Ran in here for an Amazon return. This turned out to be a brilliant decision, as the UPS store had a line from the door to around the corner. There was NO line at Staples, and the return desk is on the first floor. Easy-peasy! No box or label needed, either. Just the QR code. You also get a coupon, although I didn't have time to browse. Not sure if they have 3.5 mm audio cables, which I do need. Anyway, even though the UPS store is closer, Staples was MUCH faster. Bonus: more exercise walking from the apt. Definitely recommend for returns, maybe printer paper too. Think their prices are fair. HP ink is a giant ripoff everywhere. read more

They stole my Bloomingdales return, and I had a delivery from a designer shoe store waiting for pickup and it showed someone picked it up who wasn't me. One week later and I'm back visiting another Staples location, store #653. I agree with another Yelper as the entrance was confusing to navigate. At first sight I did not know if the first floor was the retail, but there is a elevator which lead customers to the retail store. While I was sharing the elevator ride with a woman and her child, the child could not withhold her exuberance and euphoria who boisterously loud stated "I love Staples! I like shopping at Staples, YEAH!! We're going to shop in Staples, OH!" Unfortunately, the mother decided to put the kibosh with her daughter with "okay, OKAY don't get too excited now!!" Woman, let your daughter have her little enjoyment as it is the little moments in life shared that are remembered. What is wrong to exhibit excitement for a store while shopping? I remembered my childhood of shopping in a local non-corporate, Mom and Pop stationery store with my beloved family member (just the two of us) for a Chinese writing character book with Chinese calligraphy brush, which the purchase was not for me, but I accompanied and was very exuberant to observe and mesmerized of the brushes in the glass display. I always have a predication for stationery stores as I am enamored with paper, and particularly journals. I have been a loyal customer of Staples for five decades as I remember shopping for school supplies as a child including through college years in mid-August preparing for the new academic school year. I specifically remember the 1996 Staples "Back To School" TV ad using the song "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" where a father of two children is elated dancing showing school supplies to his two morose disposition children. My purpose for this visit was to obtain one ream of copier paper $7.99 and one package of clear badge holders $10.99. My employer do not provide clear badge holders as I had previously used all of my stock. Clear plastic badge holders' lifeline is short as my daily grind usage shortens the time for normal wear and tear. I prefer badge holders with a zipper closure for securing the ID card in place when in usage. This Staples' price aligns to 2025 era as expected. Customer service is average as I was walking adrift for check-out, but I was suddenly directed by a sales associate. There was a line at the cashier, but moved moderately and I was armed with my Staples rewards card. This Staples location is very accessible via 4, 5, 6 trains at 86th Street/ Lexington Avenue which is one measly block in the direct vicinity. read more

I have been coming to this Staples for over a decade. The staff has always been friendly. Most recently, I got a printed poster board doje for an event and it was seamless. The copy & print staff took his time and even called me to make sure that the image printed to my satisfaction. I also recently used a free passport picture and though a bit rushed due to the promotion, I received exceptional service. No doubt my go to Staples! read more

I recently purchased business cards from Staples. The product was poor: The cards had streaking on one side. When I visited the store to return the cards, the clerk did not know how to process the return and told me that I should I contact her customer service dept. by phone. I had to insist that the store manager be brought into the situation in order to obtain the refund. Even then, the store manager was impolite about this. It also reflects very poorly on Staples that it made no effort to determine what was the cause of the poor printing quality in the business cards and to try to remedy the problem. Went in today to get ink for my printer. I have a HP printer at home and it used 63 ink. Around 10ish it's not very busy so the line was very short. When I checked online it was priced at 21.89 but in the store it was 23.99. ASK FOR PRICE MATCH. Cashier was very helpful and priced matched without any hassle. I'm not in this neighborhood very often, so this is not my "regular" Staples. I did stop in last week and found a few items, one of which clearly had a sale tag on the entire display. However, when I went to the register to pay, the price was different. Long story short, the manager refused to sell this item for the price shown because it was in the computer system at a different price than the signage showed. Skinny short-ish white guy with brown hair was the manager of this store. Disappointing that he couldn't just give me the item for the $3 difference that was marked in plain English. I purchased the same thing at officedepot.com and it arrived in 2 days. To Staples - fix your signage and fix this crappy manager that doesn't know how to take care of his customers. read more

The staffer in the Printing department barely acknowledged my presence, then told me my order was impossible to fill. When I explained what I wanted again, she told me to email the image I wanted enlarged, which I did immediately, adding contact info to call if there were any problems. When I called the next day to see if it was ready, she denied receiving the email. I sent it again and called several hours later. A different staffer told me my original email had arrived the previous day, but that no one had worked on the order. She said if I still wanted it yet today, I'd have to pay for Express service. I've encountered clueless Printing staffers at other Staples locations too, which suggests that they aren't being trained well, even in basic customer service. Somehow, FedEx is able to fill similar orders in minutes while I wait, without two days of runaround and rudeness. read more

This place is an absolute disaster. I waited over 45 minutes to get a package scanned for shipping. The people behind the counter have absolutely no sense of urgency and clearly do not know what they are doing. There were 3 people "working" behind the counter, however only 1 person was actually doing their job. They other 2 people were chatting to one another, on their phone, and sipping a beverage... paying absolutely no mind to the 10-person line building up. This place needs some serious help. read more

Staples has everything you need for your home office. They recycle ink jet cartridges. You get a discount on your next purchase. You can also take them your old electronic equipment. Computers, lap tops etc. They get rid of it for you. If you like a good pen, pencil, sticky note, paper clip, tablet, envelope, or any other handy supply, this is your go to place. Hint: They have the same stuff at Deals and prices are much less. When I was working I spent more time shopping here. Not any more. I've got enough junk left over from my career to last the rest of my life! I do use the fax every great now and then. It has been a couple years. Most everything can be handled on your computer now. If you need big duplicating, printing jobs they can take care of it. Basically they can meet all your business and office needs! Sometimes they are short staffed. When I do need help they are always very nice. The cashiers are very nice also. I've never felt bad vibes in this store. read more

For my four hundred & sixty-ninth review I woke up this morning determined to not think about sex... *dream sequence bubble floats over girl in the office's head* "four hundred and 69696969696969696." Okay I FAILED!!! Sixty Nine times I failed! I even have eight hundred and sixty-nine 69696969696 friends!!! Dear god... and at the end of the day all I needed was that damn little red button so that instead of thinking about sex (thanks to all the Yelpers who have been posting about positions and such on the talk threads lately) all I would have to do is hit that damn little red button and all of my problems would just go away! So there I was standing in staples looking for over-sized post-it notes to hang on my wall for brainstorming sessions. Searching for a new computer bag for my Macbook, and hoping to find some highlighters, candy and water to get me through the year and I realized how pathetic this location was in comparison with the other locations I have been to outside of the city. I guess that's just what happens when you leave Suburbia... oh well. For a store in the city it had most of what I was looking for (button included) but it was still a little too small. Oh well guess this place will have to do. After my exhausting trip to Staples I was just happy to go home, kick back and enjoy my 24 new bottles of water. Gotta love bulk! Does nearly every store have different hours on a holiday? Of course. What does a sensible person do before visiting a store on a holiday? Call the store. So, if the store's outgoing message says it's open until 6:00pm today, it should not be closed at 5:17pm. Furthermore, when a prospective customer asks a salesperson near the door why they are closed before 6, the door should not be shut and locked in said customer's face without any response. And then there are the THREE different posts of the store hours (the "normal pre-covid-19" hours etched into the door, the "covid-19" hours, and the "Memorial Day" hours)--yet NONE of the posted hours matched the phone message. Ridiculously incompetent management. Won't be back. read more

Has to be one of the strangest Staples layouts I have ever seen. You have to walk into this narrow passageway area on lower level to get to the elevator to take you upstairs to where the main store is. One escalator too. If there is a fire or riot we are all doomed in this store! Closest office supply store to where I live on the UES. It is a Staples. They pretty much carry everything you need from stationary, to copiers, to pens, to...well, you get the point. Went in to print out a shipping label. Staff is very rude and arrogant at the printing station. When i asked for assistance, the girl working at the printing station replied that she does not want tto help me, when I complained out loud how ridiculous it was, she said quote " you are ridiculous"...For the first time in my life, I asked to speak to a manager. Never got to print out my lable, thus I have to reschedule the pickup ect... I truly hope, the management will do something about this incident!!! read more

Never a good experience in this store. I keep an open mind if I HAVE to go in, but yesterday at the check-out where I needed to buy printer ink, which is behind the counter, turned into an insulting hassle. The check-out young woman refused to show me both versions of the black ink cartridge since I had "not pointed to the right one". My particular printer has a black cartridge 1" wide & one 1/2" wide, both coming in the same size boxes. She informed me that "I had the one I needed", rolled her eyes, huffed & sighed. Why me? Finding Staples was a trick. I was still thinking "Texas" where every business is sprawled out in it's expansiveness. I had to do a quick about-face with my thinking and remember there is hardly room for a mouse here so a quick jaunt, a blink, and I've missed such a large establishment as Staples. There it was in all it's glory shooting up in the sky:} In NYC EVERYTHING is built UP:} There is NO ROOM to build out. Me and another lady went into the pet store next door thinking we had gone into Staples. Lol...NOT! When we got into Staples we immediately had to walk up (2) flights of escalator steps because the escalator steps were broken:{ Welcome to NYC:} A person hardly needs a gym pass in NYC because everything is up and down steps, like the subway. When I got up stairs I looked around and found a pleasant young man, Luis and he helped me mail my package. I had a pleasant experience here, BUT ALL I did was mail a MacBook Pro adapter to my mother. I was disappointed that they did not have ANY OTHER FLAT RATE CONTAINERS other than a flat 12.5 X 9" cardboard letter holder? I was able to fit the adapter in and used A LOT OF TAPE to secure it!. I then went looking around the store and found a cute square magnet that says "I Love NYC" which is true:} There's NO PLACE like NYC for better and for worse:} I got (2) magnets because I sent one to my dad as well thru mom (of course:} Luckily Luis pointed out my return subway depot. The subway station that I came on was on the opposite street of the one the I was going back on....but not so fast...Portia's meanders everywhere she goes:} So off to the Green Cafe I went. Bad store. Parker pen refills are never on rack. Have to get salesperson to climb ladder. This time it wasn't there either. And then decided to buy a desk calculator. The Staples brand didn't indicate what type of battery it takes. Salesman had no idea, but said I had to buy first to find out. Then he said it is probably a coin battery. I asked how much they were. He said it is over there if I needed to know. I said I didn't want to lose my place in line. He was quick to point out I was on the wrong line. Funny because the last time I was in the store they told me the line started on the side I was currently on. I purchased the calculator and opened it up right there. Couldn't find where the battery was. The salesman looked, couldn't find it either, then said I had to take the whole thing apart to find out what type of battery it was. I don't have time for idiots so I asked to process the return. Of course it took forever. Slow cash register, etc. Avoid this place. read more

Ugh this staples is so frustrating. I've never had to purchase anything here, so maybe their stock services are a bit different. But, every time I come in to print something, there is always an issue. Printers are broken or not accepting cards, long lines, rude customer service agents, slow machines, too many customers and not enough workers. I feel I've seen it all here. I keep going back thinking that was just a bad experience and the next time will be better. Unfortunately that's not the case. I don't think I'll return to this location any more. read more

I needed to buy an office chair for my desk for hybrid working from home and was in a pinch because my old office chair broke. The Staples customer service men and women were available to assist me, showed me the models they had and helped me try them out. When I found one that I liked, they had it in stock, and Jonathan offered to assemble the chair on the spot. (I paid Staples $14 for the assembly which was a bargain considering I'm terrible at building furniture). Jonathan took down my phone number and said he would call me when it was completed In 25 minutes while I had pastries down the block at Le Pain Quotidien. He wrapped it up in plastic so it would be protected while I wheeled it down my street to my apartment five blocks away. It is back to school time... Excuses. I think there is box of excuses next to the phone and the team member simply pick one, anyone. I called corporate customer service while I waited on the other line. They answered the phone after 6 minutes. They were not helpful. They could not answer my questions. Off to Kinkos! I have never written a review before, but after my experience with the copy center at staples at this location, I have never been more disappointed. First, they did not have my order done on time. Then, when it was done, it was done incorrectly. Next, I asked for a refund and was told they couldn't process it because their "system was down." I was told to come in at a later time to be issued my refund. I went in a few days later and was told that I needed to wait 30 minutes for a manager to come in the store to issue a refund. Finally, someone assisted me and then told me that the refund was issued a week ago, it had not. I had to show them my bank account history to prove to them it had not been issued before they would call someone who could help. I'm still Waiting here for my refund and I'm doubtful it will come. It is safe to say that I will NEVER return to this staples EVER again. I have to say I love Staples and I'm so upset with my experience at this location because it has made me dislike this store more than any other store. Worst customer service of my life. read more

The manager at this location, Michael, is the rudest person I have ever encountered. When I was there dropping my phone off, I first witnessed him telling an elderly lady to get out of "his" store and to not return. When I returned to pick up my phone, which they could not fix because of their lack of attention to detail, (My phone being an iPhone 6s and not a 6) he rudely told me as well that this was "his" store, as if he owns Staples itself, and that I wasn't welcome back. As a business owner in the same neighborhood, I found the way he speaks to customers appalling and can't believe that a chain store the size of Staples has allowed someone this rude and nasty to climb their corporate ladder as far as he has. read more

To my amazement, I got a call less than 30 minutes later telling me I could pick up my order that night. (The best part -- I didn't even pay for RUSH service. The store is a store. I can't believe people bother to rate a store. It's the same everywhere you go. What is a big deal is the Print Center. Horrible. Agree with Pia. It used to maybe be good years back, but now manager Chris (who no longer works there btw) and staff are very, very rude. CAUTION: DO NOT pay for same-day anything at this store. You will never get it on the same day. And the quality will almost always be sub-par (scratches, running colors). If you keep bothering them maybe you'll get it sometime after 6 pm the next day for a same day service, but usually it takes DAYS for Same Day... if they put in your order at all. Tip: If you need a Copy & Print job done right or on time-ish AVOID. Tip 2: If you must do Staples, don't pay extra for same day. Select delivery option and it will be delivered in the time it takes this Staples to complete your order, plus you'll get the discount. There is a Staples with nicer and actually helpful staff in the 60's. Also plenty of local print places who will match Staple's price and do a good and on-time job. read more

As everyone has noted, the layout at this store is very strange. Inside the entrance, I saw just a "down" escalator and wondered how to get to the second floor (the first floor is minuscule and was very crowded with a long line of people waiting for copying services). It turns out that there are two elevators, but they're in the back and not readily visible. The sales clerk who helped me find something and the cashier were both very pleasant, but the selection appeared to be very limited and that's due to the tiny size of the store. read more

Usualy i go there for the copy and print center,which is usualy available and u dont need to wait on a line. the priner worls fine color and Black and White and never been to a situation where its out of paper (which happens a lot in other staples locations) on the 2nd floor u can find anything u like for an office equipment etc... nice :) read more
