The school was formed in 1956 from the merger of Spencer School, named after Spencer County, Indiana, by settlers who arrived in 1901, and Star School, named by Henry Dodd after a school in Kansas. The school serves grades 9-12, has a student population of approximately 400. Its mascot is the Bobcat, and school colors are navy blue and white.
