The only reason I ventured out this far to this Staples was because the Amazon returns were down at the one on Northern Boulevard. I decided to just drive to the next nearest one which was this location - but the parking situation here is really difficult to navigate. It's situated on a street that's surrounded by a lot of one way streets - plus one side of the parking lot is totally blocked off, so that was unfortunate. Once I walked in I noticed the for returns was incredibly long - I guess everyone was here trying to do the same thing and make returns after the holidays. Eventually after 20 minutes or so of waiting a few more people jumped behind the return line to help out, and it moved a bit faster. I came in to return a package, and one of the workers told me "they'd take care of it later" even though I asked them before to take the package only to find out later that the package was never properly returned. No updates, no tracking, no receipt, nothing. I got a call a month later that my package didn't return. They simply didn't do their job, obvious inadequacy. On a previous visit, I was told they didn't offer return services, even though they clearly work with UPS. It's obvious the staff here have no idea what they're doing and need better training. If you're expecting reliable service or even basic competence, do not go to this location. They'll waste your time and possibly lose your packages too. read more

I walked inside and was shocked at how there were no shopping carts available inside. All the carts were being used by the employees. They sold all these sanitizers, but didn't have any for the customers to use when entering the store. It should be added. Everything seemed to be well organized and aisles were clean, but there were a bunch of empty shelves. Wonder why?? I hope that they restock during the week. The Sales staff in this store are very helpful. I always get what I need since the store has a good inventory and the isles are neat. The parking lot is a huge advantage. I use the copy center once in a while and I wish they would clean the machines. They are dirty. Price per page is hefty at 32 cents per page but the paper quality is excellent. I wish you could opt for a lower quality copier paper and get a lower price. There is some room for a work table which would be a huge help. The store has a good inventory and is relatively clean except for the copy center machines. read more

I am the type of person who wants to be left alone when I am shopping, because a lot of the times, I am just looking around. The worst type of shopping experience you can have is if someone follows you around and keeps trying to help you but they do not do that here. When I know what I am looking for, I normally can just find it on my own. If I need help I will definitely ask for it. This is mainly why I like shopping here. I have bought office furniture, printers and other items from here. They have a great selection of office chairs that fit everyone's budget. They normally have everything in stock if not I just get my order delivered. I find it difficult trying to order any type of furniture online because I really want to see the item in person to make sure it fits my needs. Once in a while if I am lucky, prices in store maybe a bit cheaper than online. When I am ready to make a purchase I just go to the front and there is always someone there to help me. Staples provided me with excellent customer service, especially Ashley Marby. I sent nine boxes via the United Postal Service (UPS) but only two boxes arrived because, pursuant to UPS policy, they were damaged. I was not able to go to the physical store to collect the two returned boxes because I was out of town. I called the store and eventually spoke with supervisor, Ashley Mabry, who instilled confidence in me that she would handle my two boxes. She was forthright with me, explaining that the boxes were not in great shape, sent me photos to show me the damage, and offered to repack, reship the boxes to me, and send me the tracking numbers. Ms. Mabry promised me that she would ship the boxes and sent me tracking numbers. Not only was Ms. Mabry effective as resolving the issue, she was forthright, and represented Staples well, taking ownership and responsibility for the packages, because, in her words, I brought them to Staples for shipping. Horrendous experience in the shipping department. DO NOT ship any packages through Staples, period. And don't ship any packages here unless you want to get in a screaming match with the MANAGER of the shipping center. Staff does not know what options are available and cannot explain what services are available on different types of shipping. Says they provide insurance on USPS packages but USPS has no record of insurance. Manager promised to call us back after we came back to the store to inquire about packages, we never heard from her. Corporate is dealing with our issues now. The shipping center at this store is a JOKE. It's Sunday. I have a road trip to Canada on Monday. I need my mapquest map printed. That's all. Just one measly little task. Shouldn't be to hard right? Well first the computers are down due to the internet connection not working. However, I can email my task and they will print it for me. Huh. Don't you need internet connection for email? Nevertheless, I thought Great! A solution! So I emailed the link to staff member and she said :((( we are not allowed to open links here. So I said, well can I just get on and plug in the addresses on MapQuest to the get the map.....please? Well, Maybe not please at this point. No, sorry was her response. This staples is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you're going to get! They are useless. Always have been and apparently nothing has changed. Worst customer experience I've ever encountered in a staples. Not once was I approached or asked if I needed help - even when I was searching through the aisles wandering to find a specific item. Employees were on the phone, talking to their friends?? And even sitting down. I've worked retail before and I know how draining and boring it can be but at least look professional and be pleasant. I was scared to even walk through an aisle because there were employees in the way. They saw me and didn't even have the decency to apologize and make space. I'm not one to call a business out but for some reason this experienced irked me enough that I voluntarily took time out of my day to write a review. The counter girls who make the photo copies were nice and helpful. The bathroom (at least the men's bathroom) looked like a bomb went off in it. An explosion of male body hair, feces stained toilet paper and anger. Management needs to have a serious talk with the staff about proper cleaning procedures. This easily constitutes an OSHA violation. I'm not saying, that their business license should be pulled, but someone needs to contact corporate headquarters about this. This place their printing section is so slow, I gave a printing job to one of their staff, I was one of the first person to come and that was a Saturday and they told me rudely oh this will not be done until Monday or Sunday, it was ok for me but how it was delivered was not nice. I think as a customer staff should be nice to you and try to help you out so you keep coming back. I don't like this Staples branch especially that staff that was rude to me. I came here the day before school to get some last minute supplies. There was a lot of staff on the floor helping everyone find what they needed, and all the staff was so polite! Everything I needed was in stock and available for a reasonable price. The cashiers kept the line moving as quickly as possible. My cashier helped me sign up for a Staples rewards card, which I will definitely need in the future. Whenever I've been here, I have always been greeted by someone at the door, and at least one person does ask if I need help finding anything. It's not the largest or flashiest Staples and sometimes I wish it held more, but I've always been able to find something that meets my needs here - and it is convenient for me, being the only Staples in the Woodside neighborhood - and that convenience makes up for it. I went yesterday to have 20 pictures reproduced - I wasn't ready, just had a bunch of picture albums with me, and had to spend time at the counter picking pics out and figuring out how many I wanted. I wrote everything down...and within an hour, I had my pics printed and the right number of each of them too! Staples is a print and copy center, not a photo lab, so I trimmed my own pics to avoid extra fees and save time...but they have everything there for you to do what you want. Also, while I was trying to figure out pictures, I overheard the staff constantly talking to each other helping each other prioritize and get to customers' requests. They were NOT dawdling, though I guess if you're from fast-paced NYC you always appreciate seeing people run around while working, ha. Guys, you can't show up with zero idea of what you want, and if you have an important school project, no matter where you go for print jobs you have to account for hang ups. As for print jobs here (versus my photos), I can't attest, though from my experience planning events, I know some people don't understand how long it takes to actually get to a finished print product. read more

Horrible horrible horrible customer service. The printing service department is incompetent and work with no effort. The girl with the purple hair gives terrible customer service. Doesn't know why things are the way they are. The computers weren't even working to print your own personal things. The manager was called over and he didn't even know how to resolve the problem or even knew that computers were down. This is not the first time that we have experienced this terrible customer service at this location. I don't know how they are even still in business. Bad location difficult to access ,and upon leaving one needs to deal with Queens Bld ,which is one of the most unpleasant roads to be on. The staff is helpful ,but the products are low grade and the general merchandise offerings are scarce ,and below par (some items seem to belong to a 99c store) Not going back there. read more

The printing services here are awful. There were so many errors with my print job, and the staff was less than competent. Maybe fine for xeroxes or something, but not recommended if you need something printed correctly. Next time I will be taking my business to a professional print shop. Lesson learned. read more

This Staples location is very unprofessional. Store was supposed to open at 10am. Waited in my car until 10:30am and still no one showed up. There were over 6 customers standing outside waiting in the cold. Company must change its policies, which should include some sort of contingency plan if the primary employee is unable to make it in time to open. Very Unacceptable! read more

I call up to see if the credit cards are working in the store because there were times i would go in and they would not be working. So i call up to ask n they put me on hold. 10 minutes later, someone else picks up he asks "can i help you" when the other lady put me on hold to see if the credit cards machine works. So i told him my situation and he said he is busy and hangs up. Lol thats ridiculous how they treat customers. The staff will walk by you without acknowledging you, deliberately ignore you as you stand at a counter waiting for assistance, they are incredibly slow at ringing customers up, their movements are similar to patients heavily medicated with thorazine. Just remember, the 30 minutes of your life you spend trying to deal with these people you can never get back. read more

But customer service is horrible, due to operating with bare minimum employees, It is clear that this is being done by management to save a buck, at the customers expence. This review is specifically for the Verizon Wireless section of the store. I had no idea that it existed within the store! Amir and Brittney who helped me upgrade my phone were patient, funny, knowledgeable and prompt. They helped me understand what was covered in my new plan, and gave me absolutely no trouble accessing my plan (I'm on a family plan and my family is all in another state - other Verizon stores have not been very understanding about that). I am so pleased that this store within a store exists. As for the Staples itself, the staff is always helpful and I find everything to be clean and well run. I have always thought this place had horrible customer service but you kind of just deal with it since it's a convenient location and within walking distance. But today was the day I actually had to jump on yelp to write this review. The store was dead when I walked in and I left a document at the self serve station. I had to deliver the documents that I had scanned and copied so I was unable to go back to Staples at that time. I called them to hold the document for me literally 2 minutes after I left. After holding for 8 minutes to talk to a store representative I was immediately put on hold again to speak with a copy center representative. I Waited on hold for over 15 minutes before deciding I was going to call back. After calling back and waiting on the line for over 10 minutes a lady answered the phone and asked who I was waiting for. I had explained the situation and she put me on hold to go check the self serve machines. She came back on the phone less then 2 minutes later to tell me that the document wasn't there. I had explained to her that I had just left and how that could be possible. She seemed like she was uninterested and in a rush and told me " there are so many people by the copy center, someone probably took it" After hanging up i decided to go back to the copy center myself only to find the document exactly where I explained it would be. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Worst customer service ever! I was on hold for a half an hour to see if a package I ordered came in. When they finally found it I came to the store to pick it up but it was broken which they didn't care to inform me. Now I ordered the item again (poor judgement on my part to try again) and supposedly they have next day delivery so when I got an email that my package arrived I skipped calling and went straight to the store only to find out that it was a delayed email from the first package. I liked staples in the sense that they have many locations in Queens and Manhattan. What surprised me is that the customer service can be so different if you visit a different store. I've been a regular customer to the two staples store located in midtown Manhattan on 3rd Ave and I'll give them 4 or even 5 stars. But for this one on Queens Blvd, you have to see how terrible it is. The store manager, white, above 40 years old, is an ass. He never thanks you for your business and if unfortunately he picks you up at check-out, you can almost read what he has in mind when you look into his blue eyes. Giving you a hard time scanning your reward card, slow, no need to say, they're always so slow. When I go to other staples store I feel great, people welcomes you when you just enter. Now this one they don't even care when you wait in line for over 5 mins and the store manager treats regular customers like criminal. Probably too much work for him I guess. It's a very big store and provides good parking lot. But when you shop there several time you can even feel that there is a problem with their management. And the store manager there is one of those mentality "I don't care". Check the map find another different store near you if you can. read more
