During family trips to Alberta when I was a kid, a chuckle and fit of anticipation would come over our car when we saw:

In the prairie grassland of southern Alberta, a tiny farming town raised eyebrows with its name: Vulcan. Um, I'm hoping all of you know why.
Yes, Vulcan is the name of this sleepy little town, but what's the first thing you think of?? Yes. Star Trek.
Star Trek: the world's SECOND best sci-fi space series
(it goes without saying that Star Wars is truly where it's at)
But yeah, we have to give Vulcan some props. They picked an interesting offbeat name for their fair town. Founded in the early 1900's, Vulcan serendipitously named their town after a railroad surveyor, and who woulda thunk it.
June 10, 1995: the day Vulcan took their name to intergalactic heights. Star Ship FX6-1995-A was erected off of Highway 23. So, if you're a Trekkie. You have a mission. You have to set a Star Date and destination for Vulcan. It is your Mecca. (Heck, Spock himself visited this little town during the premiere of the most recent Star Trek).
You gotta love Trekkies.
Vulcan, May The Force Be With You, Always.
