Neighbors Emergency Center - Bill #1. Excessive charges for a cut finger. It was not hanging off the bone either. Unbelievable.

My son went into the facility for a minor cut on his finger. He was in and out in 30 minutes…read more That's where the good news stops. He paid $993 at the facility for his treatment. My insurance company was charged over $5,500. Now my son has an additional bill for $934!! Total: $7,500! What the actual hell is going on? We tried to call their billing line and were told they can charge whatever they want since they are private. And they aren't willing to bring down the cost. When asked how much this would've cost if we had no insurance, they told us $400 total. But since I have insurance they'll try to gig my son for $1,800 in addition to the $5,500 paid by my insurer. I'm thinking about legal council and open to suggestions. I'm certainly filing separate complaints with the Texas Medical Board in the next 5 days on: 1) Neighbors Emergency Center 2) Lubbock Texas Emergency Center 3) Altus Exceptional Physician Group, and 4) Dr. John Lang. If you have any other suggestions on who I can file a complaint with, I'd love your input because they don't make it easy to tell who is a governing body about unethical situations like this. These people are dishonest. NOTE: I'm not sure if these excessive charges are fraudulent tor not. I may try to work with my insurance company to find out if any of them are. I attached both bills where there are two identically named charges and the same Description code. Who knows? I believe there are maximums to what a facility can charge for what was minimal medical care. This is Unbelievable. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.

I had two tests, one positive for the flu, and a chest x-ray by request. The charges were $600 for the testing, $1,000 for the x-ray, and $3,000 for an arbitrary and vague "emergency room" charge. I observed front desk staff tell another patient who asked for an estimate that "by law" they cannot disclose the cost of their medical services prior to treatment. This is incredibly shady, and Covenant is skirting the law very sneakily with these kinds of "emergency centers". The only reason I can justify even two stars is due to the relative quality of service. This is an Emergency Room and is run as such, just without all the bulk and excess of an actual hospital. I was treated generally well by everyone, though I did have a fair wait once I got into the room. Unless you really think you're at risk of death from your injuries, do NOT come here. Upper respiratory stuff, minor cuts, etc. I would implore you to find an actual urgent care facility in town.

I'm writing because I am extremely upset and honestly disturbed by the care my boyfriend received…read morein your ER on 3/27/26, specifically from a nurse named Emory. When he first arrived, he was asked about allergies and medications he has had adverse reactions to, and he clearly stated droperidol. The staff member even responded back to him about it, which makes it undeniable that this information was heard and acknowledged. Later, while he was already under significant stress being told he might have a bowel obstruction, with staff talking about trauma team involvement, emergency interventions, and an NG tube, he became understandably anxious and asked for something to help calm him down. Instead of being met with any level of reassurance or support, he was met with dismissiveness and visible judgment. Then the nurse came in and administered medication without saying a word about what it was. He had to ask what he was given, and only then was he told it was droperidol; the exact medication he had already stated he has a severe reaction to. He immediately began having an adverse reaction and was in clear distress, and no one took accountability, no one apologized, and no one made any effort to comfort or even acknowledge what had just happened. It took approximately an hour for him to receive anything to counteract the reaction, including Benadryl and Ativan, and during that time he was left to deal with it on his own. That delay, combined with the complete lack of urgency or concern, is unacceptable. Even after he was given medications to counteract the reaction, the lack of monitoring was extremely concerning. He was not being rounded on appropriately, and his respiratory rate on the monitor was ranging from 8-16. I understand that normal respiratory rate is typically 12-20, but sitting in the 8s without anyone coming to check on him is alarming. There was no sense of urgency, no follow-up, and no reassurance during a time when he clearly needed observation. Nurses are typically supposed to round on their patients AT LEAST every hour and nurse Emory failed to do that. On top of that, the overall handling of his case was alarming. Staff were speaking as if this was a life-or-death situation and discussing invasive interventions like an NG tube before even confirming a diagnosis. He ultimately did not have a bowel obstruction and was discharged, which makes it even more concerning how quickly things were escalated without clear justification or appropriate communication. Watching someone I love go through that was incredibly difficult. I am a registered nurse at a different hospital, and while I fully understand the stress and demands of working in healthcare, there is no excuse for what happened here. This was not just a lapse in bedside manner; it was negligent, dismissive, and at times outright rude behavior from the care team.

Then when they finally assign you to a room, they want to do a full workup and pick something new to treat you for - instead of the injury you came in for. If I could give no stars, I would. My daughter, 23 years old, came to this clinic on 12/10. She had…read morebeen vomiting since 12/5 and could not hold anything down. They swabbed her for Flu and Covid, both were negative. No labwork drawn, no fluids given; she was told it was viral. They gave her a shot of promethazine for the nausea. She drove herself to the clinic, and if you know anything about this medication, it will affect a person's cognitive abilities. She was told that she has 20 minutes to get home before it kicks in. She then left after 45 minutes of them getting their payment and her discharge instructions together. She still did not receive discharge instructions from them. She was high as a kite when she got home. Thank God she didn't kill herself or, God forbid, someone else. Fast forward to Friday, December 12. She had a seizure around 6AM, ambulance called, she went to the ER. She was severely dehydrated, had critically low sodium due to the severe dehydration (which caused the seizure), kidney failure (creatinine of 7.8), and liver failure (lab values in the 3,000 and 5,000 range). Obviously, she was admitted to the ICU. She ended up being intubated, having to have dialysis, amongst many other things. We are now on day 18 in the hospital and still no outlook for discharge. Would drawing labs and giving her fluids have prevented this? I'm not sure. But it sure would have been a critical step to try to prevent it. I called and talked to the assistant manager regarding the lack of care from her visit and the fact that she was given an injection of medication and allowed to drive. Got zero empathy, zero help; she was not aware of their policy about giving that medication. She didn't know what the policy was for the providers at their previous places of employment regarding the administration of this medication and how it differs from the current one. Common sense would tell anyone, if a medication affects a person's cognitive function, they should not be allowed to drive. PERIOD! If she would have had a wreck, this clinic would have been liable for that. Sorry for the long post but please, do not take your loved ones to this clinic. We got really close to losing our daughter at 23 years old. After speaking to them, they do not care. There was no concern or remorse for the situation. Find a provider that takes their job seriously and cares about patient's health and getting them better.
