I decided to walk in to Stanton Optical and schedule an appointment for an eye exam and I scheduled the exam for the day of the grand opening. Everything was new and a little shaky but all the employees were nice and helpful. However, the optometrist was awful. To my understanding he is not the permanent optometrist for this location. I received a new prescription and the optometrist recommended different kind of contacts then what I've used previously for a long time. The contacts did not feel comfortable and I was told that I had to buy either a 6 month or 12 month. I used to be able to buy a box at a time and refused to buy a large supply especially since the contacts were new and I wanted to try them out before I bought a 6 month supply. I found out that the contacts they had me try on were not the ones stated in my prescription because they did not have them on site. However, they failed to tell me this. I ended up buying a 3 month supply since they offered me a deal and probably because they didn't want me to take my service elsewhere. The gentleman who helped me pick out a new pair of glasses was helpful. I expected things to be a little shaky since it was a grand opening but I would not recommend going there for an eye exam with that optometrist. After wearing my new glasses for a couple days I realized that the right lens was blurry. I ended up going back in for a reexamination to get my prescription changed in both my glasses and contacts. My fiancé had an appointment and had a terrible experience at this place as well. I strongly suggest you stay away from this place. They have no idea what they're doing read more

Poor communication on multiple fronts. During my first visit, I loved it! The staff was quick, friendly, and helpful. This visit was rough. 3 different employees expressed skepticism over my choice to wear daily instead of monthly contacts. I had to explain 3 separate times that I chose dailies because I've never had a good experience with monthlies. During my exam, the doctor indicated that he was changing my prescription for both eyes but on my printed prescription sheet, the change was not reflected for my glasses, only the contacts. Believing there was a mistake, I turned around and went back to the store (which I did instead of calling because I couldn't get through to a non-automated answer on the phone). When I expressed my concerns about the disparity between what the doctor said and what was on my prescription, the staff dismissively explained my error (which I now understand), but was unreceptive to my feedback about how confusing it was to be told one thing and to see another. To be fair, they were quick and did get me in and out. Overall, it just felt uncomfortable and I felt very dismissed throughout the experience. read more

Paid for an eye exam and ordered some lenses right after. I had the lenses custom fit to a pair of frames I already own. I paid in cash. The lenses were supposed to come in in 2 weeks. A month later and no sign of them. I call the store 2 months later and they say the frames weren't good and had to be reordered. Here we are 4 months later with Stanton optical saying they have no record of me placing an order for lenses. They have record of my eye exam and buying other frames, but nothing for the $200 lenses I owned. When I called to resolve, I spoke to an outsourced telephone operator who had to call the store to access files. Ridiculous and unprofessional. Maybe if I can actually speak to a real store representative I'll get my lenses. This place doesn't keep records and I'm out $200 because they messed up a reorder. Pathetic read more

I called in to ask if they accepted my insurance and a man answered the phone and said the address to this location and said that this location I was attempting to go to accepted my insurance. He then insisted on forcing me to make an appointment over the phone so I did. On the day of the appointment I drove the 20 minutes to Stanton Optical and was told that they did not take my insurance and that I clearly called into a call center and was connected to a different store which is just not true. He then told me I could pay out of pocket for the exam if I still wanted to do it. It was completely unacceptable so I left. I highly recommend never going to this place. It's a scam and they just hope you'll be okay not using your vision insurance benefits that you pay for and paying them out of pocket. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Great place. I was able to get my daughter two pair of prescription glasses in under an hour for less than I normally pay for one pair. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! read more

This place is amazing. Went in for a contact exam and was thoroughly pleased with the service. The staff here is experienced and friendly. Most of all they are willing to work with you financially. Jeff, the manager, took his time to make sure I was comfortable with the glasses I chose and helped me stay in my budget. This is my go to place for my glasses from now on. Love it. read more

I was nervous based on other reviews. My sister had an appointment here at the Tallahassee office yesterday and I did today. The staff was very nice, helpful and professional. Dr Mann was professional and made sure I understood what was going on. I'm diabetic, recently diagnosed. I had the diabetic retinal scan done recommended by my family doctor. This office does not charge extra for that test. Other places such as America's Best charges and extra $20 for that. Gio helped me with my glasses and he was awesome. Helps you get the best value you can. The selection of frames that fall under the $59.95 plan is extremely limited but they have quite a large selection outside of that starting as low as $29.95. All glasses are BOGO free so if you select glasses that aren't in the discount group you just pay for those frames on top of the $59.95. So there's quite a selection to choose from and still keep it affordable. For those who come in and get upset because it was more than "$60ish" you do have to pay extra for ANY additions to your lenses. Ex: anti-glare, scratch resistance, etc. They also had my prescription available so I'm walking out with my glasses same day. 2 pairs of glasses, one from the discount section, one was not, $89 for the pair I picked. So I paid for the $59.95 plus $89 for the frames I chose. I added anti-glare and scratch resistant. My total cost about $225. If I had picked a 2nd pair of frames from the discount plan I would have paid around $135-$140 with my add ons. Hope this helps. If you expect to come in and pay no more than $59.95 plus tax. Stick to the frames with the blue sticker, those are the ones available under that promotion and don't add anything to your lenses. If they had a bigger selection of frames in the promotion I would have given 5 stars. read more

I've gotten two pairs of eye glasses from Stanton and my husband has gotten a pair as well. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I feel like they really care about you getting the right glasses. They explain the differences in the frames and take the time to answer all your questions. They have a ton of glasses and they aren't just your basic frames. I've already seen two additional pairs there that I just can't live without. Great place and outstanding service. read more

Had 2 appointments last Saturday, for my son and I. Mine was at 3:15 and my son's was supposed to be at 3:30. When we arrived we were greeted friendly by Mike and led back to the Dr's area. We paid for my son's eye exam and discussed what type of glasses we were looking for. We went here on a recommendation and for the simple fact that they offer the 2 for $69 glasses. There are signs everywhere about this deal and when I said something Mike led me over to the kid's glasses. It's my fault that I didn't double check that these were part of the 2 for $69 deal but I wrongly assumed that these were included. So my son picks out glasses and we wait...and wait for our turn to have eye exams. She was very friendly as was the DR. After I'm done, I go look at glasses while we wait for my son's appointment. And the waiting begins again..finally at about 3:50ish he is called. I go back with him and sign the form that says NOT to dilate my son's eyes. After his exam, I go over and sit with Mike to discuss the glasses. All of a sudden he is pulling out numbers like $485 for me and $385 for my son's glasses. I was shocked because I was under the impression that I had picked out the 2 for $69 as this is the store's big promotion. The problem was that Mike talked the entire time about what he did this past weekend, his traveling and the fact that he used to work at Sports Authority. I knew more about his personal life than I did the glasses that I was buying. I kept trying to get him back on task by saying "Okay so the glasses will be how much?". So after realizing that even though I had asked about the 2 for $69 I was pretty much mislead I still wanted to make sure that at least my son got the glasses he wanted. He kept lowering the price but at this point myself and especially my husband was overly frustrated, seeing that we had now been here for almost 2 hours. While I was trying to deal with the glasses issue, the Dr. wanted to see my son again. His prescription had changed quite a bit and he needed to be sure it was correct. The Dr. told my husband that he would like to dilate my son's eyes and as my husband is saying that he needs to talk to me since I had said I didn't want that to happen, the Dr. put the dilating drops in my son's eyes. This is ILLEGAL!! I had signed the form stating not to do this. So at this point we both just want to get out of there. My husband takes the children to the car and I ask for the prescriptions. Mike goes and gets the manager who tries to get me to buy them there by lowering the price even more. I just want to leave and if we decide to buy them, I will call them back. I get the prescriptions and we leave. We go to the optical department at Walmart to order my son's glasses. It's at this point we find out that the name on BOTH of the prescriptions are wrong. So of course we can't finish ordering the glasses. My husband calls Stanton, talks to a female and requests that they fax a corrected copy. He gets the "I will see what I can do but the fax hasn't been working properly." line and we wait. And we wait. After about 10 minutes my husband drives back across town to get it and finds the female that he talked to on the phone, closing out her drawer having never tried to fax it. He stands there for about 5 minutes until Mike walks over. My husband gets a printed out copy of both prescriptions. We think everything is okay, until the next day. We get a call from Walmart and it seems that Stanton has provided 2 different prescription levels for my son. The handwritten one that we originally had was wrong and Walmart had already ordered the glasses. Thankfully, they were able to correct Stanton Optical's failure Stanton is a joke and a dangerous place to go. They dilated my son's eyes against my consent, provided the wrong prescription and couldn't even get our last name right. Oh and their 2 for $69 deal? There are about 10 pairs total in the entire store and they are the gaudiest things ever! Do NOT go here!! NOT RECOMMENDED!! UPDATE: I was told that to rectify this situation that I would receive a full refund within 10-14 days. It's now been almost a month and I have yet to receive a refund and am only getting "We are sending it out this week." Truly awful customer service on all levels. read more

Please note that I did not see the doctor. He may be wonderful, but I left when interactions with the support staff told me that I would not be getting the care I was looking for. I went to schedule a contact lens exam a couple of days ago, and I wanted to give my insurance information then. She said she had trouble getting into the portal, and I left. When I came back for my appointment today, this issue had not been resolved. I also expressed when scheduling that I wanted to try something I had seen and gave the necessary information to contact them. It was given a cursory glance and I was told she would speak with the doctor. When I arrived today, that hadn't been done either. If there had been a medical reason, I would have deferred. But it was just a gross lack of effort. read more

I will not be returning to this store. My husband and I went there the day before my appointment to check out frames. I already have two pairs of glasses, however, I left one by accident at my Parents home so I was just going to get another spare pair. Since Stanton is not with my insurance I was paying out of pocket. We decided since we could get two pairs for one price (not the ones on sale of course), he'd get a pair and I'd get a pair. On yesterday I went to have my eye exam. I did not know that it would be with a virtual doctor as I could have gone to a location with my insurance for $10 with an in-person optometrist. I did not feel the exam was a thorough as an in office eye exam. Following the exam, I went to the desk to ask if the person had put the glasses that my husband I and selected away. He indicated that he would place them in the top drawer. The glasses were no where to be found. I looked all over the store for them. Needless to say, I was out of $45 as I found no other glasses that I liked. read more

I tried Staton because it was time for an exam, I was out of Contacts and America's Best didn't have appointments until August. They got me in quick for an appointment. The wait was ridiculous!!! My appointment was at 1pm. I didn't leave until almost 5pm. The date of my appointment was July 1st. my trial pair of contacts haven't gotten here yet. Oh......no they are. NOBODY has contacted me to let me know I can pick them up. I'm not too happy with their customer service. I won't be going back for the free exam next year! read more

I went to the Tallahassee, FL location to get new lenses for existing semi-rimmed frames. The new lenses themselves were of good quality, yet the fit to the frame was poor with large gaps. This causes cracks in the corners, the points of contact between frame and lens, because the stress from the retaining line (similar to nylon fishing line) is not distributed along continuous contact with the frame like it should be. If you would not be content with an amateurish job on your glasses I recommend you go elsewhere. read more

Awful. I was a previous customer of Stanton optical. when I got my first contact eye exam / contacts the salesman convinced me to get a package they offer where you pay more on your first exam and you get 2 FREE exams , valid for the next two years. I thought that sounded great, so I paid for it. Called today to make my appointment and told them I had this package and they assured me it was still valid and I wouldn't have to pay anything. I get there, tell the person when I checked in that I was here for my free exam, she said , ok great! Yeah I see it in your file. Waited for over 45 minutes even though I scheduled an appointment, get the 2 minute eye exam, put in my free trial pair of contacts, then the lady at the desk said okay so the exam today is $89.99.. I responded , no.. it's just a free exam because I purchased the package last time I came in. She told me, no you only get it free if you purchase a supply of contacts. Explained to her thats not at all what I was told today over the phone or when I got here OR when I purchased the deal in the first place (so keep in mind that by this point I already spoke to THREE different people who confirmed today would be no cost) because otherwise I wouldn't have paid for it! Then she told me if I didn't want to pay for it she would have to see me take out the free trial contacts and throw them away (my response to that was that I had just thrown away the contacts I came in with and I wouldn't be able to see to drive home ) and she wouldn't release my prescription to me. I was livid. Finally just bought contacts , even though there prices are high just so I could be done with Stanton optical. read more

I went to Stanton Optical to get a prescription update and my eyes checked. I wasn't asked for my insurance until after my exam happened and turns out it wasn't acceptable by the company. I then had to pay out of pocket for my exam and new glasses, but decided to not buy contacts since the price was already at half a grand. It would have been more but one representative helped me a little and took off about $200, which would have made it near $700. I then used the prescription that was given to me to buy contacts from 1-800-contacts and when the contacts arrived, it seemed that my prescription was off for the shape I should have bought for one eye. The contacts I had bought for astigmatism do not fit properly in my eye and when I called the store to talk to a representative, I was immediately dismissed and all of the blame was placed on 1-800-contacts. I knew this couldn't be it because the contacts I had received were an exact match to the prescription given to me on the day of my eye exam. After going back and forth with the store representative, I had decided that my time was being wasted because yes, I was offered to come back and get another exam but it would be at my expense. What kind of service is that? To be immediately dismissed and then have to pay for the mistake of the company AGAIN! I am a college student who already had trouble coming back from the original expense and purchasing the contacts on top of that. Never going back to any Stanton Optical location, definitely not this one. read more

Jeff was super helpful and friendly. Jeff helped me find the right pair of frames and got me a great deal on two pair. The eye exam was very thorough and was not an extra cost. I would definitely recommend Stanton for finding the right pair of glasses. read more

lost me. I went in because my glasses frames were a little bent and I thought I would get another pair. I asked a girl if they could straighten them (which most places will do whether or not you bought them from that company as a courtesy). She came back and said they couldn't do anything. So, having bought them from Stanton Optical, I was surprised and mentioned that I had purchased the glasses at that locaion. She looked me up in her system and said, "that was way back in 2019," which surprised me because 2019 was LAST YEAR and handed me the glasses. She obviously wasn't interested in helping me. I left the store, kind of stunned. I decided to give it another try and after a couple of minutes went back inside and I went to the back, not yelling or making a scene and wanted to get my perscription, (which was still valid from way back in 2019) and a guy in scrubs gave it to me. I relayed most of my story and basically he said that they are understaffed , etc. It was obvious that was true, but originally I was coming in to fix my glasses AND work on getting another pair ... and I now won't be back. He never even tried to keep my business when I asked for my perscription. Again, I wasn't making a scene or anything. I could get it if he wanted to get me out of the store, but it wasn't like that. He was polite and just gave it to me. on this it says i am in San Francisco .. not sure why, I live in Tallahassee and haven't been to San Fran. read more

I have never left a yelp review for any business, but was so disappointed and frustrated with the lack of care I have received at this store. My first exam was so rushed I was not surprised that I had to come back for a follow up exam. I think I spent 2 to 3 minutes with the doctor that first time, he was so rushed and spastic I wondered if he was on something. He corrected the mistake on my second visit and told me he would order some trial contacts. I had to call back through the national hotline number to ask if my trial pair of contacts had come in yet, yes it had but no one had contacted me. I ended up buying a year supply of contacts. However, I can't even wear them because I can't see with them. I have only opened one of eleven pairs of contacts but I simply can't see with them. I was unable to return them or get a refund because I waited longer than 30 days. I spent over $300 for the exam and contacts and all I got out of it was a glasses prescription. I ended up ordering glasses online (Zenni optical) because it saved me a lot of money ($100-200!) ... For those who are curious, I have been wearing contacts for 10 years, so I know what a new prescription should feel like. I did have a trial pair of contacts that seemed ok, but for whatever reason, the year supply box just doesn't work. I am not so much frustrated with this, but with the fact that after I spent all that money, the store refuses to help me out. I'm a teacher assistant at a Pre K and can't afford to make another appointment or buy more contacts, so it's just glasses for another year or two. read more

A friend of mine told me of the "deal" that Stanton was having that 2 pairs for $69.00 and free exam, well I went to check the store out and see if I could take advantage of the sale. The glasses in that "sale" category were really ugly and unappealing. I was greeted with the usual practiced enthusiasm which was OK. The good part of the visit was dealing with Mike, one of the Sales personnel. He was very pleasant, engaging and helpful, and I made an appointment. They had another so called deal where you buy a regular pair at cost and get the second pair free. Well that was a fallacy and not the deal, as I spent just about the same amount of money on both pairs of glasses. I saw the Dr, did my exam and tests, paid by check and left. The ran my check twice, first mistake. I had to go to my bank to see what was up. I called Stanton and they refuted my claim. I pressed the issue because I was looking down at my account and saw that they took the same amount twice and the same check number staring back at me. After a second call to them they checked and found their mistake. They did call me back to say how the mistake was made, and offered some sort of apology. The money was not returned to my account for a little over a week. The glasses took a long time to come too, the better part of three weeks, they called, I went in and tried the glasses. They were nice but one pair did not have the "transition" that I paid for and had to return it, It took another two weeks and this Stanton didn't call. i had to go in to see if it was there. The other thing is the case you get the glasses in, it was awful, cheap plastic with a piece of orange felt material covering parts of the case. I argued about it being so cheap and they agreed, apologized and said that it is what the company provided. I did not get a lens cleaning cloth that 8Hour Glass Optical provides. Now after spending over $600.00 for 2 pairs of glasses I should at least get a lens cleaning cloth and cleaning solution. I went back to ask for this and was told that they have lens cleaning kits for sale for $7+, but they are on back order. Damn!!! What a way to do business. The Dr. to be honest did a great job, the staff was cordial, Mike was great. I would never go back. Stanton, you have to provide a full service, give the clients at least 1 set of lens kit after their first glasses and then sell if they need another. You should do better, you have a good thing going. Improve your practices. read more

Don't waste your time waiting at Stanton optical. Appointments don't mean anything to these people. Mike was very friendly to get us to the waiting area which is where we spent the majority of our visit. They realized they forgot about us after the room was cleared and we continued to sit. Recently I shopped for new eyeglasses, visiting most major local dealers. I had the good fortune of finally deciding on a pair of frames at Shanton Optical. From the moment I entered the store, I was greeted warmly, although at first visit, I was "just looking," Eventually (after several visits) Michael assisted me in the most kind and patient manner. If you like the old "bait and switch" sales technique, you will love Stanton Optical.
