Named by several as the Pub that Starts With T, the Tanswell's Commercial Hotel is a well-groomed bar and restaurant, with hotel facilities upstairs. The main drinking space isn't the biggest, but noticeably more lush than others you will find in Beechworth. Good variety of brews on tap - from Guinness to the loaves brews - and nice staff that often appear to be running on adrenaline all night. Strangest thing about this place is the restaurant menu. Amazing pieces available - caramalised onion tarts and beetroot salad is a winner - yet the pub staple, The Parma!, is no where to be seen. Not the worst thing to happen, the brews and other magicalness more than makes up for it.

Well, being stuck in Beechworth for three weeks didn't happen, though I did stay here for a night before catching the bus back. It was rather nice actually, and the staff were pretty helpful as well. The beds were quite comfortable, and the rooms delightful. Oh, and the the surrounds are quite lovely as well.

Yeah, I can't say that it was one of the greatest, and the beer selection is somewhat limited, which suspects that they are really only trying to appeal to those who happen to live in or near the area, and the older generation at that. I might fit into that generation, but then again I'm also a city bloke who writes Yelp reviews, so that probably says a lot about my tastes.

The Hibernian is a strange name for a pub. The name implies cold winters that are better spent sleeping off than living in. The pub though, with also includes dining area and live bands on weekends, shows no sign of sleep deprivation. The cramped drinking area spews on the path and seating under corrugated iron - a wonderful sound on a hot rainy night. The dining bistro stylings of the rest of it are a little on the tacky RSL side, but not so much that it gets in the way of the fine pub food and social interactivity of le people. Have the Parma!!!

OMG. Stayed in a nun's room on the second floor. Shared bathroom not the only issue. Ugly room I…read morecould handle. But the room contains a full size bed, 2 end tables and a towel rack on the door. No closet, no hangers no mirror, no lights except the one on the ceiling, no chair. Hard pillows unpleasant. Tried to pull the heavy drapes to cover the window and one came down. Haven't seen a single staff person since I checked in a day ago, so no one to easily call about putting the drape back up. On the other hand the location is nice. And the price is cheap.

The old prioriy is a stunning old building skirting the edge of Beechworth. An old convent /…read morechurch style building this is now predominately used for school camps and large groups. The building is definitely authentic and true to its roots, but is in serious need of sound proofing! I'd love this place if I was a kid, it's full of hidden passage ways, weird rooms and creaking noises. We were here for a wedding. There is a lovely garden surrounding the building for photos and the reception area did a very good job of catering for our crew. If I was to stay again, I'd bring earplugs, as the sound travels, but otherwise a gorgeous venue in the country.
