Very bad experience, and once the concrete is poured and set, you are stuck with what you get. The owner subcontracts the work and is not on site while work is performed. He was called during the process because they ran out of concrete before finished and the next truck showed up two hours after when they abandoned the finishing work in another area. What we were left with was unprofessional. When I got past cigarette containers, lottery tickets, chicken bones, cans, bottles, and general trash they let fall where they were, nothing we asked for was done right. First, I stated the sidewalk must go under the gate centered, it is not and you must step on the grass on one side to enter. Second, they spit sunflower seeds and drug vegetation into the cement, leaving them sticking out as a permanant reminder of their poor work. The grains in the light brush finish were to match the current patio yet they brushed them another direction and did not even bother brushing part of a section. I had to tell them it was not done and when they did complete it they also attempted to re brush the other sections of patio. Now we have a criss cross pattern that is very rough with very bad edges. They did not bother to smooth out the cement around the drain pipe on the patio and it looks like someone just threw it there in a pile. One section of sidewalk that meets the old section of patio isn't sloped the same and water puddles in several places. When the sides were removed there were many sections what had visible gaps where concrete never reached. The curves are not smooth and there are pits already on top of sections. They also poured concrete right onto the vegetation and decorative rocks that they never moved. The grass was destroyed where they worked. Several sections of our fence have concrete permantly on them and they left lots of concrete chunks and nails in our yard. Tony, the owner, made lots of excuses and did not listen to the wife at all when she talked and spent more time cutting her off and over talking her. They claim to do subdivisions and roads and huge parking lots but my house is not a construction site and was treated like an empty abandoned lot. The guaranteed satisfaction claim is a lie. We are not satisfied and have been told it looks fine. We would never recommend Star Concrete. You would be better to hire a mason yourself that cares about his reputation and shows up to do the work. read more
