I would have recommended this business with the old owners, but understand why some didn't care for the place! The remodel is a complete 180 and looks great. It's comfortable and relaxing. New owner Anne is sweet and really wants all of her customers walking in to get the best service in the quickest available time. I never skimp when it comes to my self care. I got the number one for both pedicure and manicure. I got William this time around and will most likely request him every time! My feet and legs feel brand new after an hour in his hands. Connie did my manicure portion of my visit, while she is amazing, she had to leave to help others during my session making me have to wait or have a gap in care. Which is awesome that everyone gets attention. I just really noticed the wait time while sitting there on those wonderful massage chairs. I will say Connie did a fantastic job on waxing my eyebrows last week and I doubt I will go to anyone else ever again. Absolutely not! I asked for French tip with a white powder middle finger with an outline blue heart. Jade the tech. Sat me down. I explained what I wanted and she started. After clipping my nails, she got up to clean the floor which took 10 minutes. Sat back down and proceeded. She asked if I wanted her to cut my cuticles. I said yes. Nothing was explained how it would cost more. She then started the little nail pen thingy on my nails. She kept going over the same spot over and over especially at the base of my nails. In the picture you can see the worst spot on my index finger. Bled enough where she had to stop working on my nails for a few. She moves on to my left thumb and again, bleeding. She sprayed 5 times of alcohol on my nails. Oh lord it burned like crazy!! I had to stop her so I can work through the pain she inflicted. She started adding the "hard coat" on all 10 fingers. Completely forgetting the white powder that was requested. When she got to the last finger, she clicked her tongue and said how she forgot about the white and said she is going to paint the nail white because she thinks it will last longer. She went to shaping and as you can see, ALL nails are different shapes. She added the heart.... It's filled in. Not what I asked for! Absolutely unhappy with it which was expressed to her!! You can see in the picture how there's dust and black crap on my nails. It for not come off. Like dust!! My daughter also got her nails and toes done. She requested powdered blue nails which she did not receive. It was painted on. The sides of her nails, you can see the natural nail. SMH. She expressed to the tech and they blew her off. They also cut her cuticles without asking me. Her mother! She received a pedicure. I told them just the classic. $35. My daughter said the water was scolding hot. The tech told her "you'll get use to it" my daughter is 11! I posted 2 pictures of the prices. 1 that is posted everywhere online. The second one is in a book that is not given to you unless you ask. Nothing else is posted on the walls. Absolutely disgusted how they rushed us because it was storming and they were ready to go home. We came in at 5:30! They close at 7. Will never go back! $145 leaving unhappy. Made the first time my daughter getting acrylics the worst. We both left not receiving what we asked for! All the ladies in there unprofessional. They will brush you off if you didn't like something and demand you pay for the service. False advertising on prices. I waited to give this review. To be sure. The first visit I got an infection in my big toe. I don't know if it was from unclean tools or him digging in my cuticles but it was big bright red full of puss, infected for weeks. And sensitive after that. Yesterday I gave them another shot. Requested new tools told them about the first visit. Both times I went they really weren't the nicest. They actually seem pretty miserable, and when I told the manager what happened it didn't really surprise him. Nor did he apologize or anything he just walked away. I even felt like they had alil frustration having to use new tools. I'll never go back here. And don't recommend you choose them about of all the options. My big toenail is crooked and the nail polish doesn't go all the way down. However that's not why they received 1 star. The nail tools were not sterilized in any way. She took a spray bottle and barely sprayed the tools she was using. She used the foot rasp on my heels. She then took the rasp and swished it through the water I had been soaking in, then stuck it back into her tool holder. I'm from California, tools are soaked in antiseptic and then scrubbed before moving on to the next customer. With all the blood borne pathogens out there it just makes sense to sterilize the tools. I was completely grossed out by this. Had I seen the way she "cleaned" her tools before moving on to the next customer, before she did my toes, I would've walked out. read more

Tried telling her how I wanted my nails and she pretty much told me to shut up and that she had been doing nails for 15 years and "knew what she was doing". Terrible service!! Worst nail salon I have been to in 20 years. All I wanted was the gel removed and 45 mins later it ended with an older woman (nail technician) grabbing my shoulder so I wouldn't leave and a male technician yelling FINE WE WILL SAND IT OFF IF YOU WANT. 30 min soak in acetone because the woman didn't want to take the time to file it off and the guy didn't care to come and finish what he started. This is my second visit there. The first one went OK but not a customer in sight. That made me wonder about the place. Went today for a refill and a pedi with a friend. Still no customer in sight. The lady asked if I wanted a new set. I said, "No, thanks, just a refill". She says, "You need new set". Again I said "No, I don't need a new set just a refill". She walked away. They had started the pedi so I stayed for that and swore I would never go back there. They were just fishing for more money. Went to another nail place and right away they gave me a refill without pushing for more than I asked for. Now they look great. The couple that works here is very rude to customers. On Mondays only the couple is here so don't even bother coming in on Mondays. Nails aren't too good, wouldn't recommend. Not a good salon to go to for facial waxing. It always seems as if they are in a hurry to get your money, therefore they end up doing a sketchy wax job. They don't do any plucking to clean up what the wax strips didn't initially pull, no trimming of the eyebrows to make them pretty, and you're always left with some wax on your face. read more

Got a shellac pedicure and manicure 5/12/2018. The gentleman was extremely rough and in a hurry. He chose to file my nails AFTER my shellac was already on. So the ends were already destroyed. When I left I noticed how horribly painted they were in the sun. I decided to say screw it because I did not want to go through the pain again of him removing the shellac. By Saturday evening the shellac was already peeling up. Tuesday night, I went to Top Nails across the street to have them fix it. Needless to say, they look 1000 times better. Never again will I use Star Nails. $96 wasted on a terrible job and then another $33 to fix it elsewhere.I am shocked this place is still in business. read more

I went in here about a month ago with one of my friends. I got a manicure and pedicure and she just got a pedicure. First of all the salon is very large and clean from what I could tell. They have a lot of pedicure chairs, but half as many manicure tables and there is no where to really sit if you have to wait. The pedicure chairs are really nice. While getting my pedicure everything was going good for me, but my poor friend was in excruciating pain because the man was grinding off the skin on her foot...her small toe was literally bleeding and it was raw for days after! I got solar nails as I always do and they weren't anything special, I'd say an average job (I've had worse, but I've also had better).. A few days later I noticed the paint on my two big toes had cracked, I was disappointed but just shrugged it off until I finally got tired of looking at them and decided I would remove the polish and redo them myself. I was horrified when I removed the polish because I realized not only was the paint cracked, but my actual nail was too! About 2/3 of the way down toward my nail bed the nail was split horizontally and it was starting to come off! My only guess as to how this happened was when the girl was using that sharp tool to clean along the side of my nail and she dug too deep. Sadly I have been having to wear band aids on both toes trying to keep the rest of my nail from being ripped off when I wear shoes until they can grow out. It is painful and annoying. I have never had this happen at any other salon. I will never be going back to this place again. read more

I am new to the area and look at the reviews for Star Nails. It was mixed but I decided to try it anyway. I arrived and was greeted by a nice women who assigned my basic manicure (deluxe package with hot wax, hot stones and a massage; I wanted a clear coat since my nails are short) to another attendant. He starts working on my nails and notice that this might be a not ideal situation. His nails were dirty (I could see dirty under his nails) and his hands felt dirty (rough). I should have known then. After a "OK" manicure, he rubbed salt scrub on arms and hands, applied a VERY HOT towel (I told him it was too hot....), and a minor hot rocks rub. I have had numerous manicures in Houston area and this by far was the worst! After only ONE coat of clear (other salons used undercoat, clear and a topcoat), he said he was done. As I paid, I told the owner (I think) that I was surprised that only one coat of clear was applied. He said it was their policy since it is a natural look. Offered to put another on but I declined because I did not have time. For $22, they put 1 coat on. I should have gotten a discount because if I would have chosen a color, I would have received 2 coats. NOT going back there AGAIN!!! read more

I went in to get my solar tips refilled. I was undecided whether to get them replaced or refilled. The nail tech asked me a lot of questions to get an idea of what I wanted. She was great at first, being gentle w/ the drill. She cut them shorter & filed them more round, which is what I wanted. She was almost done & about four other people came in & suddenly she couldn't get me out of there fast enough. Not happy about the price ($26 + tip) and the fact that I was rushed at the end.
