Our staircase and office were looking a little dingy so we decided to call Stanley Steemer. We used them a few years ago and had a good experience. We decided to do all the carpeted areas -which is 3 rooms, one hallway, and a staircase plus "protection" on the staircase for $258. Note: One room/area by their standards is 300 square feet. I like that the fees on the website was exactly the fee you pay- no tricks. We booked them online over last weekend and set up a Tuesday morning appt block from 8 am - 1 pm. They texted a little bit before they arrived at 10:30 am.. Omar and Raoul were courteous and efficient. They only took 75 minutes and payment by card was prompt. There were 1-2 stains that couldnt be completely removed but one of those was bleach and one was VERY old. But for the majority it was very clean.. The staircase, which is a heavy traffic area, looked almost brand new. They wont lift beds, electronics, or heavy items. I lifted many of smaller end tables/nightstands and placed them on couches/tables to prepare. They are a bit expensive, but we are happy with the service. read more

I saw positive Google reviews - my mistake was to not check Yelp where the honest reviews would have saved my carpet that I absolutely love. When the first person came out I explained this was a Custom Made Carpet, meaning the colors in the bold patterns were picked by me to coordinate with our furniture and walls. He told me how beautiful it was. We discussed that we do not wear shoes in the house, and have no pets and I showed him the corner of the rug that was soiled. They called it "high traffic pattern". The rep said they may not be able to get the dirt out 100%. I was grateful for the honestly and based on the 5 star reviews on Google, I thought surely they will do a great job and if it isn't 100% at least it would look better. My carpet except for a 1 x 5 area in the corner of the 9 x 12 carpet looked brand new. As you can see in the video the background color was snow white with bold yellow, red and blue designs woven in. When the carpet came back it looked exactly like it did when they took it. I said I can't see where they cleaned at all? They took it back and in a few days brought it back again. Again, I didn't see a noticeable change in the dirty area. The delivery guy said he would take it back if I wanted for a "more aggressive" treatment. And he said it in a way that I wasn't sure if it was a threat or was he trying to tell me something. I replied that I don't know what "more aggressive" means and he did not explain. Still trusting the brand name and google reviews, I thought maybe he was just tired of hauling the carpet in and out of my house. A few days later the carpet comes back. I am in SHOCK! The White background looks like it was washed in dirty water and instead of snow white it is now a dingy color with grey tones in some areas. The red and blue areas are noticeable faded. The yellow areas no longer match each other. One looks faded like the red and blue areas. The Yellow in the soiled area is now STRAW COLORED. It is so close to the dingy background that used to be white, that there is ALMOST NO CONTRAST. To make it worse, the dirt is still there - it has just spread to a larger area!!! I took a close look at it and now it also has PET HAIR on it???? We do not have pets. I told them this was not acceptable and that my carpet has been ruined. I asked them to process my complaint and said I would like a refund and compensation for the carpet. It was by now not a new carpet but I certainly expected some compensation, not a full new rug. Christ Gingell said they would review the situation and get back to me to see how this could be resolved. I was told I needed to send in the receipt for when I purchase the carpet. I think they were hoping I didn't have it. I sent it in the same day. I got a call from Mark who said he was the Regional Manager. This is a 100% polyester carpet and they are the easiest carpets to clean and also the least likely to be damaged. When I told him this, he couldn't argue. He blamed everything under the sun and said it was impossible that they ruined the carpet. He said the carpet "was defective" and it is not their fault that "the colors bled". The colors were washed out in the specific area they focused on. The colors did not bleed. I told him that I was relying on them, the carpet cleaning professionals to advise me. If they had simply told me that they could not clean my carpet without damaging it, I would have had that section cut off and saved the rest. I loved it that much. I can no longer do that because the WHOLE carpet is now dingy and washed out and there is nothing to save because the TWO Yellow areas do not match at all, one is faded yellow and the other straw! We had several back and forth calls where I had hoped we were making progress. He then directed me to read the fine print in the form I signed. Down in paragraph 6 it says: Customer understands that Stanley Steamer AGREES TO PERFORM THE SERVICED INDICATED IN A WORKMANLIKE MANNER. HOWEVER SS CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT ALL ODORS, STAINS AND MARKS WILL BE REMOVED OR AREAS COMPLETELY FREE OF DISCOLORATION. IT IS SPECIFICALLY UNDERSTOOD THAT SS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY ACT OR DAMAGE TO CUSTOMER'S PROPERTY WHATSOEVER..... I completely understand not removing 100% of the stain, but ruining the whole carpet I do not. WHY didn't they simply test a tiny little area??? Why did they ruin the whole carpet and not once advise me there was going to be a risk it might be damaged. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Update: Kevin the manager of this location came by the following day to see what could be done about the situation. He was honest, clear and helpful. He has a crew coming by this week at my wife's convenience to correct things if possible - will update as things happen. My wife contracted this company to clean our sectional sofa. Anio and his crew came, did the work and then at the end after taking payment made the comment: 'we started cleaning then saw it was down feathers, we shouldn't clean those. But we finished anyway. There may be browning because of the feathers.' We aren't experts - this was news to her. She called me and I googled it and the first thing is says about down feathers is DO NOT USE WATER. Three hours and two polite phone calls later to document the situation and no one from management has called me back, the cushions stink and have brown ribs all over them. I had to leave work and get fans to try and dry them on the patio myself. They STINK. We're incredibly disappointed, why would you keep cleaning something that you know shouldn't get wet??? We contacted Stanley Steemer for our couch and added the disinfecting and sealing protection on top of the cleaning for a total of $200. Our couch had a urine smell from some of the kids we had over and we knew we needed it cleaned immediately. Contacting and scheduling online was a breeze. We got a text the morning of our appointment at 7:55AM saying our technician was 13 minutes away so we prepared for their arrival and I checked 20 minutes later and our technician is still sitting and "13 minutes" away. The technician didn't show up until 8:45AM, I was a bit annoyed at that. We let the technician know of our concern and he got to cleaning and took maybe 40 minutes and then disinfected it and left. He didn't "seal and protect" it at all. He never asked us if there were certain spots he should go over or for us to inspect it. He just said he was done and left. Grandkids has made my carpet cleaning needs more frequent. I hired stanley steemer at the beginning of the year and stains were left on my carpet because they "couldn't be removed". We were told it was nothing they could do to remove said stains. I hired Stanley Steamer again, Mike McKiver and Edwin P came out to clean a different room of stains. Mike noticed the stain in passing and said he could get it out no problem, and offered treatments to help with my grandkids future stains. I asked if the grout in shower and bathroom area could be cleaned (shower was not listed on website). The response was yes and I requested it be added. It was a big job and the two gentlemen Ledmir and Harley got it done efficiently and in good time! I thought it would take twice as long. I wasn't planning on doing the grout but I am so glad I did! We scheduled an appointment with Stanley Steamer more than a month ago, April 2021. The date of the appointment was 5/20/2021. Time window was set between 8am and 1pm. Work to be done clean tile floors in the kitchen and Florida Room and repair grout. My wife also added the Master bathroom floor and the floor in our guest room (laminate) floor. After waiting about a month for the appointment, we received an e-mail confirming the date and time, and issuing us a confirmation number the day before. Now the stage is set. Morning of the appointment, I got up early, around 7am and began emptying the Florida Room and kitchen. We spent the morning moving all the furniture, etc. to other parts of our home. 8am arrives, we are ready. Time passes. Five hours to be exact. 1:00pm arrives. I called Stanley Steamer. I was told we they had no record of an appointment. Upon further examination, the CS person informed me she had no confirmation number. She said something was probably wrong with her computer, but another computer would have the information. Since their system is on a network, I rejected that claim. "Another Computer" on the same network would have the same information. I interrupted her nervous chatter and gave her the confirmation number from the e-mail sent from Stanley Steamer. She was able to pull up the appointment. She then said here's something wrong, because it shows the job is incomplete. I almost broke out laughing. I told her nothing is wrong with her computer because the job IS in fact incomplete. It never started! (I think she said) she called her Dispatcher, and returned to the phone and informed me that a technician would be here at my residence by 3pm. 3:00pm arrives. 3:30pm arrives. I called Stanley Steamer again. The customer service person on the other end pulled up a record and asked me if I was calling about delivering our area rug. She obviously did not know the software. She was asking about a previously completed appointment somewhere around January 2021, not May of 2021. I finally got her to go back and review the information noted. She said there was none, yet saw the 3pm appointment. Interesting. How could she see nothing noted and yet somehow read the 3pm appointment on her screen? Clairvoyance? She called someone else and came back to the phone to inform me the new window is 5:00pm to 6:00pm. 4:15pm. Stanley Steamer called. An unidentifiable person told me a technician is on the way and will be at my address in one half hour. At 4;45pm the technician arrived. His name is Gavin. From here, things got better. Gaven inspected the areas in question. We settled on refurbishing the tile in our Florida Room and Kitchen to include protective grout coating. Gavin did a terrific job. He knew exactly what to do and went to work. When he was finished, the tile and grouting looked new. He did an outstanding job. I would give this technician five stars, however, the rest of the operation and service was an absolute nightmare of incompetence. I cannot recommend Stanley Steamer to anyone. It was absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced on any level. The only shining star was the Technician. I will rate the overall experience with one star. I was going to give it a zero, but Gavin made the difference and is the only part of the service call that deserves a star. The star I am awarding is for Gavin only. Thanks for salvaging a bad situation and giving it your best. I think Gavin should find a better job with a company that has their act together, then he could be proud of his work and that of his colleagues instead of listening to the grousing of an old man like me and trying to smooth over a situation that should have never been his or my concern. On 9/2/2021 while heading to the other side of the house at 4:30 AM I ended up water skiing across my kitchen; the house had taken on a lot of water from a broken utility sink water line. After working several hours to mitigate the damage as much as possible the Lady of the House expressed a real concern for the silk rug, we got in the Middle East several years ago. I called Stanley Steemers and the gentleman advised that if I could get the rug to their facility on Crescent Park Drive in Riverview that according to Sam at the center, I would be taken care of. After working on the problem for another four hours I finally got assistance in loading up the rug and off to Riverview I went. Upon arrival I met Mr. Steve Little/Quality Supervisor who upon hearing of my issue advised me to pull around to the side and then he came out as provided physical assistance to this 70-year-old and we got the rug into his facility. Mr. Little worked up the paperwork, gave me my copy and asked did I want to pick it up when it was ready, or have it delivered - I requested the delivery to which he replied, "No problem!" From the receptionist that I first met when entering the facility to the other employees I encountered, all of them had friendly greetings and yet there was a very professional air about what they were doing. " Ten minutes later they come back and say it is company policy not to clean rugs if someone is sick." Not the brightest.
