My family member is wheelchair bound. Hasn't walked for over 40 years. They told my family member they couldn't "accommodate" them after my family called to check if they could be seen and said the business yes they could. THEY MADE THEM GET OUT OF THEIR WHEELCHAIR AND TRANSFER UNSAFELY INTO THE OPTICAL CHAIR!!!!! One of the staff members, a woman in the back was absolutely rude and when they tried to educate them that it was illegal to not be handicapped accessible and accommodating, the staff member threatened to call the police on them!!! The lady at the front desk was rude, I paid 326$ just for them not to tell me ANYTHING about my eyes. Then she told me the wrong information and said you'll have to schedule an appointment with the dr and said we can't get you to 20/20 vision but can get me to 20/30, whatever that means. Never elaborated on my eyesight or anything. I did my eye exam with a woman on a screen. Don't go here please go to an actual eye dr. I was there for an eye exam so I could get glasses and get my permit, these ppl don't know what they're doing. Still have no clue what the problem is with my eyes all they pointed out which I already knew was my right eye is weaker than the left. My right eye is so bad I failed the eye test at the dmv, I couldn't see the whole last column so I know there is a problem with it. Not great. I was surprised that the doctor was not on site. The exam was via video. The employees seemed less than interested in answering questions and never called to let me know my glasses were ready. We were told our glasses would be ready in 15 days and my husband's took over a month and again. They never called to tell him they were ready. When they did come in they were not the progressive lenses that he had ordered. I don't think we will go back. read more

Never go to Stanton optical, this place is a joke. I spent way too much on glasses for them to mess them up I've been wearing glasses for 30 years!!! And I couldn't see far away at all driving home was scary I've never bought a pair of glasses and been told give it a week for your eyes to adjust that's bs. I've always bought from LensCrafters and that's who my money will continue to go too. I asked for rolled and polished too and they didn't do that the experience of buying glasses from them was something out of a nightmare. My prescription is so high it's like negative 12 and they couldn't get it right they wrote me like negative 10 and negative 9 the optometrist they couldn't even find he was outback smoking pot i could smell it on him. Freaking huge waste of time I went with them because they could get me in for an eye exam that day and I regret going to them. I should have waited cuz now I'm even more terrified of the experience than I was. I'm Blind very freakin blind and can't drive without my glasses I also ride a motorcycle and would not have felt safe with these glasses. I took them back and they couldn't even give me my money back they said they had to send me a corporate check. 0 stars wouldn't buy glasses from here if they were the last place on earth I'd just be blind. Oh and one last thing the manager proceeded to gaslight the crap out of me when I picked them up I know glasses I've been wearing them since I was 2 years old and I'm 32. My eye exam prescription was INCORRECTLY- transcribed they reversed the left and right eye prescription - had glasses made with another vendor when they came in I wondered why I could not see through them, Contacted customer support they reached out to the Manager of Woodruff road ( no names yet they need to respond giving them a chance) who told me to send them back to the company that made them they will probably re-do for zero cost-WRONG! and they refuse to pay for the remake - is this the way to do business? Oh and what about the error in transcribing the prescription - I have the documentation. Went in for a basic eye exam for contacts/glasses, which was supposed to cost $119...not only did it seem like they had double and triple booked the same times slots(I was there for almost an hour and half), but they also did not inform me that someone the preliminary tests they were running were going to cost me more money, never mentioned it ONCE. At one point they asked me to come back in to redo the dry eye test. I informed them that I do not have issues with dry eyes and don't see why they need to run that test on me, the girl replied with it "it's just one of the tests that we run" but again never said it was going to cost me more money. my appointment started at 10:15am and I did get out of there until 11:30am because they clearly had overbooked people. THEN when I went to pay they pressured me about buying contacts from them and I explained that I only wanted to get the eye exam and did not want to buy anything there. They then asked me to "hold on one moment", stepped away to a different counter and proceeded to whisper for almost five minutes while I was still waiting to be able to pay. When they FINALLY told me the cost and said $217, I was so caught off guard and frazzled I didn't know what to do. I had to ask them to print out my receipt and when I got to my car I looked at the breakdown of everything and they charged me for three different preliminary tests that I again DID NOT ASK FOR and also was NOT informed they would cost me more money. I do not recommend coming here to have your eyes checked, just don't! read more

TLDR; Don't come here for an eye exam, doctor is rude, gives out incorrect prescriptions & when you ask for a refund they'll offer you a "re-examination" by the same doctor that fucked up your exam in the first place I came in early February for an exam & it was by far the worst. The experience, the doctor, the workers!!! There was only one woman who was helpful & bless her heart! I wish I remembered her name, but all I can say is that she has blonde hair I scheduled my exam in advance & on the day of my exam I got a call, saying that the doctor was over booked & because of this I wasn't able to be seen? So I called to re-schedule & I forget the name of the woman who was able to squeeze me in, as I had a flight to catch that week. I get to Stanton & it's quite empty.I was told to remove my contacts & wait to be tested (this was my first time doing an eye exam without getting my eyes dilated) which im ok with, bc thats the part that I dread the most about eye visits. When it is time for me to see the doctor.... My exam was over within 5-10 minutes..... I didn't question it because this was my first time here, so I just assumed that they just move alot faster(sidenote, I was the doctors LAST patient) I tried to question the doctor about a few things with my vision & he immediately shut it down in a demeaning tone. I felt very uncomfortable. & Just very off put, so when the exam was over I was already in a bad mood because of the doctors attitude & just wanted to get my prescription & get out of there. Now..... it's time to pay..... There was about 5 other people still roaming around looking at glasses & such, but every single employee had disappeared into the back room? I assumed it was to get their closing duties done as fast as possible so they could leave???? I stood around for about 10-15 minutes just WAITING for someone to come & ring me up so I could leave. The blonde haired woman who assisted me earlier, had came back out & rung me up. I usually don't wear contacts so I went back to wearing my glasses. So I ordered some glasses offline in April/May (I was out of state in February-April) from a site I always order glasses from & when I first put them on it's a bit blurry & a but hard for me to read things at a distance... I assumed that it was just because my eyes were still adjusting to them..... So I tried on my old pair of glasses & I can see further with them, than I can with the new prescription that was given to me from the rude doctor at Stanton!!!!!! I have tried calling the store multiple times, yet a customer service rep answers & I have been going back & forth with them about a refund for the exam & the contacts for the past few months, the final result is that they are willing to re-examine me When I came to pick up the contacts that I paid $100 for, there were 2 workers..... & when I tell you that this one female worker was just SITTING ON HER PHONE as if there was nobody there waiting to be helped!!!!!!! I get it, we're young, we wanna scroll on the TL. but sis, theres a time & place for everything. When you have customers, having your face glued to your phone ignoring customers is just embarrassing. I am upset because, yes I do have insurance, yet the contacts were $100 (unable to return because there is 1 pair missing/box is open) & I also paid $100 for my glasses. & all that they can offer me is a re-examination???? When they already fucked it up the first time? So now because Stanton Optical is not equipped to do eye exams correctly, I am going to have to pay OUT OF POCKET for ANOTHER eye exam at a doctors office, another pair of glasses and contacts!!! read more

When I made my appointment I wasn't told it was virtual until I got there. I wax very upset because I don't live that close. I told them no and I would not come back. The Dr. did go ahead and do my exam. They really seemed like they had great customer service and support for after the purchase. If you want to be made like you are inconveniencing them by coming in to get your glasses adjusted then this is the place for you. Do you enjoy eye rolls or them avoiding you again this is the place for you. When you finally get assistance and you ask them about it rising up in the ear area every minute and are just told to push them back down. Then again what does it matter that I spent $700. Even though; it's a virtual eye exam; the optometrist responded back to me like a real person when I couldn't read something or asked to see a line again . The color coded price ranges make it easier to select the best pair- Pairs in your price range ; and the worker saved me a good amount of money ; considering I had car trouble that day and only had $200 on me . read more

I found some of the advertisements to be misleading. They had a really great team, and I was pleased with the customer service to an extent. I felt the up sale of the glasses came before my needs and what I could afford was not worked with in having thoughtful consideration to find me what would be best for the money I was spending for my visual health. Then as far as communication with my being able to get the glasses, I had to track down using the website provided on voice prompt. That is not how I like to handle business when it comes to my health. Had I known, how long it was going to take, after I had put a half down payment on, these glasses, I most certainly would not have bought them through Stanton Optical. I was told it could just take a couple days. According to the website, it's going to be a couple weeks, as this was an urgency in my needing the glasses for work. My father was most pleased with Dr, Thomas' exam of his eyes and her recommendations. My father said Dr. Thomas gave him the best eye exam and recommendations he had received in over a decade. I get better customer service from the DMV and IRS. For the 90 min I was stuck there, maybe 15 of them weren't spend idly waiting. I scheduled an appointment, arrived early to fill out paperwork, and still had to wait 30 min to see the physician. After a short reprieve, Stanton has once again let us down. The glasses that my husband reordered A MONTH AGO are still not ready. When my husband tried to call today, he was put on hold and hung up on twice. It's a Tuesday morning. How busy can they be? He called back two hours later and was told the lenses came in and they were too small for the frames. What? And no one bothered to let us know? The management at this store is obviously so poor and, though some of the employees are very nice, they just can't handle the volume of orders they receive for whatever reason. Proceed at your own risk because you have been warned! A call has been put in to the number I was given from "Justin" at corporate, but it went to a non-corporate voicemail. If you want to feel like just a number at the DMV look no further. I used to go to a small office in CA. The optometrist was very personable, very informative and took his time to get me the right prescription. Explained every detail of my eyesight. Let me just say how different my experience was here both times. The only reason I came here a second time was for convenience and hope that it would be different. The new prescription I got I don't think is accurate is still but I can see and I really don't want to deal with them again. I was rushed by the doctor when I tried to tell him that I have slight astigmatism he said I know. Didn't talk to me didn't go over anything or ask any questions at all. Just gave the receptionist my prescription and called the next person. The only reason this has even 2 stars is because the older gentleman with white hair who helped me both times was great during the rest of the process. And they I love my glasses. read more

I obviously should have read the reviews before making an appointment for contact lenses. This place is a joke!! I think I saw someone say "you get what you pay for". SO TRUE!! From the moment I walked in I felt very uneasy about it. I don't think they've been open very long so I expected a brand new, clean building. WRONG! The floors looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in weeks, but honestly that factor was minor as long as my eye exam went smoothly. Anyway, the first person I came in contact with (girl at the front desk on the exam side), was extremely unpleasant, which started me off on the wrong foot since I've never been there before and was unsure of their process. Then I went in to have my exam and the equipment was filthy!! I was nervous to put my face on it, but I'm not one to cause a scene so whatever... The real problem was that all the lenses inside the equipment were filthy too so I could barely see anything. I kept telling the doctor it was foggy so he wiped it off with a wet toilette, which made it even worse!! I think I said it was dirty (and now wet) at least 5 times and then gave up. So, now I don't even know if my prescription is accurate because how accurate can it possibly be with dirty equipment? I just kept telling myself, "He's a doctor, he knows what he's doing". As I was leaving, he gave me a "trial" pair of contacts that he said were slightly off from my actual prescription just so I can get a feel for the lenses themselves. I would say they are a lot more than "slightly off". I asked for a copy of my prescription so I could go home and compare it with my old one because now I'm nervous to even order contacts!! Is my prescription even accurate?? These are things I shouldn't have to worry about! I've been wearing contacts / glasses for 21 years and I've never been so unsure. Oh boy....where do I start? You get what you pay for. I am new to Greenville and I needed to find a new optical. I bought 2 set of eyeglasses. One normal bifocals and the other sunglasses. The customer service people are very nice except the girl who works for measuring your glasses and assisting the optometrist. She looks so lost in space and did not take the right measurements for my eye glasses. To start they source their lenses from China if you didn't know. This is why it takes about 3 weeks to get your orders. Well when I went to pick up my order, they mixed up my lenses and put the wrong lenses with the frames. So... they needed to fix that problem. I waited another 3 weeks and guess what? They made the same mistake along with the problem of not having the right measurement so I cannot read. The optometrist was very nice and knew my irritation and really tried to help me about. What the hell? What is this? The problem has not been solved yet. Horrible place. read more

I have never left a negative review before but I was in near tears after my experience. To start off, I was seen an hour after my scheduled time. When I was finally seen by "the doctor" it was through a projector. There was no physical doctor in the room to check my eyes and I was not informed that my appointment was going to be VIRTUAL. I go to pay and it's 300$ with insurance for a years worth of contacts. I ask why so much to which the receptionist responded "Im not sure that's just how much they are." I ask for the receipt and notice it says 24 contact lenses for each eye. This confuses me because I have always worn monthly contacts. They switched my contact brand to one that is every two weeks without even mentioning it to me. I asked why they would change brands without reason and they were very rude about it telling me just to try them. Will def. never be back, and would recommend anyone who is considering Stanton to be aware that you may be seen late, via screen, and for a hefty price. read more

He said "nah just make sure they fit." Ok!!! Well I should have taken my contacts out. I put them on and I can't see out of either pair much at all. $500 with my insurance and it's wasted.
