My husband had a stroke on May 5. He was sent to Covenant for care. Since he's been there, he has had to wait and hour plus for basic things like water, having his urinal dumped, help with his food, etc. He cannot use his right side at all and he has no top teeth so he can't open things like seasoning or sauce packets on his own yet they keep ditching him with stuff like that then make him wait an hour or more for help so his food is cold by the time he gets to eat it. The food is horrible. I'm not sure who does their dietary planning but they clearly don't know what they're doing. My husband is diabetic yet his breakfasts have been largely carbs with a hint of protein. I can't wait for him to get out of there. I've never seen such a disaster in my life. read more

This place was amazing in the NICU BUT once we got to floor 6 it went to ! Lazy lazy floor a few were exceptional! NOT clean but that is the whole hospital inside and out! Cigarette butts everywhere and I mean everywhere trash everywhere. The room our friend was in the floor was filthy for 2-4 days so sticky we had to take water and sanitizer put on the floor and wipe up with paper towels. Outside the doors as you get off elevator was filthy and hadn't been cleaned in god knows when. The Bathrooms filthy throughout! The halls and waiting rooms flight NOT stocked that's for sure. Horrible horrible horrible. The care after ICU was awful. I'd go to UMC before here it's clean and the outside the grounds is highly clean. read more

My mother was brought here because of bad chest pain and shortness of breath. The women at the window were rude, and so was the security guard. (security guard was a heft white, woman). One skinny red head nuse came out after we'd been there for what felt like hours only to tell us that theyre going to do labs, and then she got annoyed because my dad asked if anyone is allowed to be with my mom. They brought her back out and she told us that they were rough, and extremely rude to her in the back. After a few more hours we asked about the labs and they said we'd find out whenever we were taken back to a room, since we'd been there for hours already, we asked how long that was going to be, to which they responded, "she'll get taken back, when she gets taken back." Finally we decided to leave, because an elderly woman who had been waiting asked when they were going to see her because she could no longer see, and the nurse who was out there talking to her told her "I don't know, I'm just here to do your vitals." and was very dismissive. We took my mom to UMC emergency room on 11011 Slide, and they were able to keep us updated and care for my mother without it being an issue. My dad had fallen 15 ft and fractured his C2 and wrist. He was transferred from Levelland ER to the Covenant Lubbock ER.....to the two nurses that initially treated him in the Lubbock ER. I hope your family never gets the same level of care as you have treated my dad. You could have easily explained to help why he could not have a sip of water, instead of treating him so badly, not listening to his concerns and denying him even a sip. It had been hours since he had any fluids!!! ANNNNND to the guy he waved down for help after basically been thrown on the bed leaving him in an uncomfortable position with a neck injury and you did not stop to assist or let him know you would find help.... YOU people are rude AF and are medical staff and should NEVER judge a person by his/her appearance. YOU ARE LUCKY I or any of my family members were not in the room when this took place!!! Shame on you!!! You CHOSE to be in the medical field to HELP people not judge or discriminate. But I am grateful there was a nurse that gave him a cup of water and we were allowed to soak a sponge so he could have a few drops of water. My pregnant wife and I arrive at 830am no one in the waiting room sweet! We get into a room at 8:45 even better! Our nurse Ian I think he was nice dude helped get an IV and meds to comfort her at 9:10 cool! 9:30 they take her to do an ultrasound for the baby don't even let her see the ultrasound or acknowledge that baby is fine she just gets a no sorry you can't see the dr will fill you in on everything I see here not cool! Left me and my wife worried that something was wrong with our baby! Come 10:30-11 I ask if she can eat or drink anything because she is thirsty and mouth and throat are dry nurse states they are just waiting on dr approval... 12 comes around still no work on a dr or any approval from anyone. Wife's meds wear off ask for more meds for pain or nausea nurse states they will ask the dr. 1 o'clock still no word from a dr wife is very nauseous still. 2 o'clock no word from dr or nurse can't find him or they will send him over when they see him. 3 - 4 still no word from dr or no sight of nurse my wife gets fed up and just wants to go to UMC ATP she gets dressed and ready to leave and forgets she still has a IV in and just tries to leave one of the other nurses threatens to call the police on us for leaving with the IV on my wife starts to undo bandages around the iv and the nurse tells her she can just rip it out herself!! Very unprofessional environment will not ever return! GO UMC OR JUST GO HOME!!! read more

Their ER sucks. it's super dirty in there and they are so damn rude. I went in lastnight and saw a woman (60's) throwing up so much, she tried to lay on the floor and they told her to get up so in an ugly tone. I understand there's rules but there's a correct way to talk to people ESPECIALLY SICK PEOPLE. and don't even think they helped her, they just let her be and looked at her stupid. COVENANT HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT....horrible experience. The exam room was filthy. Not just cluttered--filthy. The floors were not just dusty, but had clods of dirt and dried drops of fluids of questionable origin on them. The rolling table in the room had a layer of dust on all but the top, which was in need of a good wipe-.down to rid it of the streaks of whatever left on it. A vial of blood (not ours) was left on the computer keyboard from a former patient, the sink had residue of a dark colored liquid still in it. The cabinets were not stocked with supplies--more than one nurse commented that she could not find what she needed in any of the rooms. The door handles and walls were equally smudged with grime. Once in the little exam room we were basically ignored for approximately 6 hours. When the patient urgently needed to go to the restroom, it took over 20 minutes to get anyone to show up in the room, and when they did rather than allow the patient--who was ambulatory--to get up and go, they did a Pure-wick and bedpan. A doctor showed up to the room twice, for a few minutes each time. Nurses were at the nurses' station on their computers, but several times the call button did not produce a nurse or aide for at least 20 minutes. The elderly patient was kept on a gurney for over 10 hours before being admitted to a hospital room. The place was no more sanitary than a barn, medical aid and attention were more or less absent, and the patient was pretty much just parked there waiting "for a bed to become available" for hours and hours--all this after being transferred in to Lubbock from Plainview ER! read more

One of the covenant Lubbock, Texas hospitals is pushing that a little girl died from measles when she died with measles and what the underlying story may be is that the antibiotic cocktail they gave her was missing one fairly common broad spectrum antibiotic so the story is just a story. My father-in-law spent 3 nights in SICU - the staff was wonderful! Each nurse, nurse tech, or other care members were always courteous, compassionate, and helpful. They allowed one person to stay the night with him each night which was a huge relief to my mother-in-law. A few downsides: waiting room chairs were terribly uncomfortable; the room was hot (but nurses had small fans for family members); one shift charge nurse was not friendly. She was doing her job but could have been a little more kind in her approach instead of whitchzilla. Currently, FIL is in a private room in the Hope Tower. No complaints. There is plenty of room for family, huge TV and windows, LED screens on the ceiling, and just beautiful. Staff has been friendly, courteous, helpful, and kind it only to their patient but to family as well. We are thankful for the care and counsel we have received while here. I'd give negative stars if I could. ER wouldn't let me lay down on a gurney even though they had one. Said I had to sit in the chair even though I couldn't sit up. I kept falling out of the chair, and at one point, I had to lay on the floor. They didn't take me to the back until my friend called to check on me and found out that I was still in the waiting room and ripped them a new one for leaving me there. Even though I came in with my 2 inhalers and have a history of chronic bronchitis, not one person thought to put a stethoscope to my chest. Diagnosed with the flu but didn't get a damn thing for my bronchitis. EMTs gave me Tylenol and broke my fever over an hour before I left the waiting room. I'm now wondering what they actually did besides take test. I will never trust this hospital again. I could be in a fatal car wreck in their parking lot and I will still tell the EMTs to take me to EMC. read more

I have had multiple disappointing experiences at this facility and unfortunately they have proven to be consistently unhelpful and dismissive of patients in need of care. Most recently my boyfriend went in for severe dehydration, nausea, and lightheadedness. He had been unable to eat or drink all day and despite explaining his symptoms clearly he was denied IV fluids and given no real assistance. While he was actively throwing up for over three hours in their waiting room they still refused to offer any nausea medication or treatment to help stabilize him. Instead of showing concern, a staff member actually mocked him, calling saying that "he is probably just a lightweight" rather than addressing the fact that he was visibly unwell. Unfortunately this isn't the first time we've encountered issues here. On a previous visit they took his blood pressure and vitals then left him in the lobby for hours without any communication despite there being only two other people waiting. While sitting there we overheard the nurses openly talking about how they "couldn't help" the other two patients essentially saying they were just going to have to sit there without care. Hearing medical professionals speak so dismissively about the people they were supposed to be helping was incredibly unsettling. Healthcare providers should be thorough, compassionate, and committed to helping their patients. Instead this facility has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of professionalism, urgency, and basic medical care. If you are in need of real treatment I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. This facility does not prioritize patient well-being and no one should have to fight this hard just to receive basic care. read more

His blood pressure was high so we couldn't even ask questions. He immediately told us that we were OK we we could leave. We had to wait for the nurse to take to bring the which didn't take very long he's shouldn't even be there if he's not happy with his job to help people he's not really helping people when he's misdiagnosing them!!! I have been to covenant before myself and have had a great doctors. LONG BUT WORTH READING! I have gotten my calcium score (the amount of plaque you have in your heart arteries) at NorthStar Surgical Center. For many years I had a zero score which is great but wanted a second opinion since I don't eat well and probably not real healthy. I called to check the cost at Covenant Hospital, I knew it would probably be a little more. They said it would be $150. I paid a little over $100, maybe $120 at NorthStar. I was happy to pay 30 bucks to ease my mind on if my score was really zero. I had it done at Covenant in April 2023, and of course they made me pay the $150 before the procedure was done. That I understood. Then 3 months later I get a bill for $84. Knowing I paid at the time of service I called to find out what I was being billed for. They told me the $84 was for reading the scan. There is no charge at NorthStar Surgical Center. Reading the calcium score results is a straight forward process. This is evident from my previous calcium score tests that I have had run. The technicians were able to provide me the results immediately after the procedure. I am unsure the cost at NorthStar with everything going up but that additional cost for reading the scan is just that much more. With this I would recommend NorthStar Surgical Center. Easy parking is an additional plus! read more

Although my care is not the issue, their billing system is. Covenant's inept billing dept incorrectly billed my insurer, Humana. They billed Humana for a hospital service when I was never in the hospital, thereby gaining a premium copay. They also wrongly billed for a PCP visit copay, which there is none. Despite my pointing out the errors to Humana, Covenant bamboozled Humana into not accurately charging me the lesser copay. There is alleged medicare fraud here, but I don't know how to report it. This place was a nightmare to navigate for an MRI for my mother. I asked several people to help as my mother has a broken leg and had to walk. Staff member at registration was on her cell phone when i asked do i need to ring bell for service. Nobody knows the process and it is unrealistic to navigate with any type of disability or ailment. Covenant will screw you in the billing department. They don't send out statements on a regular basis, when we got one 2 months after the procedure we made a payment towards it but wasn't sure if insurance was done with their part. 3 months went by before we received another statement, made another payment on it as we can't just come up with $1000 on the spot. Got another bill saying they are turning us over to collection agency if it wasn't paid, came up with $500 to pay towards it. The next month we get a statement from a collection agency! how can they do that when weve been paying! I thought it was against the law if youre making payments. Worthless. I've been here a week. Scanned, tested, poked and prodded and everything has come back negative so far. The drugs I'm on haven't done anything for my symptoms and they won't release me. Most horrible hospital I have ever been in. Not enough staff. One nurse was handling 20 patients. Room was filthy, garbage not emptied. Aren't hospitals so be clean, especially with the pandemic! Nurses had an attitude and one told me to close the door and get back in bed. Very uninformative, incompetent and not caring about patients. They could care less. Talked about patients at the nursing station and even outside my door! They left off medicine for my nerve pain and I had to wait overnight in pain to get it. Do not go here at all. Very rude.
