The hotel is a little long in the the tooth but furnishing is reasonably new and rooms have been painted recently. The Hotel is located opposite the SS&A club so a short walk to reasonably priced food although the Hotel's own restaurant is where we started each day with a fantastic breakfast. Have been sitting here for almost an hour near the playground and noticed the erratic behaviour of…read morea young man walking between playground and staff so I asked about the situation and he's pointed out to now 3 seperate staff members over the course of the hour that the netting at the very tip top of the playground has had its zip ties fail leaving it wide open to children (All must be under 12) to fall from 12ft height with no barrier onto maybe an inch of foam rubber and not one of the bars on the way down fingers crossed. Accident waiting to happen. Lawsuit near guaranteed as no one from staff have even bothered to come check on his reports. Much love concerned citizens. FOLLOW UP EDIT Can't believe it! A good hour 30 later After still being ignored. He eventually walked himself behind the counter looking for zip ties to be told by one of the staff he first mentioned it to, that they're fully aware of the problem. To which he asked them for the zip ties and left his lunch to go fix the playground as no staff bothered to attend. Apparently he said he'd send them the invoice. This was something that could have been fixed, BUT, this isn't one persons problem, it's very bottom management (maintenance) and everyone above failing to do basic duties to protect our local children. Especially upper management. Even the kids got together with him and helped him fix it. U gotta do better!

However this choice was left to my mum who had stayed the previous week and loved it. It would be unfair of me to deduct stars when it is a Tudor period style with dark woods and low lighting as standard. Established the year I was born, with the room we stayed in looking like it may not have had much done to it since then. I'm ok with old world but freshening the carpet and curtains, installing new ac's, clearing the dangling cobwebs and some TLC in the bathroom would work wonders. I've been told the smaller rooms are more modern though. Now to my reasons for 4 stars. It's something different. A piece of England in the thick of Albury; close to shops and restaurants. Undercover parking that is locked at 1:30am for added security. In house Westminster Restaurant which is absolutely charming, open 7 days for breakfast and dinner. Room service for an additional fee of $3.50 with both the in-room and restaurant menus available. The food is basic but filling. My mum and I especially enjoyed the potato and bacon soup special, delicious! A pleasant courtyard beyond the restaurant with my first reaction being I'd love a Devonshire tea right now! Our room which was two levels/two bedrooms was undeniably spacious with a grand table of 8 seats and dark wood kitchenette. My mum received a sizeable per night discount for her return visit and it's hard to turn down a great bargain. Indoor pool on lower level. Reception is complete with an entire armoured suit and period weaponry on display. A family run business with helpful and friendly staff. I'd like to stay again in a different room to see how they bring modern to boutique style.
