Trekcetera Museum - Museum exhibits

Great place to see original star trek props and artifacts from various movies and TV shows. Also…read morehave other miscilanious original artifacts from other sci fi shows and movies. Cool opportunity to see the details up close on the props. Great place to visit for that loyal and dedicated star trek or superman fan. The museum continues to add to exhibits from time to time. The only regret or concern is the location. Located in a small town in farming community. Be prepared for the extra drive and detour if traveling to and from Alaska like we were. No regrets for us. If you like old barns there are few in the area to see and photograph along hwy 23. Just make sure you respect trespassing laws. Stop by the town visitor center that is shaped like a space ship. The owners of trekcetra mentioned that they are thinking of moving to Calgary nearby. That means more visitors and walk in traffic. Also a bigger location to display many other trek artifacts. Right now the place is like the Smithsonian museum. They only display a portion of there unique collection. Hope that works out. Hate to see this place and all the incredible work to create this dream disappear. Go visit this place if you dont mind the extra 20-30 minutes drive thought farmlands coming to or from Calgary. Star Trek fans dont be futile see this place.

It's hard, but I have to drop a half star here. When I was here last, it was newly open. I could…read moreexcuse some empty areas in the museum, and some messy bathrooms, but during a recent visit, the same area was fairly empty, and the bathrooms were still a mess. Now it was Treaty Day, and they had a few events here, so maybe this is the reason for the washroom sloppiness (there was a talent show, bbq, and 10k run---I was too late for all of them) :( But yeah, last year I was in awe. I noted some shortcomings, but I assumed they'd get remedied after a year or so of operation. Unfortunately, not much was different. Museums should be dynamic and ever-changing. They should give reason for return visits. Our people have so much to offer, and THIS IS A MAGNIFICENT MUSEUM. So, let's represent! (Don't get me wrong though---I'll be back!). On a techie note, they did have free wifi, so I was able to check email on my phone!

To be honest I have a bit of mixed feelings about this place. First of all it is a great venue, the…read moreexhibition is very interesting and you can learn a lot about the history i.e. Treaty No. 7. But, ... then there is what Corey already mentioned: some display lights were off or broken, an area with a photo exhibition was completely in the dark, posters were starting to peel off from the displays... There seems to be a lack of maintenance. The experience with the staff however was flawless. Very friendly and professional. A note on the side: some trails are still closed after the 2013 flooding.

For what it is, they do an excellent job at it. Just not my idea of fun or something interesting…read more If you like history, pioneers or antiques, you may find this a good use of time. Lots of carriages through various time periods are on display. Open 10-4 seven days a week. Large free parking lot. Their gift shop and restaurant were closed.

Cardston, Alberta, Canada…read more As I'm high tailing Canadian La Migra & end up on small stretch of hwy that has max speed of 30 kph (that is frigging 18 mph)... I figure... I can speed through this town or enjoy the pretty colors. Glad I slowed down and booom I see the signs for this museum/center for... Carriages? Yes, for carriages. Okay i figure... Canada names stuff differently so what the heck (e.g. washroom/bathroom). The museum is dedicated to carriages... that are pulled by horses/animals from generations past. Think of this museum as an old school car show... Real Old School. The exhibitions are well formatted w/ great lighting, colors, cleanliness, legibility, organization & boundaries (which is consistent in Alberta). Showcases all types of carriages from an fire truck, two-seater convertibles to the predecessor of the mini-van. This spot is truly one of a kind. I never heard of a museum dedicated to carriages and if one exists, I doubt it sits on the acres Remington offers. Must visit if you are nearby... Whether you are ever nearby is a different discussion. Access/Roads: A Paved. Your in a civilized town. Parking: A More than enough. Thank God for a place in Canada that doesn't ask you to pay $8-12 USD to pay for parking. Distance: F St. Mary, MT - This is town to Eastern Glacier NP Entrance and is 35 miles South of the museum. Browning, MT - This is the largest town w/ Wal-Mart etc and is about 60 miles South of the museum, but due to a mixture of road construction, terrible terrain, windy roads, cows on the highway, etc., the route might take two hours. Plus, Browning is a depressed mountain town w/ ugly colors, beggars/vagrants everywhere and crap data connectivity. Waterton Canadian National Park, AB - This colorful forest is about 44 KM (27 miles) west of the museum. Calgary, AB - The largest town nearby is 230 KM (140 miles) north of the museum. Calgary is the largest town between Vancouver and Toronto. Los Angeles, CA - 1,400 miles away from each other. Costs: A $13 Canadian and appx $8 USD Nearby Attractions: Limited to National Parks. Glacier NP is south. Waterton Lakes Canadian NP is West. There are many little historical junk in between, but I will add that to my blog within the next 10 years. Conclusion: A The typical Canadian treatment can be expected. Nice, polite, courteous, docile, happy, friendly, hospitable and ends every word with a "aye,"or "eh." Remington has themed events per calendar. I don't see that much interest in watching bunch of folks ride a carriage although being in a carriage if they drag raced, or jousted would be a unique experience. As always - Safe travelings my friends & watch out of big ole mooses. Picture gallery: https://www.facebook.com/SiRTurbo/media_set?set=a.10157275074437324&type=3 IG @cigarcpa
