work overnight shifts, have young children, or simply deserve to enjoy some peace in their own homes. Being loud in a residential neighborhood is inconsiderate regardless of the time. After telling me to "wait two minutes," he got into his vehicle and repeatedly honked / laid on his horn the entire time he was leaving the driveway, which felt intentionally disrespectful. I called the company afterward to report the incident and was surprised to learn that the person I spoke with identified him as the owner. That makes this behavior even more disappointing, as owners should set the standard for professionalism and respect. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. read more

Job well done on our driveway & gate callbox. Eyal & crew started & completed the job on time, everything looks & works great. New concrete on driveway, new post for callbox & new gate motor everything is working well. Thank You read more

We reached out to star steel to look at our gate motor as it was stuck, they came out and replaced the control board, it worked for a few hours and then would again remain open. They helped us troubleshoot over the phone and said it's likely an eye safety sensor issue, likely needing replacement. They looked into a replacement sensor and called us to let us know it would be $750 to replace the sensor with labor. That is a ridiculous price for a simple sensor. The sensor costs $80 and took 20 mins to replace on my own. I understand charging for labor but wanting what amounts to $2000 an hour for a 20 min job is extortion level. Do not recommend. read more

High-end modern metal work, excellent execution!!! We had a custom front gate and balcony railings fabricated and installed, and the final result came out beautifully. The design is clean, modern, and ties everything together perfectly with the style of the house. The gate is solid, smooth, and very well-built, and the balcony railings have the same level of precision and clean finish. Everything feels cohesive, like it was designed as one complete system rather than separate pieces. What really stood out was the attention to detail and the quality of the work. The lines are perfectly aligned, the finish is consistent, and the installation was done professionally from start to finish. The process was smooth, communication was clear, and they delivered exactly what they promised. It's not easy to find this level of craftsmanship and reliability. Highly recommend for custom gates, railings, or any modern metal work. read more

Eyal came out on a Sunday morning and fixed my gate day of. He was great, professional, and punctual.

My condo had two pedestrian gates that needed repair (one wouldn't stay closed and the other wouldn't lock properly), and Yelp sent our request to several companies. Star Steel was the only company that was reliable and responsive (all the companies got back to us quickly, but one was a no show and the others were noncommittal). The next day, Eyal showed up on time and fixed both gates within 20 minutes- the man definitely has experience and it shows! They are very communicative (almost too much- lol) and the price was fair. I will be definitely be using them again! read more

I am a very demanding customer, I had a complicated post-fire project, a very large , two custom gates, retaining wall and custom staircase project. The team came out, offered fantastic ideas and creativity,, was very open to my needs, working around my other contractors, completed the job with skill, confidence, and honestly, a great attitude! ( completely on time) I highly recommend Star Steel, for all of your outdoor needs. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! The man who owns this company is vile, he treats the neighborhoods he's working in with zero respect. The neighbors are threatening to call the cops the next time he comes back to this area because he is such a disturbance. Cursing and being rude, everyone is fine with work noises but he goes out of his way to disturb the area & after being here for weeks apparently he's not able to fix what needed to be fixed so even the quality of work is trash. Stay away go with someone you won't have extra issues with while trying to fix your problem. read more

Eyal sets the standard of what one would hope every contractor should follow in working with a customer. I am absolutly in love with my rod iron gate. Firstly because I now don't have as much anxiety about putting my two kids into the car since it's secured. Secondly because it was custom built precisely how I wanted it. Eyal, the owner, followed up with all details I brought to his attention and always showed up when he said he would. The work was fast & pricing was compared to several other estimates & was the most reasonable, flexible & honest. If I had a question or concern AFTER I paid him and the job was done he still came that same day to address it. That said, we would use this company again & have recommended him to our neighbors. read more

The hinges on my wrought iron gate needed to be replaced. I put in a Yelp request for bids on the project and Eyal from Star Steel was the first to respond and to explain how he would make the repair. While his bid wasn't initially the least expensive he agreed to match the lowest bid. He sent out Alberto to make the repair the following day and Alberto did a great job welding the hinges with ones that are more heavy duty, priming them and then painting them. read more

Eyal is the nicest guy! He came out and we talked about what we could do to replace my shaky and unsafe block steps leading up to my swimming pool equipment. We discussed what the steps and handrail would look like together and he gave me an estimate. Just a few days later we met again out by his truck and waited a few minutes for his guys to deliver the steps. Eyal and his crew carried it into the back yard and carefully bolted the steps into the wall and the concrete floor. Installation was very secure and took only a few minutes. Star Steel gave me a fair price and was able to complete the steel gate needed within 3 days turnaround time. The reason why I had to knock off a star is because the initial gate that came had the handle/lock box on the wrong side of the double door entry. And instead of just going with the way it was fabricated, I insisted that I must have the handle/lock on the correct side. They took the gate/door back to the shop can returned the very next day with it properly fabricated. Overall satisfied with final product. read more

We had an excellent experience with Star Steel and Eyal. After using Isaacs Ironworks, we were left with a broken mess of a gate for years that required all kinds of repairs and never worked properly. Star Steel came out and completely repaired and painted the entire gate and upgraded our motors and now we are so happy! We've already hired him again to design and install a new 8 foot wide entrance gate on the side of our home and we're thrilled with it too! Excellent work, done in a timely manner and by professional workers. The price reflects the exceptional quality and how happy we are with the final outcome. Highly recommend read more

I had heard of Star Steel and the reviews looked pretty good. The owner Eyal came the next day with his assistant, right after i called. Very fast, he offered to look at our needs. We needed four handrails with posts on different staircases around our home. . The price seemd high but I did not complain. I authorized the work and said they should call in a week to arrange the install. However, they called to do the work as soon as I came back from a trip and tried to come on the wrong day. I insisted the install must wait to the next day, in the afternoon. . The next day, the two installers came in the late morning, before I was home from my errands. They went ahead and started installing the outdoor section, and I arrived home while that was being completed. . I noticed the assemblies were only painted with gray primer, not white as requested on the order. I asked these installers (NOT Eyal and his first helper) about the color; they said that is done in the shop. Nevertheless, the welding quality and steel quality was excellent, so they finished installing all four assemblies and spray painted the outdoor unit with my paint, at my request. . They did not bring the baseplate covers, but cut off some of the protruding bolts for safety. And they forgot to cut off other bolts. . We asked Eyal to arrange the painting, but then we decided not to let them do any spray painting in our living room (where their assemblies were now bolted to the floor). Eyal came himself, cut off the remaining bolts, and bought us a can of new white paint so we could finish the paint job with our own care and concern. I also asked Eyal to get us 9 baseplate covers, which he agreed to do. However, after calling for about 2 weeks, he could not get any, so I purchased my own and modified them to fit where needed. (He did call me in the third week and offered me the covers, but by then I did not need them.) Now, with our paint job and our baseplate covers, the job looks really nice. STAR's welding work is excellent, but I just wish they attended more to detail on small, close-up projects like this. read more

I would not recommend Star Steel at all. I'm in Chatsworth so everything get's a little marked up - that fine. He quoted me a year ago and bothered me every day till I told him to stop and promised I wouldn't do any repairs to my sliding gate till I called him first. As promised, I followed up when the gate final died this July. He showed up, we agree to increase the quote by 10% for all the known reason at this time of existence (COVID, materials, etc.). He started the next day. The guy that showed up was not a bad welder but not super clean. Things started to get strange from here. The guy used scrap rollers of different sizes on the the gate. When I noticed it, he said the owner didn't give him any new ones. I called him and he argued but sent new, full size rollers out. The guy the did the work was nice but not the usual guy that does the field work, he told me. It showed. Most of the job was unfinished when he left. I told the owner he needed to come out and finish the job. He asked me over and over if the 'envelope' would be there - the envelope of cash. The bill wasn't crazy, only $2,750 total. But after he arrived, and I showed him what needed to be done he began to argue with me, stopping around and telling me the job was done. For example, he didn't clean up and of the welds. It was a complete Micky Mouse job. Nothing was primed or painted. All the edges were rough with sharp steel edges poking out. To fix a dip in the track, the installer simply hammered a bit of scrap underneath and welded the raw metal to it. Wouldn't make it a year without rusting in the pool of water that goes to the lowest point. He argued about that. He argued about using a random primer AND, god forbid a second coat with rust proof paint HE DIDN'T have. He argued about the over spray. He didn't bring anything to cover the ground or brick work when he painted. He argued when I asked him to finish the painting work - he sprayed over dirt that was on the work - yes, and told me that's normal. When I ran my finger over it to show him it would just come off he had a complete fit and started telling me I was a never going to pay him and he didn't need the aggravation and this and that. I had to get one of my employees to come join me because he was so off the hook. And always with the 'did you bring the envelope?' over and over again. Of course I paid him but not until I had him sign the invoice that he stood behind his work for a 3 year period - in writing, signed by him. I would never hire him again and would tell anyone that asked the same thing because of my experience with him. Poor quality, difficult to work with, more expensive then others, argumentative from right after he starts. read more

We recently moved into our home and our first project was to replace an old, double-swing out driveway gate with a motorized single swing gate. We also needed rails brought up to code and some new ones installed. Eyal responded right away. He gave a competitive quote with the other companies we spoke to, and was able to do the work immediately. If I could give 6 stars for quality, I would. Especially on the railings. They're absolutely beautiful and far more durable than what was previously installed. The only reason I docked a star was for customer service. While Eyal and Star Steel are very communicative, it's not always effective communication. We had quite a few misunderstandings that led to a bit of stress on our end, especially when it came to changing an agreed upon price. Once we expressed our concern, it felt like there was some attitude, but Eyal rectified and offered back the price agreed upon. When we had to change part of our project after install (something entirely not his fault), he was very amenable to making the change. Overall, we're very pleased with the work itself. It's clear Star Steel is passionate about quality. I look forward to hopefully increasing this review to 5 stars in the future - either with more interaction with the Star Steel team or through the products passing the test of time! read more

Star Steel recently installed a metal handrail at my house. I spoke to several competitors, but you should not waste your time with anyone else. Eyal responded to my Yelp inquiry within an hour or so, inspected the job the next day and installed the railing two days later. Where do I begin?! Eyal and his team are amazing. When an owner puts passion into their company you are blessed with success. I had a few quotes to choose from but after some other names scoffed at my older iron gates, telling me I needed new ones entirely, I was a little put off going for an automatic motor on my existing iron gate until I could save more for a new one. Eyal gave me a free home visit with confident opinion on how to upgrade my existing gates and offered service the very next day. I would have been a fool to not accept his offer and within 8 hours I have an automatic rolling iron gate that moves as smooth as butter with remotes and keypad along with a simple key lock box walk-in gate upgrade. I'll be touching up my own paint which was an offer to help make it affordable for me. Bottom line, this company cares about customers with realistic goals. From celebrity clients to humble me, you'll get the right treatment and results with Star Steel. Thank you! read more

I was looking to install a new gate on my driveway and checked on yelp for different gate companies. Eyal got back to me immediately and came over that day to take measurements and give me a quote. Let me say upfront, that Eyal at Star Steel set the bar for what it means to deliver quality service on time and not only meet but exceed expectations. I've had a series of less the stellar experiences with previous contractors doing work on my property. So after much research, I can't begin to express how refreshing it was to meet with Eyal who responded to my inquiries in a timely manner, showed up on time to all our appointments, provided great insight into what options would best meet my needs and effectively managed my expectations on the timeline for completing the project. To provide some context, I was initially looking for a contractor to replace my old iron gate at the back of my Duplex. However, in addition, I also needed to repave the entire driveway area and get power from the electrical panel to the motor of the new motorized gate. Based on my previous experience, I fully expected to have to find three different contractors that I would manage and coordinate with to ensure everything was done right and on time. When Eyal came by to provide me with an Estimate for the gate, we also talked about the fact that I would need to coordinate his work on the gate with other contractors who would be doing the electrical work and repaving the driveway. He indicated that he could provide services to do the entire project. Recent experiences left me skeptical, so asked that he provide separate quotes for the gate and the driveway repaving which he was more than willing to accommodate. I received a detailed quote for both the very next day! From the first meeting with Eyal, I got a good vibe. He was professional, on time and very knowledgeable about not only the gate replacement but the nuances I needed to take into consideration for ensuring proper water drainage in the driveway area. I decided to go with my gut and accepted Eyal's bid to do the entire project. Star Steel started the work when they said they would at 7:30am Monday morning and finished everything required ahead of schedule.... Despite the fact that we had a few adjustments to deal with along the way due to some unforeseen legacy foundation layers in the back of this 83+ year old duplex. It's important to note that a good contractor gives you reasonable options to consider when these unforeseen issues arise. Eyal, kept me in the loop every step of the way and laid out options that took into consideration my timeline requirements and budget which allowed me to make informed decisions. As I said at the start of this review, working with Eyal of Star Steel has set the bar when it comes to working with a reliable contractor to deliver quality work in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend Star Steel to anyone looking for a contractor to do similar work on their property. read more

We wanted to add some security and privacy to our home, which was pretty exposed to the street, so I put out a message on Yelp to steel and gate companies. Eyal at Star Steel was probably the quickest to respond and we were soon discussing the scope of the job, and he was actually able to come by a few hours later to give an estimate. Our first plan came in higher in cost than I was looking to do, and Eyal gladly came by the next day to help figure a way to scale the project to work for me. And with that, he was on the job working to build what I needed and within one week, I had the finished gates installed (3 in total, from a simple swing door to a large driveway gate that was engineered to follow the slope of the property when it opens). I will admit I didn't get multiple bids and price shop - I was so impressed with Eyal's enthusiasm and willingness to get this job done, I was happy to just get started and get the job done. The quality of the finished work is top notch and I think integrates so seamlessly with my house design, it not only offers additional security, I believe it adds to the curb appeal. I found Eyal to be prompt, very communicative, and just a nice guy to work with! He brings good ideas and recommendations but definitely listens to his clients' needs as well. read more
