I was forced to go to a Dentist my whole life that was the official Dentist of the Sacramento Kings but that man traumatized me and did absolutely poor work. I'm addition their Orthodontist left me with constant pain and malocclusion that has worn my teeth down. Both those men's ego were larger than their skill. And I'm not an average reviewer here, I have medical education and a decade of experience in clinical in administration. Plus I had business which relied on my ability to vet quality providers, with an emphasis on surgeons. So I know good hands and eyes when I see them. I had a panic attack before I went in, because I had waited so long out of fear of the same kind of experience. But I left feeling like my feet weren't touching the ground. I felt no pain from the root canal. None! And he didn't give me anything that would cover up any pain, he simply knew how to handle a needle and used such finesse I wondered if I should start another medical concierge business because I have never seen even the best surgeon be so patient and careful. I have a very serious medical condition that has degraded my bones and teeth so I will be going back for more work. I should also mention that I consulted four other dentists first and this was the only place that gave the right treatment option and knew how to bill. Plus they all had attitudes like my business was somehow an inconvenience. And I do not have good insurance, granted, but I am a well connected woman who could've sent them cash clients. The staff here was also utterly delightful and beautiful. Where did you guys find these girls, Elite modeling agency? I've worked with so many medical professionals and it is rare to find so many in one place with such good bedside manner. I felt so silly for being so nervous, I was not acting like myself. But they never shamed me or talked behind my back. Even when I came in the second time loopy as heck because of a sleeping medication I took way too late the night before. I probably did act a fool but they never made me feel like I did. In fact the second phase of the procedure went so smooth I had no memory of that entire day. I know that was in large part due to the medication but had it been painful or uncomfortable the brain has a natural mechanism which kicks in and stores negative memory as a protective response for future encounters, overriding any side effect of even the strongest medication. Now the best part of my smile is that crown, so I'm almost hoping the rest of my teeth get worse so I can have the beautiful smile I once had. So I hope the office reads this, because I'm going to make another appointment as soon as I'm back in town (I travel for work as a Consultant, Makeup Artist, and Commissioned Artist). Because of my health however, I can't work like I used to. If you guys would like some art for your office let know, I do any style. I just hope my Manager doesn't see this because my originals aren't cheap. But I don't care, because a beautiful smile is priceless and your work is worth it! read more

Not one of the MANY DIFFERENT hygienists I saw flossed through my bridge and never used that tool that checks your gum depth. I asked about it and the hygienists did not know what I was talking about. At other dentists the hygienists discussed my gum and tooth issues and the dentist checked in on me. There were issues and we were able to keep things healthy. Not here! These people said I was fine. I had a gut feeling and evidence that things were not healthy so I left. Now I'm at another dentist and I need major work. Expensive and should have been unnecessary. Please do not go here. They have a motto on their advertisement" we love your insurance"... We first came in as a walk-in for one of our kids b/c our regular dentist wasn't able to see our child. The way my child was treated from the receptionist, dental assistant & dentist was all it took. We moved dentist to Star Smiles Dental Group. ÷0) The dentist is super nice & was able to give me a valium to be as relaxed as possible so that he could give me a root canal. One of our kids was in a bad bike accident & lost some teeth. Dr. Aboelala took great care of her. He was able to fit her with permanent teeth. So this is my 2nd time here in this office. I figured I would give them another chance. On my first experience, my dental assistant is fresh out of dental school. It seemed like she didn't know all too well what she was doing and she did a half job when it came to my cleaning. I came back again for my periodontal treatment that they called me for and said my insurance cleared. When I got checked in and moved to a room, the dentist had no idea what I was there for and told me he thought I was getting a cleaning, they haven't heard back from my insurance and couldn't help me. I visited this Dental Office 1/08/19 for an exam and x-rays and cleaning. I told them three times NOT to apply any fluoride, so, they didn`t. However, my receipt stated they did, and was therefore charging my insurance incorrectly. I called the office to have the error fixed. I was told it was a clerical error and they would call me back. They didn`t call back. Tonight, I called again and the Dentist himself got on the phone to tell me that "the charges would be refunded back to my Insurance company, but, I was no longer welcome in his office." Dr. Mahmoud Salama is the one that's usually treated me and honestly sometimes it seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. I needed further treatment for my wisdom teeth and he basically told me to figure it out on my own. And he charged my insurance for extra procedures that he never performed. I went in to get it sorted a while ago and was told they fixed the issue and I didn't have to worry - turns out they marked it as paid so they still took money from my insurance. I've been here about 4-5 times. I came in Jan '14 for a root canal and crown and it's still going strong no problems. My regular dentist quoted me $2,200 for the crown and $1,400 for the root canal. THANK GOD FOR GROUPON!!! I paid less than half. I came in about a week ago for a small chip in my tooth I got from grinding it too much after going without my retainer for too long. Unbeknownst to me, this place actually does retainers straight from Invisalign, which saved me a trip to the East Bay to see my regular orthodontist. None the less, he fixed my chip with bonding and it looks better than before the chip. The bonding actually gives it a thicker, healthier look whereas before my tooth was starting to look translucent from wear and tear and different shades of coffee stains. My only gripe about this place is that when it comes to routine cleanings I feel sometimes they're in a hurry. I'm used to having each tooth scraped one by one anywhere else. I feel at this place I have to ask them to do that, otherwise they'll breeze through the scrape process in like 3 min to get straight to the polishing. Also it'd be cool if the dentist opened up more. Watch espn, or Giants games and pretend you're a fan and ask if I seen the game last night. But overall, this is my dentist now.... and will continue to be for the future. read more

I was seen by the Dr. as a walk-in first thing on a Monday morning because I was in desperate need of an emergency root canal. I was kind of scared since I'm 5 months pregnant. I explained how the pain was so excruciating that I didn't get an ounce of sleep the night before and had no idea which tooth was actually causing me all this pain. The Dr. & his staff were so professional, took me right away, talked me through everything & made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. When it was all said and done, I came home & took a 3.5 hour nap. When I woke, the pain was completely gone! This is the absolute best dentist I've ever been to! I struggled for a year to find someone who can do a complicated root canal and he was able to do it for me. One of the best dentists and Hygenist I've ever met! They have hands of a feather and get you in and out in no time. Zainab greeted me with such warmth, took my xrays and cleaned my teeth with such delicateness. Dr Salama gave his honest opinion of my teeth, claiming I had no cavities and explained how I had a sinus infection which was causing the pressure and pain on my upper molars. They won't help and have no problem wasting your time and making sure you take time off of work to do it.
