MidCity New And Used Tires

The owner, Sam, is frequently present, which is a testament to their dedication. I am thrilled they have established their business in Mid City and wouldn't dream of seeking alternative service providers.

I want to be clear that I am leaving this review based on an interaction my wife and I had simply…read morewhile walking past this business -- not as a customer. On the morning of April 19th we were visiting town and walking by MidCity New And Used Tires on our way to a nearby coffee shop. I'm a tall, brown-skinned man with locs, and my wife is mixed with curly hair. As we approached the shop, we noticed three men sitting outside. One of them, who I later had an issue with, was about 5'9", had a short haircut with a low fade, and noticeable neck tattoos. The others were a heavier-set man with curly hair and a thinner man with longer curly hair. As we walked past, the man with the low fade noticed us and began speaking in Spanish. At first, he was sitting on top of a truck, but as he started talking, he stood up. He spoke quickly -- too fast for me to catch what he said initially -- but it seemed like he was testing whether we understood Spanish. When we looked at him without responding, he seemed to think it was safe to continue. Speaking louder now and in a sing-song tone, he said something along the lines of "Señora...something something...culo" -- although he pronounced it more like "cuelo." Whether it was slang or a mispronunciation, the meaning was clear: he was making an inappropriate comment about my wife's body, directly in front of me. The reason I'm describing all three men is because, as prior military, my wife and I were trained to observe and assess our surroundings carefully. In situations like this, one individual's disrespect endangers everyone present if no one steps in to correct it. While my main issue is with the individual who spoke, I hold the other two accountable for staying silent. And while part of me was ready to confront them -- all of them -- I chose not to. That's not who I want to be. My wife is pregnant, and protecting her and our family was my priority, not reacting to ignorance. I'm posting this review to inform the owner of what happened, and to warn others who might consider doing business here. If an employee feels bold enough to disrespect a woman and her husband to their faces -- simply because he assumed we wouldn't understand -- it raises serious concerns about their integrity and what other predatory behavior he might be capable of, especially toward women seeking service here alone.

Came in to Cris tire for the second time because I had another nail in my tire post Francine (love…read moreyou New Orleans!) It was not surprising to find my tires needed to be replaced, but I ended up getting two new tires and an alignment for a very fair cash price. Pedro gave me an honest assessment of what I needed to have done without pressuring me into a purchase I wasn't ready or able to make. As a woman, there are lots of places that would try to take advantage with scare tactics and assuming you don't know anything about cars, but that's not the vibe here. Everyone is very friendly and I will absolutely be back for my back tires, and the inevitable next flat I get from driving on these crazy LA streets.

In the world of auto tires, brands range from Premium all the way down to Just Okay. Do your…read morehomework before accepting the upstart Chinese budget brands like Delinte sold here, for whom reviews are few and far between. Cris Tire charging $165+ per tire (model DH2) that you can order from Amazon for $72 (shipped!) is a bit questionable to begin with. But failing to offer to change out 6-year old TPMS modules as part of the new tire service puts a question mark squarely on this shop's back. Consumers should be warned that the batteries inside tire pressure sensors don't last forever, and just creates another headache (read: money-making opportunity for tire shops) when they go bad. I'm docking Cris an additional star in this review for issuing quotes (for a set of 4 tires) that vary day to day, like it did in our case. There's something suspicious about a place of business that runs the quote up $100 and then agrees to honor the original quote "only if you pay in cash." What?? Nice as they are here, cannot recommend, sorry. I'll stick with my established installers and leave this neighborhood favorite to older folks who don't know the difference. I want to deal with personnel who understand the trade well enough not to give bogus answers to honest questions.

Once again, I'm a satisfied customer. I brought my car here two days ago at about 7 am when they…read moreopened because the undercarriage started dragging again. They had fixed it for no charge last year but with all of the potholes in this city it was inevitably going to come off again since my car sits very low. I had them just remove the whole thing since it was damaged and also I was able to get an oil change with synthetic oil which included a free tire rotation. They called me and gave me an update and advised me of how much longer they would need to keep my car in order to fix everything. I had my car back in about three hours as promised and I left with more money than I thought I would. :) The waiting area is clean with a large TV, coffee, and magazines to help you pass the time. Fortunately, I have a friend who lives nearby so I went to visit. I will definitely come back the next time I need an oil change, brakes, tires, or anything.

This service station, though, disappointed me for quite a few reasons. I came in to get a tire replaced. Came in around 9:15am and was told my specific tire was not in stock but they could get it from the warehouse. I was told by the salesman that the tire would be there in less than 30 mins. I go to Lowe's across the street to kill some time. I return around 10am and my truck is still not even in the garage bay. There are only two other customer cars at this time. Long story short I had to wait till 11:55am before my tire arrived. A taxi driver brought the tire from the warehouse as I saw the driver bring it inside myself. I wasn't upset about the waiting but I didn't appreciate some of the other employees not being truthful about why it's taking so long for my tire to come from the warehouse on Airline Dr. I was told by two other employees that it was on the way when we all knew that they just didn't have anyone to bring the tire until they got that taxi driver to do so. Just tell me from the beginning it's going to be a few hours to get the tire in and I would wait all day for it if need be. I'm patient. Once my tire arrived it was put on and I was out the door in less than 20 mins. Overall I still love Goodyears but just don't like dishonesty. So probably won't come back here. They offered me a free oil change for the inconvenience of waiting 3 hrs for a 30 min job. I think I'll pass on the free oil change there.

[Edited to add one more star. After all. It was a perfect experience of its kind]…read more Can't believe I'm writing a review about a tire place. How nuts is that? Ok. The reason I'm writing this is that I have a tiny car. Hi. My name is Bobby and I have a tiny car. (Hi Bobby!) Ok. I have a tiny car. And the tires on it are the same as old VW bug tires. Little things. Well...after about 150k miles, I decided there was just enough tread to make it somewhere to get some more. But I'm a cheap-o and didn't feel like spending 400 bucks on new ones special ordered and shipped from Pluto (Or wherever they make tires...Uranus?..hehe). So I tried for used ones. Wow are those hard to find. And those I did find were still really expensive. Now my whole car is valued at 360 bucks so I can't really abide paying that much for the tires. So after checking about 20 places all over the area, I was getting ready to turn around and go back to a place that had a pair of expensive tires and just deal with it. I saw this place as I was looking for a turn-around. Just thought I'd give it a try. Not only did they have the tires, they had used ones. They installed the tires (looked new) and balanced them all in about 30 minutes. Total bill? About 75 dollars. Seriously cool guys.
