This pub is located in the heart of St. Just, right beside the town square. It is a St. Austell brewery pub, as are many in this small historic Cornish mining town. There is a full range of real ales, and I believe they offer small free samples for those unfamiliar with the local beverages. (That's right.. FREE BEER is offerred here!). HSD, High Speed Death (Hicks Special Draught to give it its real name) is something to try for those who are uninitiated!. This is still a true miners pub having relics of the now defunt industry splattered around. There are low roof and doors, and for the modern pub goer, a juke box. An interesting initiative....turn your mobile off because if it rings in the bar it will cost you a donation to the lifeboats (if they are still doing this). It is a great place for a quiet pint of outstanding ale. There is no food on sale here, so bring your own sandwiches! There is a pasty shop next doorb anyway! Local bus service to surrounding towns - no need to drink drive. read more
