My cars engine literally blew up, everyone's worst nightmare! I called these guys and they told me to come by right away. I was diagnosed in like 1 minute and they told me exactly what it would cost, right away. They also suggested I call around and get a few other quotes, which I appreciated because it felt like they were looking out for me. They ended up being the best price, and in 2 days my engine was replaced on my 2008 Scion xB. They didn't make me feel stupid for not noticing that I was leaking oil, which I also appreciated. A week later my alternator went out and I took it back to 24th right away. They were on it right away and I can tell they really care about getting my car back to a reliable state. I brought my car back for an oil change a few days ago and they recognized me, treated me super nice, and had it done in ten minutes. I'm really stoked to finally have a mechanic I can trust. The most amateur place you may ever see in your life. Yes they are cheaper than most of the places in the town but it may take a month or more to get your car back. After I dropped my car they got back to me 2 months later saying the part that I bought was wrong part. 2 months ? Seriously? You haven't even checked the part for two month ? Now I can't return the part to anywhere because it's out of return period and I have lost hundreds of dollars just because of their negligence !!!! Horrible ! read more

Easy, laid back and honest no-frills mechanic shop. I needed brake pads & rotors replaced and already had the parts. I pulled up, got a fair quote and before I knew it, my car was good to go. You can go to the mart across the street or restaurants nearby while you wait, but they were fast enough I didn't mind just hanging around. I'll be going back again for sure! read more

I almost don't want to reveal this diamond in the rough to the world because I don't want them to raise their prices by the next time I need their services. However, the value and service I got from this place was so good I feel guilty not giving them a review so they can get some well deserved business. Not that they are hurting though - when I was waiting for my repairs they had a flurry of activity of people dropping off cars and getting quotes. The place is a dirty sty, but hey this is an auto repair shop in the hood so what do you expect? My husband had some work done at this place a few times and when my brakes started squealing he told me to bring it here. I had actually gotten a quote from a "reputable" chain type place in point Loma who told me I needed new rotors and everything else replaced to the tune of $1000. This place told me that was B.S. and I just needed new brake pads. They told me to walk over to autozone a few doors down and purchase my choice of brakes and bring them back for installation. Installation was $40 even. What a steal of a deal. They did an awesome and honest job. I really like the idea of buying your own parts - no mark up and you know exactly what you are getting. It was 1 hour for the whole process. I'm checking with this place first whenever I need car repairs. They were completely honest, fast, and friendly. The only downside, was that they didn't have any seats or anywhere to sit. I had to sit on the curb on the street and made some phone calls to pass the time. So, this place might not suit the faint hearted but for those who can deal with the hood, its a good deal. read more

I had them replace my transmission over a year ago with a 1 year warranty and a little after the year was up my transmission started to have problems again with a solenoid and took it to Frank again and paid another 400 dollars only to have it happen again. I spent 1200 dollars the first time. Than he told me to sell my truck because it was going to need another transmission and that a noise that was coming from the differential was going to cost 600 dollars and all together it would cost 1800 dollars, so I should sell my vehicle! I went to C and L auto repair and the noise wasn't the differential but the bearings and they fixed it. I also went to a transmission repair place and they told me that the transmission doesn't get replaced but fixed of what ever the problem is. This man either doesn't know what he's doing or is also dishonest! I will never go back to him to fix my vehicle! This place is unprofessional and dishonest and should be avoided. read more

I took my car in today for service after reading the yelp reviews. I was 100% satisfied and impressed with the level of service. I arrived at 7 am, because according to yelp they open at 7, however they open at 8. I was in and out with a full tune up in less than 2 hours. Junior told me what parts I needed. I walked to AutoZone down the street and purchased them myself. This of course kept the cost down. Don't be fooled by the simple and modest lot. These guys are awesome, prices are more than reasonable. Get there early, people were lining up to get their cars worked on. This shop deserves more than 5 stars!!! read more

I have an old mercedes. Its kind of swanky black has a hard top or soft top. Took it there on my boyfriends opinion that there was smoke in the tail pipe and its serious. Junior tells me that it will be $5,0000 minimum to rebuild the engine. I went to Heinz Geitz and they changed my oil and said nothing wrong for sure. 4 years later still running with nothing but regular oil changes with nothing but my car needs. I have been taking my cars with Jr for the past 8 years; they are honest and will fix the problem to your vehicle at a low cost. They don't add more hidden problems to your repairs, VERY HONEST! I have taken four of our vehicles for repairs, from motor replacement, transmission, clutch, etc and they have left my cars running great, running better at a very low cost. Example of how honest they are and why I will not go with anyone else, one time I needed an oil change and I went to a place called Sparks, I went there cause it was near my job and I was doing it on my lunch, they wanted to charge me $400.00 because they said the oil pan need replacement and the plug to the oil was missing, they told me if , I drove out of there with the vehicle , I would mess up the motor. I called Jr and told him what these mechanics had said and he told me, tell them to put a temporary plug "which only costs $2.00" and let them know it only costs $2.00 your mechanic told you, Jr reassure me nothing would happen to my car with the temporary plug. I took the car the next day to Jr and he showed me there was nothing wrong with the oil pan and he installed a new oil plug at $0 cost, only paid for the part which was $10.00. HONEST!!!!
