WARNING ABOUT STAR CHEVROLET If you're thinking about buying a car here or letting their service department touch your vehicle--READ THIS FIRST. We bought a vehicle with the extended warranty. Less than a year and a half later, the transmission went out. We brought it back in later on due to an engine noise. They claimed it had a misfire, needed new coil packs, and that the torque converter bolts were loose. We didn't even make it five miles down the road before realizing the same original noise we brought it in for was still there. We bring it back--they suddenly say it's a "blown head gasket." The SUV never showed one sign of a blown gasket, but they tore it apart anyway and billed the warranty for major repairs. We get it back, drive less than 100 miles, and the vehicle overheats and shuts off. Tow it back--they say "oh, it was just an air bubble, nothing's wrong." Noise still there. We email the manager weekly--ignored. Lied to about getting a loaner car. A month later, the SUV leaves my wife stranded. Tow it in again. Now they claim it needs another transmission, but the warranty won't cover it this time. So let's break it down:     *    They misdiagnosed multiple times.     *    They charged the warranty for work that wasn't needed.     *    They refused to provide proof of the head gasket failure.     *    They ignored calls, emails, and questions.     *    They lied about loaners, leaving us to pay for a rental.     *    Now we're stuck with the SAME problem and a car that's worse than before. My first attempt to buy a new vehicle here turned into a frustrating and misleading experience. I inquired online about a vehicle on 8/4/25, was told it was available on 8/5/25, and set an appointment for 8/6/25. The morning of the appointment, they said it had a recall and wouldn't be ready for a week. On 8/8/25, they said it was back. I set an appointment for 8/11/25 but sent my parents on 8/9/25 to look since I was working. While at the dealership (and with me on the phone), the salesperson first said the price was firm, then claimed it had just dropped $1,500--yet it was the same price I'd seen online on 8/4. When I pointed that out, they insisted I was wrong. They also denied the recall, changed their story multiple times, and even claimed I'd been looking at another vehicle--which was not true. This left me feeling gaslighted, disrespected, and misled. My family drove over an hour for nothing. This experience does not match the values Star Chevrolet claims to stand for. HORRIBLE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BEWARE! On July 18, 2022, I took my truck in for service because the low oil engine light and charging pad did not work. Tammy called me to advise me that the truck needed an oil change, and that was the cause of the low oil pressure engine light. I agreed to have them change the oil, and shortly after leaving the dealership, the low-oil pressure engine light came on again. So, problem one still needs to be resolved, but I paid for the oil change as advised. The second problem was the charging station for the phone, the dealership identified the charging station was not working and replaced it before I left the dealership, I checked the charging station, and it was still not working; at the dealership, we tried 3 different phones to no avail, their response to me was "it may need updates" we will call you when these are available, and you can bring it back in for service. I paid $511 for this service, and my charging station still does not work, and they refuse to refund me for repairs. I have left repeated calls for Gary Guinn (General Manager), Bobby Reagan (owner), and Tim Smith (Service Manager). The leaders of this dealership are not concerned about ethical business practices or proper repairs. I am requesting a full refund for the charging station. read more

Reluctantly leaving 2 stars. A little late to writing this review, but better late than never. It will be a bit long if you care to read because the details matter. I kept everything written down in a word document during all of this process, so it is all factual and dates are exact. The vehicle is a 2018 Ford Mustang. (Also not sure if it matters, but I am a 24 year old woman.) Summary - I bought my car in July, it was in and out of a shop for 4 months, stayed at shop for extended time (6 weeks) - Star manager never called back. I had just bought my car on July 8th, 2022 from Star Chevrolet. As soon as I brought it home my friend noticed a metal grinding noise. I brought it to a shop the very next day where I stayed there until they closed at 2pm, only to be told the rotors look a bit rough. 7/13-14th - I brought it to Gray-Daniels Ford in Flowood and paid the 180$ diagnostics fee and was told the rotors looked bad and that my exhaust was scraping. 7/19-20th - brought my car back to Ford because it still needed to be accurately diagnosed. Finally was told that the O2 sensor was crushed and needing to be replaced. 7/26-27th - I took off work on the 26th and drove 2 and a half hours back down to Star Chevrolet for them to replace my O2 sensor and the rotors. The reason I am leaving two stars instead of one is because they did so and let me use a rental car because I had to go back home and go to work the next day while they worked on my car, so I left work over and hour early and drove back down after work the next day to retrieve my car when it was done. August 3rd - I had to bring my car back to ford because the metal grinding noise was still happening. On the 9th - I brought it back to Ford because no one could figure out the noise or hear it, so I had to drive one of the technicians around and my roommate had to drive the foreman around to point the noise out to them. Finally I am told I need a new gear and pinion assembly and a new bearings assembly. A few days later we filed a claim and then a couple weeks later an inspector came out and approved the claim. (Mind you, I bought this car a month before having to use a warranty claim on it.) On August 31st I called Ford to tell them my car had starting misfiring as well and that my wrench light came on. Sept. 2nd - I brought it to Ford and it threw a catalytic converter code and was told it could be the cylinder head or the head gasket cover leaking. September 20-23rd - Finally brought it back to Ford and paid the 100$ fee to cover my part of the warranty, they replaced the assemblies and was also told there was apparently a tune left on it by a previous owner so I had them reset it. They told me that fixed the misfire. October 5th - I called Star to explain to the manager everything that has gone on thus far, because no one should have to go through then when buying a car that was sold to them as "reliable". He told me that to test these vehicles before they sell them that they drive it a bit and check the basics. And here starts the time of my car being in the shop for a month and a half. 10/10- I brought my car back to Ford because of the misfiring that started back up a week after he said it was 'fixed'. 10/11 - they ran pressure tests and the foreman said it was a cracked cylinder head and that he was going to write out the parts needing to be ordered. 10/12- I am called and told the car needs a tear down to see what the issue is to properly fix it. Also told that labor is 6 hours and that they would need permission from me or the place I bought it from because sometimes warranty places do not approve tear down claims. 10/13 - I called Star Chevrolet to speak to the manager and was transferred to voicemail, so I left one. I tried to call again about 45 minutes later and a guy took my name and number to give to the guy who sold me the car. I told Ford to go ahead and begin the tear down. I called Star again to speak with the manager, was told he was in with a customer so the woman got my name and number and reason for calling to give to him when he was done. 10/14 - I called Star as soon as they opened and was transferred to the managers phone again and had to leave another voicemail. I spoke with Ford after and they told me they could not file a warranty claim, again, because they were still doing the tear down. Around 1pm this day, Robert from Star Chevrolet calls me and told me Mr. Gary, the manager, said I've been calling so got Robert to call me to see what was going on. I informed him I still needed to speak with Mr. Gary and then I explained everything. I was not able to get a rental car from anywhere for any of this time. 10/26 - Told what the issue was and 10/28 filed warrenty. 11/7- claim sent to underwriter. 11/11 - parts in and pulled car in. 11/18 - finally got car back. No rental, no call back from Star manager ever, to this day, had to file two claims within 4 months of having just bought my vehicle. read more

I placed a 500.00 deposit on a vehicle. When the vehicle arrived it was not what I wanted. They said they had the one I wanted enroute. Then the price went up 2000 and offered me wholesale price for my 2023 loaded 4 wheel drive Silverado trail boss, because it has 19000 miles on it. Not to mention the repeated lies. So I took my truck in to star Chevrolet to have them look at a small Oil leak I had and to fix some things on My truck so I get a phone call the next day telling me that I need a new transmission and they had a price for me for a new transmission they told me it was gonna be $2200 to fix it oil pan leak Which is just a sealant no gasket it was gonna cost me $560 for it and then they try to over price on all their parts told me they were gonna be one price so I got a parts list and then I called the parts department and all the parts they told me were certain price were actually cheaper so it's cheaper for me to walk in and get them from their parts department then it is for them to go over and get it from there and then I filled my truck up with oil because I had a small oil leak because I stay on top Of my oil leak and one day later I go get my truck and there's no oil in it it is completely bone dry so they drain the oil in it to do the oil pan and then I say something to the manager about it and his response was I I don't know so I asked her for a contact to get a hold of the owner and he pretty much told me know so if any of y'all are trying to get some maintenance done now I wouldn't do it because I couldn't even put my parts back together Right in my truckAnd I'll bring the service manager out there and his technician says oh I just forgot to plug up the plugs and wires why would I want you to work on something that y'all can't even fix right just from doing a inspection on it buying a vehicle through that might be good but I wouldn't trust her service department read more

I bought a used Nissan Pathfinder, within 2 months the computer went out. The price was 2,600 to replace. Since 2015, I have driven 33, 000 miles . Now it has jumped timing between 1, and 3 , which in return bent the valves. To replace it with a rebuild engine , the cost is 3,400. Thank you Star Chevrolet, all elderly senior citizens needs to bypass this dealship. read more

Bought a used 2011 Cadillac SRX from Star. My salesman was very easy going, no pressure tactics. I have used the service department for maintenance and the dealership did a 50/50 split when I realized, within warranty, I had a tire that was going flat and could not be fixed. Cadillacs have expensive tires, so this was a big help! I have had the car over a year with no serious issues and it runs great! Very Satisfied! read more

This dealership is the best place I've ever purchased a car. Here's why: they don't do all that awful stuff that most dealerships do. For example, there is none of the game playing around pricing. They have extremely competitive prices listed on the internet. When you ask about the price of each car, they will tell you (accurately) what it is listed for on the internet, then will immediately offer you their further discount and bottom line price, which is always well below blue book-so truly a fair and competitive price so you don't have to haggle. They also don't make you do that awful song and dance where you offer a price, then they go to consult the financing manager, leaving you to wait at their desk forever...there was absolutely none of that. The salespeople know what they can sell it for and will quickly tell you that price. You can look it up online (they helped me connect my laptop to their free internet so I could compare prices) and I saw that their price was excellent-the best in 500 miles. Then, I was quickly taken to the finance manager's office to complete the paperwork. There were no surprises in the finance manager's office. The price agreed upon was on the paperwork, there were no extra fees, and the total cost of the paperwork was a mere $250 rather than the $500-800 that other dealerships charge. They did not pressure me to buy an additional warranty or any other extras. They did not pressure me to finance with them since I already had my financing arranged. When I was looking at their used cars, they let me test drive every car I was interested in, and did not pressure me towards any particular choice. They let me test drive the cars alone, without a salesman in the car. As a single woman, I was treated with respect and did not feel manipulated, condescended, or sexualized in any way. Just pure professionalism and courtesy. They did not pressure me to buy that day or play any games whatsoever. This dealership has restored my faith in humanity and car buying-that it can be an honest, no pressure, reasonable transaction, completed quickly and without games or BS. The wife and I are in the market for a used truck and found what we were looking for at star,Ford 350 Super Duty Duley, We in our price range looked good for a 2002.We didn't want to spend the 50k or more for a new one. Took the truck for a test drive ,less than 10 miles, found it to be in good condition for its age. Came back to dealer said it was a go we agreed on a price and made the deal. The drivers seat had a large ware spot from normal usage I didn't mind but they said they already had it lined up to fix. My salesman,Paul, was kind pleasant to talk to and never overbearing. He never said my most hated phrase in the history of time,,,'What can I do to make this your new truck'. We agreed to take the truck and He said they would call when the shop had the material for the seat a full service was done on the truck. When we were leaving he said if anything happend to call and he would make it right. It was delivered to our home,approx 20 miles one way,I had a few places to go so I took the truck. Well not more than 40 miles into the trip it overheated and shut down.I called they came out with a tow truck and a 2015 Chevy Silverado 4x4 . Paul said we would fix it and give me a call when done and to drive the rental like it was mine. Monday comes,I call Paul he informed me that the truck had a cracked head and was a new 7.3 ltr Powerstroke diesel would run ME $6000.00 I about hit the floor. I asked him if I was stuck with the truck. He said absolutely not! we could either buy the new engine or back away and they would buy back the truck. We decided on the later. This, by far, was the best ANY car dealer, cell phone dealer or any other retail dealer has treated me EVER!! For the second time me and my husband was told that we are approved for a truck and as it turns out we was not. The first time it was with a thousand dollars down. But we could not do that at the time, now they called back and said if we would come back in they would work it out to no money down. Maggie is the one that called us. When we drive from Gulfport and get there she not even there and the guy tells us he has no idea why she would do that because it would take two thousand to get us in a truck. Well damn it I want me a truck she said she would work it out!! Just saying don't buy in to the lies they have no idea what each other is doing.. No stars for them..
