Is there a 6 star option here? Seriously...Texas State Optical deserves it…read more From the moment you call to make an appt, to when you walk in the door and are greeted by the staff...to when you finally put on that new pair of glasses you've been waiting for! TSO offers the best customer service experience possible and you get great glasses to boot. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by the staff and they checked me in. I only waited about 5 min before getting my eyes checked. Throughout the entire time, the young lady helping me was amazing. Extremely courteous... professional...and every other word that relates to customer service exemplified. I took in my old glasses so they already had an idea of my prescription. The doctor took me to the back for the eye exam and about 10 min later I was walking out. The staff then showed me which lenses I could pick from based off my insurance. After choosing the ones I liked, they said they should be ready in about 1 week. Well to my nice surprise they were ready for pickup the next day! When I went to pick them up they gave me the case with a spray and small towel to clean them with in a small bag with my name hand written on it. The devil is in the details but those little details win over customers. This feels like a fairly new optical... slightly small...but with it's amazing staff, great doctor, and top-of-the line customer service, it feels and is the best place to get your glasses.

So it was the middle of April and around 10:00 in the morning I get a call from the school…read moresecretary telling me that my daughter Emma scratched her eye. In the background I hear my daughter whimpering and complaining that her eye hurts. The secretary tells me that my daughter has been in pain for a few minutes and she asked me what she wanted me to do or recommend. So I told her that I would rush over and take my daughter to the doctor to get checked out. So I get in my car and I rushed over to take care of my daughter. When I get to my daughter's school, I ask my daughter what happened and she explains that she scratched her eye with some loose leaf worksheets that she was working on. So I rush over to Edinburg Vision Center which was only one block away and when I parked I started looking around like crazy inside my car for my wallet. After a few minutes of looking around I gave up and just walked in to the building (I was not about to waste time and prolong my daughter's pain by rushing home and then rushing back to the doctor's office). I walk in. I stepped up to the receptionist and I explained the situation with my daughter. She was clearly moved my daughter's pain and suffering and tried to have me rushed through. She handed me the usual forms to fill out for new patients and I went to sit down. I felt bad for the lady asking me for my information, because I showed up with nothing. No ID, no insurance card, nothing. I could almost feel her frustration and her fear that I was some hopeless case with no money or insurance, but I asked her for the form she was filling out and I was able to fill in all the information she needed because I knew it all by heart (prior military and law enforcement experience required me to provide a lot of information on demand). From the time that I arrived and the time I was called in could not have been more than 20 minutes. Techs walked my daughter in to an examination room and they get on to doing their thing. The doctor then walks in and she immediately gets to work. She gets out some tool that allowed her to check my daughter's eyes and with the aid of some UV light she quickly found the scratch that was irritating her eye. The doctor explained what she found and even let me see what she was seeing. She wheels over to her desk and pulls out a small bottle with some disinfecting solution, and then - very cleverly - uses a contact lens as a type of bandage over the scratched cornea. The doctor gives me some quick and easy instructions on how to care for the injury overnight and to come back the next day. I walk out and take my daughter home to recover. I was in and out in 40 minutes. We go home and I do my best to take care of my daughter's eyes. She's only 7 and she has her whole life ahead of her so she's going to need her eyes for a very, long, long time. I come back the next day and the same doctor examines my daughter's eyes. Using the same tool to examine my daughter's eyes she shows me how my daughter's eye healed up well. The scratch was gone and my daughter was happy. I was so glad that my daughter was better.

Courteous staff but these people try to scam you out of every dollar…read more My VSP plan says I should pay only $5 for my vision check and eyeglasses prescription! They don't explain their charges til the end. I Went in for prescription for eyeglasses and they charged me over $150 - with two insurances! First of all they charged me $ for being a new patient then, $ for copay, then $ for some eye mapping, more $ for eyeglasses prescription and $ for an overpriced eyewash. I went home and called my vsp plan to see what happened but these people didn't submit paperwork! They billed my health insurance as a "medical visit" rather than billing the vision plan for a vision exam. They did not use my VSP vision plan because they would get more $money out of my medical insurance. According to them, it doesn't make a difference, but it does to me. I ended up dishing out more money than I needed to. And Dr Liska almost cried as he complained that he would have to do more paperwork if I made them resubmit my claim the proper way. He went on and on with his paperwork filing story. It took almost 20 minutes! Not only that, my daughter was also charged over $100 for her contact lens prescription too. According to them it was due to her not having a preauthorization. Really? I called the insurance and it was all bull. We went back and sure enough we got a refund of $100 after we called the insurance and handed them the phone. We were supposed to have paid only the copay $ for her insurance plan. I will not return to this place.

We had a very bad experience here. Let me tell you the facts…read more My daughter broke her glasses. She had gotten them at this place and they had a file for my daughter since they eye Dr. George P. Amegin refers us to this place. I guess it's like a one stop shop. My wife wen to the place at 2 pm. And the place was closed. Mi wife called before going to ensure they were open. She was told that yes they would be open until 5. My wife goes and the place was closed. There was people inside but they wouldn't open. My wife called and no answer then she called another location and they called that place again and was told they closed early. There was no sign! Mi wife finally gets to get them there and mi daughter gets her eye exam and orders her glasses. And was told that they would be ready today Friday. Friday came and she got a call from a gentleman that they were ready. Mi wife asked until what time will you be there. It was 2 pm at the time. He answered 4 pm. Mi wife was 45 minutes away and my daughter had 4 days without glasses and she decided to go pick them up. When she gets there at 3pm the door was locked!!! She was outside the building for 30 minutes!! People staring at her! Not answering the phone. She was called, she did everything right and this people lack professionalism. More customers arrived with appointments and the same thing the other person drove from Rio Grande!! When the person answered the door he was condescending to the customers. I wasn't there... I wish I had been. We will NEVER GO HERE AGAIN! EVER!! Before you go there look at the reviews!! We didn't... shame on me.

Worst customer service experience. Would not give frames with options insurance covered in full…read more Diana stated it was because she would lose money on what insurance reimbursed her, even though 1) they were part of the insurance network and 2) had agreed to do so the day before. Called Superior Vision insurance with Diana with me. The insurance agent told Diana she was wrong and needed to honor the "covered in full". Diana refused. Insurance is opening an investigation. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and any other entities I can. I also found out today they didn't apply the options to the lenses last year which they told my wife they would. Frauds and cheats. Sadly, they claim to be Christian and yet act this way. Stay away. Far, far away.
