I found Sawaya Automotive online and brought the car in. I could immediately tell that I had made a good choice. He has helped me get my transmission replaced in an old Toyota Avalon, knows the best guy to get your engine steam-cleaned, and helped connect me with a center that does body-damage/painting after a collision. The reason I am just writing a review after going to him for 8 years is because I was blown-away with my last service experience with him a few days ago. I took my 2011 Toyota Camry in for it's 60,000 mile service, which he did along with replacing my rear struts (which were original). My car is now running better than it did when I bought it 2 years ago at 35,000 miles. Not only that, but he completed all the work in 1 day and didn't charge me for an additional $600 worth of work. Three of my wheels came off with no issue but the one wheel that IAS had to take off to replace the exhaust manifold was severely over torqued. When I called to ask about this, they told me they didn't even have record of having my exhaust manifold replaced- they told me the only had a record of having my turbo replaced (which was never done). They also told me that the wheel was torqued to manufacture specification, however, no other shop or person worked on my car after IAS. I'm conflicted because it seems like they are capable of quality work but forget or slip up on the basics.

I have had oil changes done here, brakes, water pump, various issues, related to coolant, radiator, hoses, etc. they produce quality work at a fraction of the cost of most dealerships. Most occasions when I drop off my car, I just stay and work in the lobby until it's ready for pick up. It's unfortunate that my car has needed so much work, but I have enjoyed working with their team and I trust their expertise and the quality of business that they do. I managed to make it the 40 miles home, but it was Sunday, and as you know, almost every shop was closed. After reading the reviews here, I decided to give Evan a call. He responded within an hour while finishing another job and was at my place about 30 minutes later. I had already stopped at AutoZone out of desperation, where they suggested it might be a failing fuel pump, which is a potentially expensive repair. Evan took a completely different approach. He inspected the engine, ran his own diagnostics, and quickly determined that the real issue was a misfiring spark plug in cylinder 3. What really stood out was how much he explained along the way. Instead of just fixing the problem and leaving, he walked me through what he was seeing and why. I learned more about my engine in that hour than I ever have from a traditional repair shop. After replacing the spark plug, he cleaned everything up, gave me maintenance tips, and pointed out a few items that would eventually need attention...including a leaking valve cover gasket that had allowed oil to pool in the spark plug well, along with a worn motor mount and drive belt. There was no pressure...just honest advice about what to prioritize when I had the time. I trusted his assessment enough that I had him come back the following week to take care of those repairs as well. His pricing was better than what I would have paid at a dealership or most repair shops, he's easy to talk to, never makes you feel intimidated if you don't know much about cars, and the fact that he offers mobile service with such flexible hours is a huge bonus.
